Chapter 31: A Touch of Rosy Twilight
Giselle tenderly cradled the jewelry, her face squeezing into a smile as she spoke, her eyes glistening slightly, "My dear, this set of jewels was your grandfather's most treasured. It's finally back home, my dear..." Now in her seventies, grandma's eyes welled up with tears once more.
Giselle couldn't help but join her in tears, the two embracing and dabbing at their eyes together.
Since her mother's death, grandma had been the one who cherished her the most.
She had reclaimed both the family heirloom and her grandmother. Thankfully, with Henry by her side, Giselle felt an overwhelming sense of relief.
Even though he had caged her, he had also rescued her from dire circumstances.
After more conversation, a doctor came to check on grandma. Once he confirmed all her health indicators were fine, he left the room.
Giselle watched the doctor leave, catching sight of Henry leaning casually against the corridor wall outside.
As she glanced over, Henry looked up, their eyes meeting in a silent exchange.
To Giselle, he seemed like an indifferent lion surveying his domain-poised yet listless, offering a fleeting glance out of boredom before retreating into his solitude.
The corridor light cast serene shadows around him, underscoring a chilling solitude.
After speaking a little longer, Giselle, reluctant to keep Henry waiting, said her goodbyes to her grandmother with a heavy heart.
She exited the room and saw Henry finishing a phone call. His voice was deep and resonant as he hung up and approached her to ask, "How's grandma?"
Moved by gratitude, and relieved to see her grandmother in good health, Giselle managed a small smile and replied, "She's recovering well, thank you."
Henry wrapped an arm around her slender waist and whispered into her ear, "Would you thank me by having a child?"
His warm breath lingered on her ear, a particularly sensitive spot for Giselle, causing her to involuntarily tense up as her cheeks flushed a deep pink.
It was impossible. She reaffirmed silently to herself.
They took the elevator down, with Henry steering her towards the medical examination wing, the opposite direction of the exit.
Sensing something amiss, Giselle halted, her tone laced with suspicion, "Aren't we going back?"

"We might as well get checked out since we're here,"
Henry suggested smoothly, caressing her abdomen. "It's been so long without any signs; let's investigate it together."
Alarm bells rang in Giselle's mind, and she quickly refused, "I don't want an examination."
She could acquiesce to many things, but pregnancy was not one of them.
Henry was desperate for a child with Giselle to anchor her to his life, tormented by nightmares of her fleeing again, his insecurity wearing him down.
"You don't have a choice in this matter," Henry declared resolutely, pulling her towards the examination room.
Stunned by his insistence and equally resolute, Giselle objected, "I don't want to do this."
But her physical strength was no match for Henry's.
Internally, Giselle cursed her fate, knowing if the examination proceeded and Henry discovered her contraceptive use, his rage might well confine her once again.

Giselle fought to steady her nerves and struck by a sudden inspiration, she wrapped her arms around Henry's waist, pressing herself against him with suggestive intent. "You..." Henry stopped abruptly as the soft touch of Giselle's body triggered an unmistakable reaction. With a voice rough with desire, he asked, "What are you doing?" Giselle let her eyes smolder with seduction, her voice a soft, enticing whisper, "I've prepared a birthday gift for you. But if you insist on that check-up, you can forget about your present." She was like a siren from the ancient myths, her allure impossible to resist. At that moment, as Henry looked down into her soft, pleading eyes, his heart skipped a beat.
Clearly, her flirtation was working. Without another thought, Henry spun around, swept Giselle into his arms, and stepped into the elevator.
The space inside was tight. He backed her into a corner and, with a commanding grip, tilted her chin up for a kiss.
Flushed and breathless, Giselle placed her hands on his sturdy chest, and murmured shyly, "Wait, there's a camera here."
