TEGAN'S P.O.V

It all happened so fast. One minute I was walking down the rows of wolves, and then the next thing I knew my body was being flung across the yard. I was so close to the border of the woods, so close to being able to get to Iblis that it made me sick. I looked down as blood poured from my stomach. A branch sticking out that had impaled me from behind. It felt like my lungs were giving out on me. I couldn't breathe, I was gasping for air while also feeling like I was drowning in my own blood as it poured from my mouth. "You didn't think you could defeat us all, did you?" The voice asked in a malicious tone. I chose to remain silent, however. I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of trying to speak with a mouth full of blood.

"Some of us have been around long enough to know all the tricks you're using. Don't think for a moment that your tricks will work on me." She then said when I didn't speak. "You better do something fast or that wound will kill you if your wolf can't heal you. Wouldn't want to waste a perfectly good challenge over a little branch, would you?"

Her gloating was becoming frustrating. She was so confident in herself that it was irritating. I say that, yet just moments before her attack, so was I. Before her powerful blow, I had taken multiple people's wolves. With the first few attacks, I had gone too far and killed their human counterpart, until I learned how to stop after taking their wolf only. But she must've been watching me because she managed to get the upper hand. She wasn't even in her wolf form, which meant she was definitely powerful. Little did she know, she wouldn't be for long because I wasn't going to go out like this. I could still feel the power circulating in my body. All that siphoned magic, waiting to be used. I made sure to keep eye contact with her as my hands wrapped around the branch. I focused on the tree itself making the branch pull itself out of me. My body immediately began healing the gaping wound that the branch had caused.

"You control the earth, so what." The woman said as she lifted her hands, causing the air to pick up speed. "I'm one of the most powerful wind wolves, I can s**k the air right out of your lungs." She said, causing me to freak out mentally for just a moment. "I'm far more powerful than wind and earth combined," I said as I used her twirling cyclone against her.

"How... How could you do that?" She asked while stuttering over her words.

It was as if she was suddenly scared. Good, she should be. Because if you mess with the bull, you get its horns. Or whatever the saying was.

'It's more like we messed with the devil and got his horns. Gemma responded to my thoughts while laughing at our situation.

How could she be so buoyant right now? I feel as if I were shaking in my boots at the entire situation while she is the total opposite.

I wished I had the confidence that she did while under such stress.

'I am a part of you. This means if I am optimistic about the situation while displaying bravery then you can too. You have courage like no other, you just have to shove the trauma aside so it can shine.' Gemma replied, keeping a positive outlook on it all. 'Thanks, Gem.

'You are welcome. Now, let's beat this megalomaniac and get back on track for hunting our main target. She replied confidently.

She was right. I needed to let go of the weaker version of myself that I keep holding onto and thrive as the puissant woman that I am.

"Not your concern. Just know, if you want to challenge someone. Know their strengths as well as their weaknesses." I finally replied to the wind wolf as I flipped my hand inward.

The cyclone she created sucked her body right up as her screams echoed in the wooded lands. It then spat her out as I slowed its twirl. Sending the woman's disfigured body flying through the air, hitting a tree, impaling her just as she did me. I was sure that she had died before the tree ever impaled her just by the looks of her body.

'That's too bad she had to die. We could've used her confidence.' Gemma said after a moment.

True, if only she wasn't on the wrong side. She seemed like she was experienced and could have benefited us. But truth be told, all of these Tribal wolves would have benefited us in this chaotic war. As I stared at her body, a faint echo of Iblis screaming at someone caught my attention. He was close, which meant this war was closer to being over. I stormed in the direction of his voice.

He sounded beyond mad, more mad than I have heard him since we met. It was almost a madness that could be connected to panic. But I wasn't sure since I hardly knew him or his behavior.

Just as I made it to the brink of the woods again, a mob of wolves managed to trap me in a circle. They walked around me as if stalking their prey. There were six of them and only one of me. I started to feel fear creeping back in, but I shoved it down. I couldn't show fear, I couldn't appear weak. I needed to overcome the what-ifs and become the top dog.

'I'm no dog!' Gemma yelled.

But there was no time for arguing. She hated being compared to a dog, even if a dog is a descendant of a wolf. Suddenly, one of the wolves transformed back into a human as she stared at me. The rest of the wolves continued to circle the two of us, as if trapping us in a ring to fight.

"I saw what you did." She said, her voice coming out velvety yet soothing to the soul.

"It was her life or mine, I chose myself," I replied confidently.

"Right. Just like now, It's either you or me. Who do you think I will choose?" She asked as her eyes flashed a violet color. What was that? I'd never seen a violet color in our eyes, this was something new entirely.

"What kind of Tribal Wolf are you?" I asked in a surprised tone.

"The kind that does what she wants, when she wants." She replied with a smirk.

"Not true."

"Oh no?"

"No, you can't do what you want, if you're being commanded to fight by someone controlling you."

"I am nobody's bitch if that's what you mean." She said as she lifted her head and tree vines uprooted, snatching the legs of the five wolves that circled us.

Their bodies were dangling upside down as the woman in front of me spoke.

"Boom." She said in a calm collected voice.

As the words left her mouth all five of the wolf's heads exploded. We were both covered in blood and membranes now. The urge to throw up was strong.

"Don't tell me this sickens you?" She asked as she approached me. Her hand grazed my face before she spoke again. "I can be far more gruesome, would you like to see?" She asked as she twirled her finger in circles, not giving me a chance to respond. Suddenly, all the wolves surrounding us within five feet were sucked into a vortex as a crooked smile plastered her face.

"Incendia." She said while never breaking eye contact with me.

The word made all ten of the wolves that were suspended in her vortex catch fire at once. Their screams echoed all around while the stench of burnt flesh wafted into my nose cavity. When she stopped twirling her finger their bodies hit the ground but were still burning.

"Like I said, nobody tells me what to do." She then said with a crooked smile.

She was actively attacking her team, Iblis's commanded team, so what did that mean for us? Has the tables finally turned in our favor? Was she on our side or did she just want to show off how powerful she was before killing me? But that wasn't even the biggest question. The biggest questions were, who was she and what was her motive?
