TEGAN'S P.O.V

As soon as the three blades united and became a sword, the heads of all of the demon-inhabiting people on the battlefield faced upward, black smoke rushing out of their mouths. Some of the bodies immediately dropped to the ground dead due to the wounds sustained. Without their hosts, they could no longer function. I couldn't help but wonder why the demons left the fight without their leader's command. It was as if they were afraid. But why?

I looked around at all of the bickering that was happening while also keeping Iblis and Lucy frozen in place. All I wanted was to end this war once and for all. But the demons were now out in the world, taking on yet another human form, while none of us could figure out who could yield the sword.

"ENOUGH! While we are here complaining, real people have lost their lives on that field!" I screamed at the arguing group.

Once Iblis was dead and not controlling the black-eyed monsters, we could take them down for good, sending them back to hell. I was prepared to hunt them down. But the question was, how hard would that be? They had already long gone, so killing Iblis was the first on our list to do at that moment.

I looked up at the "most powerful man" suspended in the air awaiting his termination. I could tell he wanted to speak but somehow I managed to overpower even his abilities. I then looked over to Lucy, who was also frozen in place. Her hand was still around Fredrick's throat. Fear etched on his face.

'Are you okay?' I mind-linked him while the others continued to banter.

'Can we speed this up and free Lucy? I'm going to pass out from lack of oxygen!' He responded urgently.

Maybe I could reach Lucy's mind too if Iblis could?

'You couldn't reach her while out on the battlefield. She left us for dead without a care in the world. Gemma replied to my thoughts.

'I also wasn't in her head.' I responded to her, although she wasn't wrong.

Iblis did a number on her mind without any of us even noticing a thing until it was too late. So it had me questioning if what he had done was reversible.

L

I guess it is worth a shot at trying to get into her mind.' Gemma said, finally agreeing, even though she wasn't sure herself. If Iblis could do it, then so could I, right?

While keeping the magical hold on them, I closed my eyes thinking about what I wanted to do. Just think and then do, just like Trystan said. I could feel this pressure in my head, it was as if I were feeling what she was. Was that the magic that Iblis had placed on her that I was hitting?

'Push harder, I can feel her wolf trying to reach out to me!

I did as Gemma asked and pushed harder until a sudden burst of pain struck me full force. That's when Lucy's body went unconscious, dropping to the ground while also letting go of Fredrick in the process.

"UGH!"

It felt as if my feet were giving out from underneath me.

"Tegan!" Ezra screamed as he caught my collapsing body.

"Weak-minded people never have the upper hand on those superior to them." I heard the voice that I was keeping at bay say.

"SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!" Talissa screamed.

"I shall see you soon Tally, Toodaloo for now." He said while wiggling his fingers in a way to say goodbye, addressing his sister as he instantly disappeared.

"Why couldn't you all just touch the sword and kill the damn man!? Now he is not only still alive but he is also gone!" Talissa screamed. Real fear was evident in her voice.

"We will replace him. Don't worry." Ezra responded, trying to be reassuring.

"That's the least of our worries now. I have to go back into hiding. They can't replace me. I knew killing him was too good to be true. The only damn weapon that could set me free and kill my brother now has to have a certain yielder. How convenient is that?" "Wait, the only weapon that could kill him?" I asked.

"Yeah, didn't Trystan tell you that the only thing that could kill Iblis was that damned sword?"

"But until my mother gave me her blade, the sword was incomplete," Ezra responded, confused.

"And Trystan said he didn't know where the third blade was located." I then said next.

"I didn't mean for any of this to happen the way that it did." He admitted as he moved closer.

"Wait, I'm confused," I then said, looking between the two of them.

"I needed to get that blade, it was the only way to kill him. I'm sorry."

"So you're telling me that you knew where it was?" I asked.

"I couldn't get it without her."

"You mean without my mom," Ezra corrected.

"They kept it in a safe that was impossible to break into. Only your mother and father knew that it was there. I needed to lure it out. The only way she'd ever take it out of its magical bonded safe was if..."

"The demons were coming out," I said, finishing the sentence for him.

"So you're telling me that you paid the Declan's for Tegan so that we could open the gate for you. Therefore, allowing the demons to escape. Am I hearing this right?" Ezra asked, his voice void of emotion. Which meant he was angry, very angry. "She wasn't supposed to die, Ezra."

"No, but she did. Therefore, she was just collateral damage in your scheme. A means to an end so that you can get what you want."

"You have to understand, it's the only way to kill Iblis. I had no other choice."

"You could have asked," Ezra exclaimed as tears pooled in his eyes.

"She would never have given it to us. Not even for that. This sword is far more powerful than either of you would ever imagine. Once word gets out about its reappearance, everyone is going to want it."

"Which is why it was separated and kept with three royal families across the states," Ezra said, letting out a sigh. "I'd heard about it, I didn't know it was real. They were separated for a reason, Trystan. Why would you ever unite them again?" "I had to kill him. I have to kill him."

"Do you even know why they were separated?" Ezra asked, pausing for a response.

"My goddess, you do." He then said while looking at Trystan.

"Iblis..."

"He is nowhere near as dangerous as what you just awakened!" Ezra exclaimed, interrupting him.

"Tegan, you have to understand I was doing this for..."

"What did you wake?" I asked, now interrupting him myself. I could see his Adam's apple bob at my question, so I asked again in a more demanding tone, "Trystan...What did you wake up in order to try and kill Iblis!?"

"It would have been worth it had he died."

"If you had known the rule of the sword would you have continued to wake whatever it was that you woke?"

"Of course not!" he exclaimed.

"So it is bad..."

"The sword can only be yielded by the true underworld leader. It can kill any supernatural being with just a mere poke. Which was why all the demons got out of here when it was united."

"You're still not answering my question."

"He woke up the most feared supernatural hunter. With the sword separated, she faded into existence, desiccated, and became what humans would call a mummy. The royal family then placed her mummified body in a magical tomb. But now that the blades are united into their sword form, it has woken the original yielder. She will kill anything supernatural in her path." Ezra finally answered when Trystan didn't.

"There is more to it than that," Trystan said with a sigh. "The sword is missing its stone. It's a magnificent green squared emerald that has a swirling effect throughout it. It's called the alexandrite. Now that she is awake, she will go after the sword once she replaces its gem. Once it's united with the gem, all the supernatural beings she comes across she will kill. Their souls will be sucked into the gem indefinitely. Which is also why Iblis split as soon as he could."

"So without the gem..."

"Without the gem, the sword kills the person struck, but apparently only if struck by the true yielder. With the gem, if struck, they're trapped in a hell far worse than Iblis could ever conjure. She is called Alex the soul captor. Now that she is awake, she will come." Great, not only did Iblis escape, but now we have woken someone the royals wanted to keep dead. What the hell did Trystan get us into?
