TEGAN'S P.O.V

We were able to close the gate, but not before many demons managed to escape. I was so sure that Iblis would be there to fight us about closing it. But to my surprise, he didn't show up. That was strange. What was his ulterior motive? "Okay, it's closed. I want what I was promised," Helga immediately said after the gate was sealed for good.

"I knew you wouldn't stick around to help win this war," Helena angrily stated.

"I never said I would fight in a war that wasn't my own. I only agreed to help close the bloody gate for my payment. Now hand it over." Helga then demanded, addressing both Helena and Trystan.

"Here." Trystan said, throwing a purple crystal-looking necklace at Helga.

She leaped to the ground to catch the thing. Which means that it must've been an important object for her to act like that over it.

"We need to get to the fight fast." Trystan said as he made his way past us, walking toward the open field where an all-out war was in action.

As we walked past the multitude of bodies, an ache was present in my chest. Why did it have to come to this? The gate was sealed. What else could he possibly benefit from this war?

'The obliteration of all of the powerful wolves he is afraid of,' Gemma said in my head.

'If he was afraid of them, he wouldn't have had an entire army of them. I replied back to my wolf as I followed Trystan to the battlefield.

Upon arrival, the uprooting of that awful devil's snare was actively coming out from the underground. Now that the sun was completely gone, the plant wanted to play. Probably being manipulated by someone, no doubt. The plants were targeting only those against the underworld fighters. Which leads me to believe that either Iblis was controlling them or even Lucy was unknowingly doing Iblis's dirty work.

The devil's snare is an underworld plant which thrives in heat. However, the air and light weakens it drastically. Since the sun had officially set, the only thing that was left was the wind, which was minimal tonight.

"Tell your Tribal Wolves that if there are any that can manipulate the air or light, then they need to use them against the devil's snare. We need to manipulate the plants, take them down before they become a problem. Under no circumstances do the fire wolves use their gifts while the devil's snare is attacking. It will only give the plant fuel to be stronger."

I quickly bent down to touch the ground to use my own gifts to help defeat those problematic pesky plants. I could feel the power seeping from my palms.

"I have to help them here. Both of you go and save Lucy from Iblis. The Tribal Wolves can handle the Demons. The urgent matter is freeing Lucy and saving Fredrick." I said to both Helena and Trystan, but more to Trystan.

They disbursed, set on their new goal as I focused on taking down the hundreds, maybe even thousands of plants that had been uprooted. All of which were currently working on squeezing the life out of wolves.

"Don't move, don't try to fight. If you do, your mate and son are dead. Trust me when I say I have eyes on your boy as we speak, eyes who long to see you all dead. If he doesn't hear from me, he is ordered to take down the big guy first. Then take the little one and well you know the rest." A man said as he wrapped his hand around my waist, pulling me up off the ground while putting a knife against my throat.

Not even a full minute later, Ezra came into view. He looked flustered and frightened.

"She smells like you, your mate, I assume. Let's recreate the night on which your dad died, yeah?" The man holding me hostage said.

Recreating the night on which Ezra's dad died? So does that mean that this was the demon spirit of his father's murderer wanting revenge on Ezra for killing him? Did he think that I would so easily submit?

'Tanner, keep alert. A demon, possibly possessing a human body, is watching you. He is ordered to kill both you and Elias if he doesn't call him. HIGH ALERT!' I mind-linked Tanner.

Being powerful meant I could mindlink anyone, anytime, anywhere. No matter the distance, I learned that early on. Which, in this case, benefited me.

'It's Tristen, he has been acting funny. I can see it in his eyes. What should I do? I can't kill my mate!' Tanner's frightened voice said.

'You can knock him out. Wolfsbane him and then tie him up in silver chains. You need to make the human body weak.

'That will hurt him!'

'Yes, but it won't kill him and it'll keep the demon at bay. Make sure that after you knock him out you draw the symbol that we all talked about around his body. It'll keep the demon trapped inside so it can't body swap. When we are done here, we will perform an exorcism. I have to go, kind of in a bind. Be safe, stay safe.' I mind-linked to him before cutting the connection. I had to focus on the task at hand.

I kept my eyes closed as I allowed my body to start to burn, bringing forth my fire gift. It wasn't the brightest idea with some of the plants still out, but that was what I wanted. To draw out the devil's snare and manipulate it to do as I want.

"FUCK, THAT HURTS!" The man screamed as he tried letting go. I snatched his hand in my own as I continued to burn him. I knew it would hurt the human he was possessing, but I had no choice.

Soon the fire spread to his entire body. The plants began to come out of the ground, circling both him and me. I pushed his burning flesh away from me when the plants came out. I used my abilities to cool off my body while also allowing a sliver of light to leave me so that the devil's snare would attack him alone. The plant shrieked before unraveling around me but continuously tightening around the struggling man. Gasps of air could be heard as the plant squeezed him to death.

"Let's go, we have to get to the real battle." I said, taking Ezra's hand in my own.

We took off to where I knew the main people were. The sounds of screaming were echoing around the trees surrounding the land. When we arrived, Lucy was still holding Fredrick. Her hand was around his throat while Iblis was fighting with both Talissa and Marci. Blades were being thrown around while he was using his powers to try and stop them from coming at him. The main ability being used was him instantly disappearing on the spot and reappearing somewhere else.

"This is going to be so bittersweet," I said as I flicked my hand, freezing Iblis and Lucy both in their place.

"It's time," Ezra said as he rushed over to Talissa and Marci.

He quickly put his blade tip against the tips of the other two and a blue light illuminated the entire forest. Suddenly, the blades all ripped from the hands of their holders. All three then combined into a magnificent sword. It was long, sharp, and had the etchings of what I could only describe as a bewitched sword. It looked like a story engraved into the blade of its former life. It was absolutely stunning. It floated in the air, shimmering with a blue hue radiating off of it.

"It wants the one who seeks redemption the most." Ezra said, looking around at the people.

"How will we know who that is?" Talissa asked first.

"It will only move for the one worthy." He said, looking at everyone.

"Well, go try." Talissa said.

"It's not me. It's someone close to him. Someone he ruined, someone who has wanted to take him down for a long time."

Ezra must have some magical connection to the sword. I guess since he was the one who was handling the main blade when the three united, it chose him as its connection.

"If anyone wants revenge it's me." Talissa said, being the first to attempt it.

However, it wasn't her. Nor was it Marci. Those were the two that were tortured the most by Iblis. If it weren't either of them, then who was it?
