TEGAN'S P.O.V

At that moment, my entire life flashed before my eyes. Knowing I was about to die was the most terrifying feeling. I've been afraid of dying before, but this was entirely different. Knowing Ezra and I would be leaving our child an orphan sent a sadness beyond measure coursing through my body. I needed to get out of my thoughts so I shifted my eyes to scan our team's face. However, looking at them made me think about the reality even more. We were all still so young. With our entire lives to live.

I quickly looked away from them to stare back at our attackers since they were keeping me lost in my thoughts. The scenery in front of me told me that this was going to be an all-out war. Iblis had so many Tribal Wolves. How had he gotten away with abducting she- wolves this many times? Surely recurring disappearances over the years would have raised concern?

I watched as they began to shift into their wolves, approaching us threateningly in every direction. I then decided to look for Iblis. When I looked in the woods just beyond, I could see dark figures standing in the shadows. A chill ran down my spine while goosebumps covered my arms and legs as I stared into the depths of their cold dark eyes. The feeling I felt told me that they were the dead and they were also here. However, as weird as it was, none of them moved. Which told me that they weren't going to be the ones attacking us, the Tribal Wolves were. At least for now.

All the warriors Iblis had with him let me know that he had been preparing for a war like this for a long time. However, it was a war I knew our side hadn't prepared nearly enough for. It didn't matter in the end because we were outnumbered by the Tribal Wolves even without the dead. Which meant, I wasn't expecting us to make it out alive.

But if those were my thoughts then surely they were also Iblis's. It would be a miracle if we even won a single group. So why did he bring so many warriors? It leads me to wonder one thing, did he know something that we didn't?

"Tegan, I need you to start pulling power from the earth so that you can power up!" Trystan yelled.

There was no time for him to teach me how to draw power from myself directly. So instead, I quickly started to focus on what I had been practicing. I listened to the sounds of all the movements around me. Pulling the energy to myself the best I could. I felt the power circulating throughout my body. I was trying to work as fast as I could, while a wolf zeroed in on me. I knew I hadn't gathered nearly enough power when the wolf jumped at me. I quickly threw my hands up, breaking the connection to the earth to block their attack. As my hands went up I managed to grab a hold of the wolf's neck.

With basic training, we are taught to shield our weak spots. One of which was our neck. It was the number one area attackers targeted. Probably because it was the quickest way to kill.

I snapped the wolf's neck instantly, dropping their body to the ground. I took a moment to breathe inward as the sadness of what I had done washed over me. But I had to quickly shove it aside. I will need to mourn it all later. Right now, I had to focus on the task at hand if I wanted to survive.

I looked around at all the wolves again, the downfall was that we were up against powerful beings. Some of them are more powerful than others but all of them are powerful nonetheless. All I could think about was, how could we win this? The only answer to us winning either group was to end their commander. Therefore, for us to win, we had to end Iblis himself. However, he managed to disappear into thin air. At this point, there was no telling where he went. Hiding behind his warriors, no doubt. For someone so powerful, he sure liked to remain in the shadows, allowing others to handle his dirty work.

I started making my way through the crowd. I wished I could just knock them out cold instead of killing them. My mind was battling with right and wrong again. If I knocked them out, they would still be alive only unconscious, however, the downside to that would be that when they woke up they'd start killing. The question of, 'What should I do?' was once again playing on repeat in my head. The problem was that I needed to remain alive, and to do so, I would have to end these other beings' lives. Whether I liked it or not. Even with the question, I already knew the answer. I had to do what I had to do. Kill.

As I made my way down the path, blood coated the ground. I couldn't stop myself from the intrusive thoughts of, whose blood was it? All I could do was pray that none of the blood coating the ground was from someone that I loved.

I had yet to transform into my wolf, I was so focused on replaceing Iblis. Maybe I should, my senses would increase instantly if I did. As my hand began to morph into a paw, another wolf leaped into the air. Her body collided with my own, causing us both to fall to the ground. My arms reached up to push her off of me just as she snapped down. I screamed out in pain. That was when the palms of my hands started glowing a bright red. Suddenly I could feel the energy flowing freely between us. The wolf began to buck as she tried to free herself from my grasp. Her teeth were snapping right over my face. She was so close that I could feel her breath beating down on it. The more energy sources pulled from her, the weaker she was starting to become.

'Gemma, what's going on?' I asked my wolf, not sure what was happening.

The wolf in my hands shook as she involuntarily transformed back into her naked human form while she gasped for air.

'This isn't our power, it must be hers. Gemma answered, her voice just as confused as mine.

'What kind of power?' I asked.

'A siphoning magic kind of power!'

'Who are you referring to?' I then asked, not sure of what she meant by her earlier statement of 'it must be hers'.

I did receive power from the Moon Goddess, maybe this was one of the many gifts she granted me. The woman then stopped gasping as she lay there motionless in my hands.

'You know, you could've just stopped at taking her wolf! Gemma then said.

'What?'

'You took her wolf first. Siphoned the supernatural part of her right out. Then you continued and it took her lifeforce!

'I...I didn't mean to.'

'No time to wallow now. We have to get to Iblis. With this newfound power we are temporarily allowed to use, we can take him down quickly to save many lives. She said, Dismissing what we had done, or better yet, what I had done.

But she was right. I needed to replace Iblis and siphon his magic which would hopefully end his life so that I could end the war. Deep down, I knew that I could do this. I just needed to make it out of the sea of attacks from the many Tribal Wolves first. That was possible. Right?
