Chapter 41

TEGAN'S P.O.V

As much as I wanted to believe it was some joke, I couldn't take the chance. I wanted to take the next step with Liam, but I wasn't sure that the next step was to move in with him. We had only been seeing each other for 3 weeks, but the note left me with no other option. I couldn't risk the safety of my child, the safest place for me was at Liam's side. He would let no harm come to me or my unborn baby. I, of course, still had Tanner, and then two guards from Liam's pack. But this intruder managed to get into my room without any of them knowing. Tanner went wild trying to replace out who it was. There was no trace of a scent left behind, nor did any security cameras catch anyone entering or exiting my room. Which made me more terrified.

I paced my room waiting for Liam to return my call when my phone started going off. I quickly answered without looking at the caller ID.

"Liam, thank god, something has happened." I said, but the other line was dead silent. I pulled the phone from my ear to see 'spam risk' on the caller ID.

"Hello, is someone there?" I spoke again, knowing now it wasn't Liam.

But all I could hear was heavy breathing. My heart rate spiked as I threw my phone across the room, smashing it into the wall, which broke it into pieces. A moment later, a bang at the door had me let a scream out. "Luna Queen Tegan, are you okay!?" I heard Tanner holler from the other side, easing my racing heart. He still refused to address me without the Queen's title, even though I am sure I have already been replaced by now. "Sorry Tanner, I'm just on edge." I said as I opened the door.

"I heard a crash. Is everything okay?"

"It was a prank call, it startled me, and I threw my phone at the wall. Nothing serious." I said as my TV suddenly turned on in the background. Making my heart rate spike again.

"Is someone in there with you?" He asked.

I shook my head no, my eyes nearly bulging from my skull. He pushed the door softly, pulling me behind him.

"Stay here with these guards, I will go have a look, okay?"

I only nodded in response. After a few minutes Tanner reappeared.

"Nobody is in there. We need to relocate you, Luna Queen. It is not safe here. I can take you back to the kingdom, you will be well protected there."

"No, I will go to Liam's pack." I said with finality.

"But I cannot go with you if you go there." He said with pleading eyes, begging me to change my mind.

"I will be safe there." I stated.

"I cannot protect you there." He tried reasoning.

"I think it is time you went home, Tanner. It has been a month. I appreciate all you have done for me, but I will not be returning to the Kingdom. It was only a matter of time before I moved to Liam's pack anyway." "Alpha Ezra... -"

"There is nothing more you can do once I pass into Liam's territory. Ezra will understand."

His name still sent a thrill of excitement through my body. Goddess, I needed to accept that rejection!

"I will drive you to their home. Then I will help unload your belongings and settle you in your room." He stated.

"That is not up to me."

"It's not a request, Queen. I will do this." He said with certainty.

"I will talk to Liam. But then you must return home. You cannot hang around the pack boarder, that is a command, Tanner." If I hadn't commanded, he wouldn't have gone back home. I knew him.

"If that is a command, then fine." He replied, defeated.

"Thank you." I said as he let out a frustrated sigh.

"Your safety will always come first, my Queen." He said with a bow.

"Can I call Alpha Liam on your phone? I broke mine." I asked Liam's guards, one handing over his device.

I immediately found his name and hit dial. After a few rings, the line was picked up. I could hear a faint groan in the background.

'Has the bitch decided?' His voice echoed through the receiver, leaving me confused. "Oh goddess!" I heard another yell in the background.

"Shut up, I am on the phone with important business!" He hollered to whoever was there.

'Randell, are you there? Is it done?'

'Um, Hi. It's me. I finally stated.

'Love, hey, why are you using Randell's phone?' He asked before addressing someone in the room with him.

"Get out, you're dismissed. This is an important call." He murmured under his breath.

'It's broke. If you're busy with a meeting, I can call back. I finally said.

'Nonsense, they were just leaving. Nothing important, some disciplinary actions are all. What's going on, love?'

'I was wondering if the offer for me to come stay with you was still on the table?'

'Of course, it is. Is everything okay?'

'We can discuss it in person if that is alright?'

'Sure, I will see you soon love.

'Another thing.

'What's up?'

'Tanner will drive me there, settle me in and then he will take his leave. Welcomed and unharmed.

I knew having non-pack members in your territory could be risky business, but I wouldn't back off of his safety.

'Tanner is welcome with open arms anytime, unharmed and untouched.

'He will leave once I am settled in. I will see to it he leaves the territory in one piece.

'So, you shall. We will see you shortly, Luna.' Liam said before disconnecting the call.

"Love you to." I murmured sarcastically under my breath, even though he didn't say those words himself, nor did he hear my response.

I then handed Randell his phone back before looking over to Tanner.

"He said you're always welcomed." I repeated Liam's words, making Tanner huff out in response.

"Let's get you packed then." Tanner said as he entered my hotel room, followed by Liam's men, Randell and Jay. When going inside, I looked over to Randell.

"Hey, who was Liam waiting for a decision from and what was he meaning by 'is it done'?"

"He had us doing a side job while in town, nothing concerning you, Luna." Randell stated, still not answering, but his face seemed tense.

"Pack business?"

"Precisely."

"And I am to be the future Luna, shouldn't I be aware?"

"Not yet something to be aware of."

Why are Alpha's so hush hush when it comes to the Luna knowing what is going on? Ezra was the same way. I was determined on changing that. I deserved knowing. At least once I'm the Luna. As of now, I am merely a guest. Once everything was packed and ready, I checked out and we left.

While driving down the road that led to Liam's pack, there were heads on spikes for miles. What the hell is going on here?
