Chasing My Rejected Luna -
Chapter 155
EZRA'S P.O.V
Even with these wolves having powers, I was still able to keep up with taking them down. Their powers didn't make them powerful, which was surprising. I guess not everyone can be born as powerful as my mate.
Speaking of, I quickly scanned the area to make sure she was okay, to my surprise she was walking straight through them. Most of the wolves were unable to touch her. It was like she put up some type of magical barrier that kept her untouchable. That's interesting. I watched longer as some approached but would fly backward. It was as if touching the forcefield sent them flying in the air.
Before I could process what was going on another wolf jumped at me, biting down my leg as their head shook back and forth. I could feel pain ripple through as they broke the skin and blood started dripping out. I bent down, snapping my teeth at the small wolf. I managed to grab ahold of the excess fur around their neck as I yanked with all the power in me. I could feel their skin as it slowly detached itself from their body, skinning them alive. The wolf yelped out in pain before involuntarily shifting back into their human form. I momentarily felt guilt as the woman shook beneath my teeth. I hated this part of the war. You know the part where I had to kill them. I decided to let her take the easy way out by snapping her neck, allowing her freedom from her misery. I looked around to check on the team. Surprisingly all of us were still alive. I'm not sure how that was possible since we were majorly outnumbered but I wouldn't complain. Was his goal to send out his weakest wolves first to wear us out before his best warriors took us out indefinitely?
The more wolves we took out, the more that seemed to be appearing out of thin air. Just how many wolves did he collect over the years?
"EZRA!" The scream of my mother echoed out.
What was she doing here? Wasn't she at home with Elias?
"Young man, what do you think you're doing?" She then asked.
Her eyes were as black as the darkest night sky. I couldn't get through in mindlink so I quickly transformed into my human form to talk. "Mom, are you okay?"
"That is me, huh?" She asked with a sadistic smile across her face.
"What're you doing here?"
"To kill you, of course." She answered as she approached, a knife visible in her hand.
"Where'd you get that knife?" I asked as I backed away slowly.
"Not your concern." She answered with a shrug.
She then came at me faster. The knife was out in front of her as she thrashed it from side to side trying to strike me.
"Mom... MOM!" I yelled as I continued to step backward, not wanting to hurt her.
"Mommy is gone."
Her voice sounded the same while her face looked almost no different, other than the blackened eyes.
"What have you done to my mother!?" I demanded angrily.
"Don't worry, she is still here. Watching everything her tiny hands will do. How do you think she will live with herself when she kills her only child."
"Let her go!" I hollered out, but it was useless. Why would the demon ever listen to me?
"I actually like this skin. I think I'll keep it. Thanks though."
At this point, I had backed so far up that my back was against a tree. There was nowhere else for me to go, nowhere else for me to turn.
"Uh oh, it appears you have nowhere else to run. What will you do?" The demon asked with a hint of humor in its tone.
It inched forward waving the knife around carelessly.
"Mom, I know you're in there. Fight, please!" I begged shamelessly. "PLEASE, I don't want to hurt you!" I begged, hoping she'd hear.
"The trauma you'll endure after this is going to be hard. Much like the pain you felt after losing dear old daddy. Expect this will be much worse because her life will be taken by your hands, not someone else's." The demon taunted. "MOM FIGHT IT!" I screamed as the demon put the knife to my throat.
"Come on, don't make this easy on me."
"I won't give you what you want. I won't kill her!"
"So, you'd rather she kill you and endure that form of pain once I let her go?"
"Mom, I know you're in there. I know you can hear me." I said again as the Demon cut my neck, making me hiss out in pain from the knife cutting into me.
"Fight back!" It was demanding.
"NO! I will not hurt my mother!" I screamed.
"But she will hurt you." It said as it cut a little deeper. My holler was evident in the pain I felt.
"MOM!" I screamed again, praying she could fight it.
Suddenly her eyes began to flash between her beautiful green and the dark black.
"She is a strong one indeed, fighting relentlessly." The demon said in my mom's voice. "But just not strong enough." It said as it started to move the knife some more, making me holler out once again in pain. "Need some help?" Someone asked from beside me.
I looked over to see Tegan's mother standing there.
"Please don't kill her, she is my mother," I begged, even though the demon had every intention of killing me with my mom's hands.
"Don't worry, I won't," Marci said as she began to chant some incantation.
The demon was fighting back as they thrashed around. Her eyes were now primarily green.
"Mom, you have to fight it!" I screamed, hoping she could hear me.
"I...I can't. It's too...Too strong!" She stuttered out as the demon began to lose control.
"You bitch! Shut your mouth!" It screamed at Marci, showing how much her words had already weakened it.
"LET HER GO!" I screamed again, as Marci continued to chant in incantation.
"NEV..." It started to say before being cut off as the hands of my mother impaled herself with the knife she held tightly.
The darkness of her eyes instantly faded, leaving only her beautiful green to shine. Her body then slid to the ground as she held onto her stomach, blood pouring out around the knife.
"Mom, why did you do that!?" I screamed out as she pulled the knife back out.
"Take it, you'll need it to take down those bastard demons for good." She said breathlessly. "It was the only other way to make it leave for good."
"Marci was handling it," I said as tears started surfacing.
"It wouldn't have been fast enough. It would have killed you." She said as she groaned.
I looked down, noticing her wound wasn't healing. I quickly threw my hands over her stomach putting pressure on it. She had already lost a significant amount of blood.
"WHY ISN'T SHE HEALING!?" I screamed out.
Marci stood there silent watching us.
"Marci, why isn't she healing!?" I asked again.
"The blade is the devil's blade. The magic is keeping her from healing herself. Just like how your neck isn't healing." She said looking between us.
"HELENA, HELP ME! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!" I screamed as I cradled her body in my arms.
"Ezra..." Her weakened voice said, catching my attention. "I am so proud of the man you have become. Your father would be proud too."
"Stop talking like you won't live. You're not dying." I said as tears fell down my face.
She lifted her hand to touch my face as she stared deeply into my eyes.
"You beat him for your family. Please tell Tegan I never blamed her, it wasn't me. She'll know what I mean."
"You can tell her yourself. Stop it."
"Please don't blame yourself. Please remember I chose to do this to myself to protect not only you but everyone else too. This was my choice."
I pulled her body closer to my own. The warmth of her body was depleting fast.
"I love you, Mom," I said as tears began to run down her face as well.
"I love you more my sweet, strong boy."
We were silent as I held her body close to mine. Her hand fell from my face as she gasped for air, taking her final breath. I continued to cradle her body as tears fell down my face. I lost my mother. My mother was dead. The pain was becoming too much to handle. I couldn't do this again, I couldn't lose someone else that I loved. This war had to end before it was too late and everyone I loved was dead.
