Chapter 430:

“I know, but he chose not to use them.” Madisyn smiled as she looked at Susan and Dane. “How have you been lately?”

“Good,” Dane replied, giving Susan a warm smile. “We’re planning to get engaged.”

“When?” Madisyn asked, surprised.

“Next month.”

Susan seemed a bit hesitant but added, “We haven’t set a specific date yet. I’ll let you know once we decide.”

“Okay, Mom will be thrilled to hear about it,” Madisyn said, genuinely happy for them.

They then shared a meal. These occasional gatherings made Madisyn feel relaxed and joyful. Later, they strolled through a nearby shopping mall, allowing Madisyn to check out the marketing scene. Dane ran into a business partner and needed to discuss work, so he handed Susan a credit card and said, “Feel free to buy whatever you like with this.”

Susan hesitated to take it, so Madisyn quickly placed it in her hand, saying, “You’re about to be married. There’s no need to be shy!” Susan blushed.

“Where should we go?” Madisyn asked.

“Let’s head to the Natural Beauty store,” Susan suggested. They both had the same idea.

The Natural Beauty store was quiet, with only a few customers. While browsing, they spotted someone they knew. It was Josie—dressed in a new Chanel outfit. Josie looked down at the skincare products with disdain. A saleswoman approached to help, but Josie said, “These products are too cheap for my taste.” The saleswoman looked awkward. “Thanks. Your opinion is noted.”

This made the other customers in the store start to hesitate.

“Have you ever considered how it reflects on you when you call other products cheap?” a cool voice said.

Josie scowled, and upon spotting Madisyn and Susan approaching, she sneered dismissively. “Oh, it’s you. Since you developed these products, you wouldn’t replace them cheap. But from a customer’s perspective, I think they are. Why shouldn’t I say so?”

Josie’s arrogance was palpable! Susan was visibly upset but responded calmly. “You’re free to express your opinion. However, it only shows your willingness to hurt others without a second thought and your lack of empathy. That kind of behavior is what’s truly cheap and harmful to society.”

“You—” Josie clenched her teeth and said, “Don’t act so high and mighty. Your products are worthless!” Thinking about her product sales, Josie crossed her arms and said, “Your sales are just one-tenth of ours, Madisyn. Haven’t you noticed what’s wrong?”

“Everyone is perfect. It’s not a big deal. I just need to stay true to myself.”

“Just a few days ago, you were outselling us. But now, our new products are dominating yours. Haven’t you figured out why? If you had chosen Jada instead of Susan, things might have been different.” Josie raised an eyebrow. “It’s no wonder nobody likes Susan. She really lacks capability.”

Susan’s expression turned stern. “Josie, what’s wrong with you?”

“It’s not just my opinion; it’s the truth. Susan, don’t you feel guilty for dragging Madisyn down? What can you do besides attract men?” Josie was bitter, recalling how Susan had won over the man she liked.

“It’s only the beginning. How can you judge the outcome already? Your view is too shallow,” Madisyn said firmly. “If you’re not here to shop, please leave. Don’t disturb our customers!”

At that moment, everyone understood that Josie was representing Migge Skincare. Migge Skincare was distasteful. Even though their products sold well, they shouldn’t send someone to denigrate competitors.

“Leave now. You are not welcome!”

“That’s right. Such rudeness from Migge Skincare!”

“You should go back to Migge Skincare. Don’t come to Natural Beauty just to upset us!”

The other customers all agreed that Josie was extremely bothersome.

Josie was unprepared for the ridicule. She clenched her teeth and shot Susan a fierce glare.

As she left, she encountered Dane, whom she hadn’t seen in a long while. Her eyes immediately brightened.

She felt sad, thinking how long it had been since she last saw Dane.

Dane ignored her completely and walked straight into the store to join Susan and Madisyn in conversation. Watching the three, Josie felt utterly excluded. She clenched her fists and felt a surge of injustice. She wondered why she couldn’t measure up to Susan. When the three came out, Josie approached Dane and blurted out, “Dane, Susan doesn’t deserve you at all!”

“Josie, I’m not in the mood for nonsense. If you want to instigate trouble, you should leave!” Dane snapped.

Josie was stunned. It was the first time she had been shouted at like this. Seconds later, tears streamed down her face.

“Dane… I’m just looking out for you. Susan is a failure. You can see their new products aren’t selling well, while ours are flying off the shelves,” she said, expressing her feelings. “Susan can’t help you in any way.”

“I don’t need her help. I just need her by my side.” Holding Susan’s hand, Dane said tenderly, “We’re getting married soon. I care about your reputation, so stop bothering Susan.”
