TEGAN'S P.O.V

He didn't attack, nor did he force me to enlist in whatever it was he had going on. But I couldn't get over the fact that my mother had been alive this entire time and never once tried to locate any of her children. It wasn't like we were hidden from her, we were exactly where she had left us 20 years ago. All my life I thought I was the cause of her death but in reality she left us and never looked back. How do you explain that? There is nothing she could say that would make up for those years. "Hey, are you okay?" Ezra's voice boomed over my raging inner dialogue.

"How could she do this?" I asked out loud, his face contorting immediately to confusion with no information to go off of.

"Did Lucy never show again?"

I looked at his face realizing we don't share the same thoughts. He had no idea what I was even referring to. The last time we had spoken was in the forest when I was waiting for Lucy.

How do I even explain to him that the mother I thought was dead, never was? That she looked me right in the eyes and had no idea who I was.

"I went to replace her." I decided to explain it in full detail so he completely understood where my brain was at.

"Did you. Find her I mean?"

"Yeah, she was at the Underground," I said, still looking at him.

"The club? You went by yourself?"

"Yeah." I was barely able to register my thoughts at this point.

"We will have to discuss how dangerous that could have been later. But I can sense you have more on your mind so tell me, what happened?"

His statement made me roll my eyes. But he wasn't wrong, it was a lot more dangerous than even I had anticipated.

"I found more than just her," I said looking at the ground still unsure how to explain what I found.

"Oh?" He said more like a question.

"I met the owner of the club. And Lucy has been working there." I said looking back up at him. His face immediately had a frown.

"Why would Lucy want to work in a club?"

"Because it's far more than just a normal club like everyone was expecting it to be. Iblis owns it. I don't know if Lucy even knows that it's him. But it was."

His eyes bulged as he processed my words.

"Lucy works for the Demon Lord at his Underground club?"

"As an assassin. All the Tribal wolves he has been capturing over the years aren't dead, he has built himself an assassin team from them. The halls were numbered with rooms, so many rooms. I can't help but think about the women behind all those doors. All of them are tribal wolves and most are being held as hostages to serve him."

"Are you implying that The Demon Lord has an army of wolves who obtain powers just like both Lucy and you?" He asked, fear evident in his voice.

"I'm hoping the wolves he has managed to get over the years only obtain two powers at most, but yes that is what I am saying."

"Fuck, and now he has Lucy. What are we going to do?" He asked, concerned.

"She isn't held against her will, not yet at least. I can only hope that she doesn't know who she is working for. But I replace that hard to believe considering he is a hard person to not know." "You think that she is playing both sides?"

"Goddess I hope not. Celeste trusted her and me with her moon powers. I would hope Lucy wouldn't betray Celeste or me."

"But we don't fully know what she is capable of. We both sense darkness in her."

"I have to hope that I am the person destined to balance her darkness," I said.

"Where there is darkness there is always light," Ezra said while kissing my forehead. "We will figure it out, together." He then said as he took my face in his hands, looking me in the eyes.

I was sitting there trying to replace the right words, my heart aching with the thoughts consuming me once again.

"I can feel your pain in our bond. What else happened, Tegan?"

"My mom," I said, my voice cracking with each word.

"What about her?"

"You saw her, didn't you?" A familiar, yet treacherous voice asked from behind me.

"You saw her spirit?" Ezra asked next. A sigh left my mouth before shaking my head no.

I then turned around to look at the one person I trusted most in life. The one person I thought would always protect me and never lie. The one person who has been my rock my entire life. "You knew this entire time?" I asked, my voice matching how I felt, broken.

"You don't understand Tegan. I did this for you."

I shook my head no in response. Not trusting my voice.

"I did. Everything I did, and continue to do, is for you." Helena quickly said next.

"I don't understand," Ezra said, completely lost.

"What you did was lie. Maybe keeping this from a child would be understandable but you continued to lie day after day even when my true identity was discovered. And now you stand before me telling me, it was to protect me? How? Please explain how this was to protect me?" I said, not answering Ezra.

"If you knew your mother was alive you would have tried to go after her."

"You're damn right!" I screamed as the anger bubbled inside of me.

"She didn't want that. She chose to go willingly so that she could hide you."

"And let me guess, you listened for my best interest," I responded sarcastically. "I did."

"Wait, your mom is alive? Like alive alive." Ezra asked beside me.

"No, you made a selfish decision to continue to lie to me well after everything was already out. Well after knowing Iblis was coming for MY son. Well after we have planned out what we would do. You knew this entire fucking time he had an army of tribal wolves at his side AND STILL SAT THERE REFUSING TO TELL ME!" "I can see why you're upset, but I made a promise to your mother to keep her only a memory for your protection."

"Oh yeah? And how exactly is that working out for you? I was discovered, you weren't there. I was sliced open as a sacrifice, you weren't there. I am having a split reality shared with the devil himself and there is nothing you can do. But the one fucking thing you could have done, you didn't. You chose to keep this vital information to yourself based on a promise YOU COULDN'T KEEP." I screamed out, my wolf surging forward in anger.

"I did it to protect you." She said again. "Only to protect you."

"And look where I am. Unprotected and way more underprepared than I ever even knew."

"T..-"

"I to be alone so I can fucking think," I said as I stormed away, unable to be near her a moment longer.

What the hell was I going to do now?
