TEGAN'S

P.O.V

I wanted everything to be perfect, but I felt this overwhelming feeling of doubt, that my ideas were worthless. How could I measure up to all the previous Winter Balls over the years? I had seen pictures in the old history books, I just wasn't confident that my ideas

were nearly as good as any of them. But I was determined.

I had managed to get every invite stamped with our official signatures and the Kingdom seal stamp before putting them in the envelopes and placing the waxed seal to the back. It took forever with having so much to do, but in the end it was well worth it. We got them to the post office in time for them to be mailed off as top priority. Now that that's done, the more intense planning would be going down. However, that was all we would do for the night since it was starting to get dark.

"Tomorrow, we need all the servers and assistants the Kingdom pays to be here around 6am so we can start giving out tasks." I said to Ezra as we walked back to our wing.

"I will mindlink them all now so they have time to prepare." He said as his eyes glossed over.

Once we were at our wing, we parted ways. I went to my room and he went to his.

Upon entering, Imagen was long asleep in my bed with Elias curled up beside her. I changed into my nightclothes crawling into the bed next to them ready for sleep to consume me. Within minutes darkness took over and I was gone to the world around me for the time being.

I knew where I was immediately. I was in a vision, or a dream, or premonition, whatever you want to call it. I hadn't had one in so long but I knew the feelings before the darkness around became a scenery. I had come to be so familiar with the way it felt being in one of these. It felt like something heavy was on my chest, almost like I could feel the emotions of everyone at once.

The squeaking of birds above had me looking up. It was like they were signaling me to follow them. I started to walk in the direction of the birds. They were in a line leading me to where I needed to go. Soon a big stone castle came into view. It looked old but well structured. Surrounding it were guards in armor with swords. They stood still, like a statue.

All of a sudden they all stuck their swords in the air in a criss-cross pattern as figures began to walk underneath them.

"We attack tonight." The voice I've come to know well said.

I looked up to get any significance of what day it was. The sun was setting on the east, but there was nothing else around I could see that told me what day it was other than it was warm out.

"Tonight they will be at their weakest, their most vulnerable." A voice said next to him.

"Yes, tonight being the wolf moon the astrological cycles are culminating all at one, this makes it hard for them to communicate or express themselves fully. Therefore, they are more vulnerable to the attack because they won't be able to effectively communicate with one another."

"But the Blood Moon will follow shortly after so we have to be careful, that is when they are at their strongest." The other voice said.

"Precisely. But we need him for the Key. If we don't get him, we cannot unlock the underworld." His voice said before he looked directly at me, making my heart pound in my chest.

I could hear a beeping noise in the distance but it was like I was stuck looking in his evil red eyes.

"Do you hear that?" He asked, his gaze never leaving me.

"No my Lord, I hear nothing."

"Someone is here." He said, making my heart thump even harder.

Was that my alarm clock? Could he hear the beeping too? Was my world leaking into his?

The sounds of a voice screaming my name echoed all around next.

"She's here. She knows." He then said as he shot his hand up toward me.

A green light came directly from his hand right at me. I screamed out as the light hit my arm. My eyes closed as I fell backwards. I quickly opened my eyes in case I had to fight but I was no longer in my dream anymore. My eyes snapped to where Imagen was holding onto my shoulders, like she was shaking me awake. She then released my arms, an ache now present. I looked to the sight of the pain, noticing a bright red mark from where his magic hit me.

Realization sinking in, my world leaked into his and he knew it. I was not physically there, yet he was able to hurt me.

'Is everything okay, you were screaming?' She signed with concern all over her face.

That was the golden question though, was it?

"I... I don't think so." I replied breathlessly.

'Bad dream?'

"More like a reality that is no longer just a dream." I said cuffing my aching arm.

My wolf healing ability was already kicking in but the burn was still bright. I grabbed my phone, snapping a picture for proof.

If my reality was leaking into my dreams, it was becoming extremely dangerous. He has the ability to kill me in my sleep if I am not careful. The downfall being I have no control over when I am sucked into this dream world.

One thing I knew for sure was, he couldn't see me. Which means next time I get sucked into that reality I will have to be more aware, more careful.

"I need to go see Ezra." I then said, jumping up and quickly throwing on clothes, not caring how I looked. "Can you get Elias ready and bring him down after? I am sorry to ask so much of you, but this is urgent." I asked as I looked at her. Her face mirrored my own. Terrified.

'Yeah, don't worry. She signed as I darted across the hall.

It was only 5am so I knew he was probably still asleep. I began knocking on his door until he answered.

He quickly opened the door in a panic.

"Tegan, what's wrong? Is everything okay? Please don't tell me it is about the Ball."

"I had a dream."

"A dream?" He asked, confused.

"Vision, dream, premonition. Whatever... I had one."

"Anything new?" He quickly asked.

"He knew I was there. He hit me with his magic." I said, showing the fading mark on my arm.

He grabbed my arm looking before his eyes shot back to mine.

"You can be harmed in your sleep now?" He asked, I only shook my head yes at his question. "He is coming for him."

"When?" His tone had as much fear as I felt.

That was the million dollar question, when exactly was he coming?
