Comeback Of The Adored Heiress -
Chapter 305
Chapter 305:
Sarai furrowed her brow as she looked at Rowan. “Darling, what was on your mind? You seemed lost in thought.”
“Oh, nothing. What’s the matter?” Rowan replied.
Sarai scrutinized his pale face with a hint of suspicion. “I just wanted to ask about our deal with the Chapman family. Did Glenn agree to transfer the company?”
“Well, he wants me to deal with this issue,” Rowan said, his face growing even paler. “Do you think Glenn knows it was my doing?”
Sarai’s frustration grew at Rowan’s pathetic state. “You’re really not helping, Rowan. Your brother is testing you. He might be testing everyone, and you’re the most suspicious. It’s no surprise he’s been in business for so long; he’s incredibly clever. You just can’t compete with him.”
Rowan suddenly understood. “So that’s what’s going on.”
“Rowan, you need to stick with our plan,” Sarai said, holding his hand. “Your brother is testing you. You’re innocent. You don’t know anything. It’s all his fault. If he hadn’t been so devastated by Madisyn’s death, the documents wouldn’t have been lost.” Sarai’s words worked like a spell on Rowan.
He kept repeating, “It’s Glenn’s fault. It’s Glenn’s fault.” Seeing Rowan’s reaction, Sarai felt a sense of satisfaction. “Yes, it’s definitely your brother’s fault. Rowan, you’re exhausted. You need to get some rest.”
She guided Rowan to the room where he could rest.
On the other hand, Glenn had returned home.
At that time, Howard was waiting for him at home, and Dane had also come after hearing about the situation.
“Dad.”
When they saw Glenn, they both stood up.
Howard had just heard about Madisyn’s car accident, and his eyes were filled with tears. “Is Madisyn really…?”
Howard’s once elegant and handsome features were now marked by deep pain. He stared at Glenn, as if he were on the verge of breaking down in tears.
Glenn said gravely, “We must keep this matter secret. No one is to talk about it.”
Howard, quick on the uptake, grasped the situation from Glenn’s words. He felt a wave of relief. It seemed his sister was fine.
“So, where is Madisyn now?” Howard asked with urgency.
Glenn gave him a brief glance but remained silent. Howard quickly understood that pressing further was not an option and fell silent, though his concern remained. Even if Madisyn wasn’t dead, her situation was undoubtedly precarious.
Dane’s voice was icy. “The Chapman family is really looking for trouble, and it looks like Uncle Rowan and his family are part of it. They really can’t be kept around.”
Glenn’s face hardened. “I’ll give Rowan one day to see if he’ll change his mind.”
“Huh!” Dane sneered coldly.
Although Glenn valued their family bond, Dane clearly saw that Rowan, someone who took every chance to advance, wouldn’t just back down. After all, Rowan had been kept in check by Glenn for years.
Meanwhile, the Chapman family had ordered a lavish spread at the hotel.
The meal, costing tens of thousands of dollars, was a record for them. The staff treated them with exceptional respect. Jeffry appeared to be back at his best, drinking heavily and laughing heartily with a flushed face. “I never thought we’d actually take control of the Johns Group. From now on, I’ll be the richest man in Gemond!”
Phyllis advised, “Honey, maybe you should pace yourself a bit.”
Jenna chimed in, “Mom, let Dad have his fun. It’s been a long time since we last had such a celebration.”
“Alright, alright, let him enjoy himself,” Phyllis said, casting a warm look at Jenna. “Jenna, you’re incredible. With Rowan and his family’s help, you’ve managed to back the Johns Group into a corner. You’ve done a fantastic job.”
“I just want to do my part for Dad and Mom,” Jenna replied, her tone earnest.
Phyllis’s expression shifted to one of avarice. “But we’ve put in so much effort to take over the Johns Group. Are we really going to just hand it back to them?”
Jenna’s eyes gleamed with a touch of greed. “Hmph, once we’ve got the Johns Group, whether we give it back is entirely up to us.”
Jeffry watched his wife and daughter with a hearty laugh. “Just like I expected from my wife and daughter. I never planned on handing the Johns Group back. It’s ours now. Why would we ever give it up? In the end, it’s us who will be in demand.”
“Haha, Dad, you’re brilliant.”
The three of them, united in their selfish plans, laughed heartily together in their private room.
Meanwhile, another family was enjoying their own happiness.
Once Sarai had put Rowan to bed, she went out shopping with Courtney.
They bought everything they had previously hesitated to purchase. Courtney, making a grand gesture, instructed, “Pack up everything in this row for me.”
Sarai, looking worried, responded, “Courtney, are you sure about this? Isn’t it a bit too much? We don’t have much savings left right now.”
