Chapter 94: Breaking Free from Pain

Candy’s jaw dropped. “What on earth are you talking about?” she exclaimed.

You’ve been building up to this for ages, and all you said was, “Good luck with your new life!”

She had been waiting all this time for nothing.

Chloe was a bit taken aback, but the next second she burst into at

smile. “Thanks, I will!

In the end, Quinn couldn’t bring himself to confess his feelings. No rush, he thought. Today wasn’t the day.

He’d wait until she was officially divorced from Michael and truly free, then he’d tell her.

He’d already waited this long; one more day wouldn’t make a

difference.

“Hey, my friend said your phone is fixed and ready to go.”

Chloe’s mind was a bit foggy. It took her a while to remember the recording of her and Lucy’s conversation on that phone.

But tomorrow she’s getting divorced, so that recording won’t

She wished Michael and Lucy a lifetime of happiness together.

She had no interest in exposing Lucy’s true colors anymore. After all, they would never see each other again.

Chloe waved her hand dismissively. “Forget it, I don’t need it anymore.”

After leaving Lotus Manor, Michael went to meet up with his friends.

Owen was the first to arrive at the club, with Lucy right on his heels.

They had a regular private room at the club, and it was pretty quiet.

“Why’d you drag us out here in the middle of the night?” Owen asked quietly, sitting next to him.

Knowing Michael, he wouldn’t show up unless something big happened.

Michael’s eyes flickered. “Chloe and I are filing for divorce tomorrow,” he said.

Owen and Lucy froze.

The news hit them out of the blue, leaving everyone stunned.

It took a while, but Owen finally rested his hand on his shoulder.

“Finally, Michael. Chloe’s been dragging you down for three years. Today she’s out shopping and dining with another guy. Divorce is the best thing for you. She doesn’t deserve you.”

Owen usually stayed out of things between him and Chloe, but he never really respected Chloe.

After she deliberately embarrassed Lucy at Shawn Heavy Industries last time, he despised her even more.

Hearing Michael talk about divorce, he stopped hiding his feelings and his words turned sharp.

Lucy was over the moon. She had waited so long, and finally, Chloe agreed to set Michael free.

Once they’re divorced, she’ll eventually become the lady of the Shawn family.

Lucy tugged at Owen’s sleeve.

“Owen, cut Chloe some slack. Sure, people at work are

misunderstanding me because of this, but Chloe didn’t mean any harm. So, just drop it, alright?”

Despite her own reputation being damaged, she defended Chloe, insisting Chloe didn’t mean to do it.

Owen couldn’t help but think she was a total fool, still helping Chloe even after being betrayed by her.

He saw Chloe as a petty, vindictive woman, not even close to being in the same league as Lucy.

“Forget about that annoying woman. We’re here today to celebrate your freedom. No more Chloe holding you back!”

Owen raised his glass, ready to loast Michael.

But as Michael listened to them, a knot of uncase tightened in his chest.

“Am I the one escaping the pain? Shouldn’t it be Chloe who’s free from it?”

“She was so eager to divorce me, she even had the papers ready in the drawer…”
