EZRA'S P.O.V

We decided to part ways in hopes of dividing and concurring. While Marci, Talissa, and I went to war. Tegan and Trystan went to replace the sister witches to get the gate shut. I wasn't sure what uniting all three blades would do. Hell, I wasn't even sure how to use them correctly. I asked Trystan what I was supposed to do and his response was 'You'll know when the time is right, all you have to do is listen. Whatever that meant. As a leader, I knew I would figure it out and replace solutions. My blade felt as if it were vibrating in my hand. I hadn't had the thing for long, but that was a first. The closer we were getting to the forest, the more it was vibrating. As if it were calling someone, or maybe even something. Was that a sign? I wasn't confident that it was, not yet at least. Once we were at the edge of the tree line, you could see the outer layer of demons with their beet-black eyes staring back out at us. If that weren't creepy, then I wasn't sure what was.

"I see you managed to replace a purpose, sister." The voice of Iblis echoed out of the deep dark forest.

We couldn't see him, but clearly he could see us.

"If that purpose is killing you for all the hell you put me through. Then yes, yes I did." Talissa replied.

"Get in line love. I've ruined many lives in my time. All of which wanted to end me, yet none have succeeded. Isn't that right, Malicious?"

"It's Marci!" Tegan's mother screamed back in fury.

"It is what I say it is!" Iblis screamed out with a dominating tone.

"Where are those dear ole children of yours? Please don't tell me that they sent you three as a distraction?"

"Nobody is distracting anybody," I finally said.

"So the King does have a voice. I was beginning to think you would let all the women speak for you."

"You haven't spoken to me for me to speak." I replied angrily.

I knew that I had been more non-vocal lately, hell maybe even all my life. But that was going to stop. I would rise up and be the best king in honor of my parents. I no longer had them to guide me, so I had to do it myself. I was a grown man who didn't need to be told what to do. But it was never a bad thing to have the guidance of someone wiser.

"I notice you have the blade. Did mommy pass it on?" His annoying voice was beginning to get under my skin.

"Don't let him get to you. The moment you rage out in a fit of blind madness, he has the upper hand. Never let him get in your head." Talissa quickly said to me.

How was that not supposed to upset me? Him and his evil minions are the reason she is dead.

'You can't seek revenge like you did for your father. It's too dangerous here. You have to be calm and collective.' I then heard her voice in my mind.

How the hell did she do that while not being a part of my pack?

"So, if you have the blade, I assume that mommy dearest is now gone from this earthly plane?"

"Shut up!" I screamed, ignoring what Talissa said.

"What would you say if I told you that you could see her again?"

'Don't listen to him, he is lying!' Talissa hollered inside of my head.

"We said goodbye, she is at peace." I then said.

"What about dear ole daddy? He died so abruptly, you didn't get to say goodbye to him."

The blade suddenly started to shine a bright blue. I turned to look at Talissa and Marci, their blades were also shining, just not as bright.

"He is in proximity, which means he has moved closer," Talissa whispered.

So the blades shine when the underworld leader is near?

"What do we do?" I quickly asked.

"You listen to what they want," Talissa responded.

Was I supposed to be listening to an animate object or an inanimate object?

"ATTACK!" I heard Iblis scream out.

Suddenly, human bodies were emerging from the forest quickly. I knew they were demon-infested humans. Which meant we couldn't kill the body, just the host.

"DO NOT STAB ANYWHERE LETHAL! STAB IN AREAS THAT WILL EXTRACT THE DEMON BUT ALLOW THE HUMAN TO LIVE!" I yelled out to the others.

That's when the remaining Tribal Wolves emerged behind us.

"Ahh, some trick. Turning my own warriors against me," Iblis said with a laugh.

I felt as if he knew this would happen all along. Which would make sense why he had the Demon's as a back up.

I couldn't focus on him bantering, the demons were coming at us full force. At least with the Tribal Wolves, they were coming in batches. These, however, were the total opposite. They had no care, it was as if their sole purpose was to create chaos and destruction. I was swinging my blade left and right. Hitting humans in the arms, sides, and legs. Purposely missing any major arteries. That way, the demon would be extracted from the human and exiled back to hell while the human only suffers minor injuries. At least that was the goal.

"The human I have taken control of loves this madness." Someone spoke loudly from behind me as I stabbed the one attacking me.

I quickly turned around to see a man standing there. His head cocked to the side.

"I know the face is confusing, but surely you remember me? I was the one who ruined your life."

"Who are you?"

"Your worst nightmare," they replied while lunging forward to attack.

I dodged his attack in time for my fist to connect with his face in a hard uppercut. I could hear a crack and immediately regret filled my heart. He then stood up, placing his hands on his face as she snapped his jaw back into place. Guess I didn't break it after all, just dislocated it. Thank the Goddess! "Is that all you got, weak pup?"

His words triggered a past memory momentarily. It must've shown on my face because he spoke again.

"Ahh, so you do remember me then. Swell."

Realization suddenly dawned on me, it was him. Only in the flesh of someone else.

Out of all the evil beings, of course, HE would escape!

"I'll send you back to where you belong!" I screamed as I charged him.

"Don't go easy either. The particular human is what you'd call a socialpath. Or is it a sociopath? Hell, I don't remember the term. Let's keep it simple, and say he is a mass murderer. I actually took over his body as he was killing his latest victim. That was fun to finish. I had forgotten the feeling of being driven by a psychological thrill or pleasure. This meatsuit is full of that feeling, it's quite amazing."

"SHUT UP!" I screamed as I hit him in the stomach, knocking him to the ground.

"How have I forgotten what it was like to feel anything before today, pain included. It's nice. Anyway, now that the formalities are out of the way, how about I do what I did to your daddy and eat your heart for old times' sake?" He asked with a laugh.

All I could see was red as I lunged forward. I didn't care about the human body at that point. Hopefully, I won't regret killing him either. Maybe his host wasn't lying and the human was also a serial killer. At least then I could justify it by ridding the world of two lunatic destroyers. That's when, suddenly, I heard a big explosion. I stopped attacking him to look around, panic coursing through my body.

"Looking for someone in particular?" He asked with a crooked bloody smile.

"No." I replied as I swung my blade, only for him to dodge it.

"I heard about that gnarly contraption. But I've decided I'm not done here." He said as he rushed me. Hitting me so hard that I fell to the ground, blood pouring from my mouth as he ran off.

FUCK! I can't allow him to escape! I quickly got up to chase him. But I came to a sudden stop when I saw what he now had in his hands. He held Tegan tightly with a knife to her throat. If she was there, did that mean that the gate was sealed?

"She smells like you, your mate, I assume. Let's recreate the night on which your dad died, yeah?" He asked while pushing the knife down, blood trickling beneath it.

How did he manage to capture her easily? And how do I save her before it's too late?
