Chasing My Rejected Luna -
Chapter 88
TEGAN'S P.O.V
I was exhausted from not having any real sleep. Being in a dream like that is basically like being awake in the NREM stage of sleep. In other words, it means you get no rest. Which meant today I was on autopilot. I wasn't in the game like I wanted. My mind couldn't stop thinking about the dream. "Luna Queen, is there something you would like me to do?" A small petite girl asked, taking me out of my thoughts.
"Sorry dear, what is it that you normally do for the Kingdom so I can put you on the right task?" I asked, feeling a sense of guilt for not knowing them all like I should.
"This is Lacey, she works mostly in the kitchen." Ezra said, surprising me that he knew the answer.
"Well, how about you think of some ideas for foods that match the theme of the ball?" I asked, knowing I would also be thinking of food myself, just to be safe. "Absolutely!" Lacey chirped excitedly.
"You seem a bit off, are you sure you don't need to go see Erin?" Ezra asked.
"I am just tired and my brain is elsewhere. Nothing else." I said truthfully.
"How about we delegate the tasks. We work a few hours on the Ball, take a break, work on the interview questions for the potential Alphas for a bit, then we can look up dates for when this wolf moon and blood moon may occur close to one another, deal?" "But the Winter Ball is so important." I exclaimed.
"So is choosing the appropriate Alpha and so is protecting our child and Kingdom from the Demon Lord. We have a lot on our plates, the Ball may be an important event, but some stuff trumps that."
"I cannot be the first Luna Queen to completely ruin the Winter Ball. I refuse to make a fated mate to the King look badly. We will work on them all equally, even if that's a lot to do." I wasn't going to back down from that either.
"Okay, so let's put the dream to the back burner, only temporarily of course and focus on the Ball. Then when we switch tasks we will put the Ball on the back burner. Only focusing on the task at hand. That way we can give each task a hundred percent of our undivided attention. The Alpha interviews won't be hard at all, it'll be easy. Therefore, really our major tasks at hand are the Ball and the Plan for Battle." He said confidently.
He was right, if they both were important then they both needed equal attention. I shook my head in agreement before pulling myself out of my funky daze.
"Okay, attention everyone that is not assigned a task, please gather here as I start delegating tasks. Remember the Ball is very important. Some things have changed and you all can be the first to know of those changes. Any unmated member is now allowed to attend. We will be paying caterers with servers so that it gives our staff the night off to enjoy the Ball. I don't need my employees to be stressed the day of the Ball trying to get food prepared. The stress will just be leading up to the Ball." I said, making a few members laugh while others were excitedly cheering.
"I want to give options to people, so I have a sign up sheet here. I need only a maximum of 10 members per category. Please only choose one you know you can do, like I said the Ball is a big deal. Once everyone has signed up, I will sort the groups and give out tasks." I said as I placed the sign up sheet on a table.
Quickly people ran to get in line. Each signing up for what they wanted. After everyone signed up I took the paper, scanning it. A few spots weren't nearly filled in as others but that wasn't an issue, they knew what they would be good at and I trusted their judgements. I could pick up the slack in the extra areas that needed it.
"Okay, so I would like those who signed up for decorations to gather at table 1, those who signed up for dinner ideas table 2, those who signed up for music table 3... " I went on saying the other categories.
I had already set up tables with numbers and each table had papers and pencils. Once I was done and everyone was at their numbered table, I decided to walk around to see if anyone needed anything before I also went to my own table to start writing down ideas. The best way to choose the best plans for a party is to get into everyone's minds and pick what would make the night perfect.
After checking in on everyone I headed to go sit at the table Ezra was already sitting at. His eyes watching my every move. I took a seat quickly, grabbing a piece of paper.
"That was nice to watch." He said, jokingly.
"What delegating tasks?"
"Commanding attention."
"I was not commanding." I said defensively.
"Didn't need to, you had it from the beginning. You definitely had my attention." He said as he slid over a paper.
"Oh, you were writing down some ideas already?" I asked as I slid the paper closer.
"They are definitely ideas." He said with a wink.
I looked down at the paper and began to read the words. I could feel heat as it rose to my cheeks from embarrassment.
"Do you like my ideas?" He asked in a hushed sultry tone.
"Hardly appropriate for the setting." I said as I looked up, seeing (**t burning in his eyes.
"You taking action and control inspired me." He said again, making me look back at the paper.
'I will let him do all of that to us. Gemma said, making me even more embarrassed than before.
I folded the paper and put it into my pocket. I couldn't sit here and think about the words on it. The things it did to me and the distraction it would cause would interfere with our task. However, something inside of me, probably Gemma, but maybe even something far greater wanted me to save it. "Now let's give our undivided attention to the task at hand." I said, quoting him from earlier.
"Fine, party pooper." Ezra said as he grabbed a blank paper. He was staring at it as if it would swallow him whole.
We finally were all done and was able to surf through everyone's ideas voting on the best ones. I then sent groups out to buy the items listed for each idea. After the items are all purchased we could finally focus on setting it up for the Ball. In the meantime I had a ton of calls to make to get paid outside help for the Ball.
I could feel the burning stare on my back of Ezra watching me, making me want to reenact the words on the paper in my pocket.
