Divorcing Cheating -
Chapter 11
Chapter 11 Why You
I still attended the banquet.
After taking over the company, I desperately needed connections and resources,
Upon my arrival, Chris was the center of attention, casually responding to everyone while scanning the crowd for someone specific.
His eyes lit up when he spotted me.
Evading the crowd, he approached me. “Amber, I knew you’d come.”
Gently taking my hand, he whispered, “I’ll announce to everyone later that you’re the only woman I want to marry.” Once, I craved his acknowledgment, his gaze.
Now, his affections were irrelevant, his desperation evident.
Yanking my hand free, I retorted, “Don’t be ridiculous, Chris. I’m not here for you.”
“Don’t be coy. If you’re not here for me, then who are you here for?”
Conveniently, someone with a wine glass approached, “Mr. Walker, who might this be?”
Chris smirked, “My fiancée.”
I frowned and said, “I am not!”
Chris sighed helplessly, “Just playing around with me.”
The newcomer gasped, “Someone dares to play around with Mr. Walker? You’ll need to sweeten her up, Mr. Walker.”
After the person left, I turned cold. “Is this amusing, Chris? We’re over.”
He stubbornly held my hand. “Amusing! Now that you’re here, I’m not letting you go.”
He followed me like a shadow, hindering my networking efforts.
Finally, Mason called him away.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
As I turned around, I was met by Sharon’s piercing gaze from the corner of the room..
She was Chris‘ usual companion, so her presence at this event was no surprise,
With her usual pretense of affection for Chris discarded, she approached me with a natural air of authority.
Her eyes held an evil glint. “I never expected him to bring you along.”
“I didn’t come with him,” I denied, but Sharon refused to believe me.
“Why you?” she sneered coldly.
“What makes you so unique? Why does everyone adore you? Why do you excel in everything you do? Why does all the attention gravitate toward you? Why did Mom choose you over me?
“But it doesn’t matter. Chris will always be mine.”
I furrowed my brows, baffled by her intense hatred.
When our parents divorced, mom had insisted on keeping both of us children.
It was Sharon who had chosen to follow Dad abroad. She was seeking a life of luxury.
Not wanting to engage with her, I retorted, “I think you are crazy.”
She scoffed, “You think you’re so clever, don’t you? Chris will always be mine.”
I met her gaze. “So confident, are you? So that’s why you lied to him, telling him you were the one who convinced Dad to adopt him?”
A flicker of surprise crossed her face, taken aback by my revelation.
I swirled the red wine in my glass. “What do you think his reaction would be if I told him that not only did you lie to him but also that you considered him filthy and prevented our parents from saving him?”
A hint of panic flashed in her eyes, but an air of self–assurance quickly replaced it.
She smirked, acknowledging, “Yes, I lied to him. So what? Go ahead and tell him you’re the one who saved him. Let’s see if he believes you or me.
“Mon is dead, and Dad will only side with me. Who’s left to back you up?”
