TEGAN'S

P.O.V

Once we pulled away, both of us were breathless. He mirrored what I assumed my face looked like. Surprised. Like I said, I've been so hot and cold. This was our first kiss since before he rejected me and I gave no warning before I attacked his face. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't... -" I began to say before he pulled me in for another, cutting me off mid-sentence.

Once our blissful moment ended, clapping sounded from behind us.

"It's about damn time." A masculine voice echoed from behind.

We turned to see Tanner approaching us with a smile. Ezra's face immediately looked confused. Which made sense, I hadn't exactly shown him that Tanner and I were so not into one another. I actually did the complete opposite. I used every chance with Tanner to make Ezra angry and jealous. Immature, I know.

"I was beginning to think I would die before y'all made up." He then said, making me giggle a little.

"And who do we have here?" I asked, looking over to the person whose small hand was firmly clasped in Tanner's massive one.

"My mate." He said with pride in his eyes.

"Your what?" Ezra asked, confusion all over his face.

"Mate." Tanner repeated.

Ezra's eyes then went between the two of them before darting to me. He was confused beyond belief.

"But that's a... -"

"Alpha King, Ezra; Luna Queen, Tegan. Meet my mate, Tristen." Tanner cut into Ezra's thoughts as Tristen bowed.

"Nice to meet you, Tristen." I said with a smile across my face, Ezra's face still obviously not changing.

"I can see where you would be confused." Tanner said, looking over to me with an annoyed look.

"So does that mean you bat for both teams?" Ezra then asked, looking between us.

"Nope, just your side." He replied, making me laugh. "I tried making Tegan tell you, but she insisted on making you worry." He then said, making me bite my lip.

"You knew I was concerned?" Ezra then asked, looking over to me.

"To be fair you deserved to feel like you had a little competition. Even if it wasn't real." I then said.

"Liam wasn't enough?" He asked, hitting a sore spot.

"I wanted to tell you, but she told me she'd cut my d**k off if I did, and obviously I need that." Tanner said, making his partner erupt in a fit of giggles.

"That's what you get for assuming and not just asking." I said, making Ezra shake his head in agreement.

"You're right. Next time, I'll ask."

"There won't be a next time." I said, looking back at him.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means, I am yours and you are mine. There will never be another time for us to feel like we have to compete."

"So, you're not mad anymore?" He asked. A glimmer of hope shimmering in his eyes.

"I still have concerns about the dream, but I haven't given you the chance to explain. A dream is a dream and that's it."

"I'm glad, but what about the anger from what happened?"

"It's history, something that needed to happen to make me stronger. Without the past, I wouldn't be who I am today."

"Well, we will leave you guys to it. We want to go get our groove on." Tanner said, interrupting our conversation.

I looked around the room for the first time since arriving. The room was now filled with many guests, damn near packed honestly.

"It turned out amazing." Ezra yelled out as the sound of the music began to blare over the speakers.

"It really did." I said more cheerfully.

I then felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see Ezra smiling his pearly white smile.

"May I have this dance?" He asked with his hand extended.

"You may, my King." I said with a small curtsy.

We entered the dance floor as he spun me around. Our bodies began to grind against one another when the song changed to an upbeat, tense, and s****l tune. The night was going perfectly, I couldn't believe how happy I felt. I hadn't felt this free and happy, literally ever. Multiple songs had already played all the way through before we finally decided to go mingle amongst the others.

When getting off the dance floor I first noticed Tanner in the corner, his face glued to his mate's. I then scanned the room looking for Imagen, immediately feeling guilty. I was completely consumed with Ezra, I momentarily forgot about her situation. I kept looking only to be disappointed when she was nowhere to be seen.

I however, did see many others completely consumed with another person. Hopefully they found their mates and not just jump into bed with a random person. Not that I was completely against it, I was definitely okay with people having relations if they hadn't found their mate. However, the point of inviting more people was to bring everyone together in hopes of replaceing their mates.

"Looking for someone?" Ezra's hot breath whispered in my ear as his hand caressed my hips making me feel hot all over where his hands touched.

"Imagen, she told me she found her mate before the ball."

"Well maybe they are off having mate time." He said with a chuckle.

"I doubt it, she was distraught about who it was. I'm kind of concerned, truth be told."

"We can go look for her if you want?"

"I can't leave the ball, I am the hostess. It'll have to wait till after." I said disappointingly.

"I can always go replace her?"

"No, the King and Queen should be present for this event. It's the biggest event for the Kingdom." "They won't notice."

"Trust me, they would." I said.

"Fine, after the ball we will go look for Imagen and make sure she is okay." He finally said, agreeing.

We spent the remainder of the time walking around mingling with the Alpha's of the other Packs. To my surprise my brother, Darion, was here. My father however was not. Thank the Goddess, the last thing I needed was him acting a fool at such an important event. Darion was of course hitting on any girl who gave him the time of day. Fredrick, however, was lurking in the shadows. He probably wanted to stay out of Darion's sight. I don't blame him but at the same time he should own himself and show Darion that he doesn't care, even if he did. "You okay Fred?" I asked as I approached him.

"Just peachy." He replied sarcastically as he took another swing of his whiskey.

"Careful there, you might actually get drunk. They mixed a little wolfsbane in to help enhance the drinks to lighten the mood." I said looking at his face.

"Great, even better." He said, taking another large swig.

"Are you okay?" I asked before a scream hollered out.

"THAT'S HER DAD, SHE WAS THE ONE THAT DARED TO DISRESPECT ME!" The annoying, yet familiar male voice screamed. Adien started to approach with his finger pointing directly at me.
