I had expected O’Brien to respond to my questions but he didn’t, it’s like I was just trying to fight him and unfortunately he wasn’t having it.

After lunch I told him I needed to go home and he had to get back to the birthday, so he dropped me here with the shopping bags. I couldn’t help but smile at his thoughtfulness, the bags were full of all my favourite snacks and drinks.

The door opens, Nancy and Caleb are here. I am in the kitchen making dinner and the headache is almost gone.

‘Someone looks better than they did in the morning.’ Nancy teases coming to hug me, she is smelling of wine

‘Looks like someone is in a good mood.’ I respond holding her tight

‘You know what, Besa is an arse. I just don’t understand why he would lead that girl on and make a whole birthday party for her just to dump her. He is evil.’ She says

‘What?’ I ask turning to look at her

‘Exactly what I told you, he hasn’t been the nicest of people. He was going to kill her with his bare hands and she has lost so much now he will just walk out like nothing happened?’

‘You need to rest.’ Caleb says holding her by the hand

‘I am still talking to her because she is his next target, he is going to do everything possible to break her spirit and make her one of his puppets. When is all of this going to come to a stop? Until we have more Astridahs?’

I can see that her eyes are teary, Caleb on the other hand is mighty upset I am scared for his wife.

‘Nancy in the bedroom now!’ He growls scaring the life out of me

The two walk out of the kitchen and a few minutes later Caleb returns.

‘I am sorry about that, she had too much to drink.’

‘I don’t think so.’

‘What?’

‘I don’t think she had too much to drink, I spoke to Astridah and chilled with her for hours. There is a side of her that was scared, a side of her that was hidden inside and Besa unfortunately was responsible.’

‘Did she tell you that?’

‘Caleb I don’t have to be told to know that he was manhandling her, that girl was flinching at being held and there is a side of Besa that freaks me out. A dark side.’

‘Stay away from their issues, whatever it is I am sure they will sort it out.’

I scoff

‘And what is that about?’

‘They will sort it out? After he embarrasses her in front of his people how are they supposed to sort it out? A decent man was going to end things in private without being a dickhead.’

‘Language.’

‘Your friend pisses me off.’ I say before clicking my tongue and he chooses that moment to call

I put my phone on speaker so that Caleb can hear what I am talking about.

‘You didn’t come.’

‘You wanted me to witness that shameful act?’

‘I told you you had to be there, why do you have to be so stubborn.’

‘Besa I don’t understand why you keep talking to me like I am your girlfriend or your friend, why can’t you understand that I am neither of the two and I would really appreciate if you just stay away from me.’

‘Now you listen to me.’

‘No you listen to me.’ I say cutting him short

‘You will not dare call me again Besa, this should be the last time that you reach or talk to me because God knows I will bring hell upon you.’

‘Are you sure you know what you are saying?’

I cut the line and turn to look at Caleb

‘See what I was telling you.’

‘Let me deal with this, block his line and delete it. If ever he gets anywhere close to you I will be the one to deal with him.’

I sigh in frustration, I don’t know why Besa is behaving like this. He is showing me a side of him that I didn’t know existed and I hate that Caleb is now involved because they have been friends a long time and it will break my heart is the two get on each other’s toes or lose what they have because of me. But then again someone has to put him in his place.
