Evil Angels
Chapter 10

Alexandra’s POV

I soared through the night feeling the moonlight shining off my wings.

Damn this is an amazing feeling.

I circled around enjoying the wind pushing past me. Then, I felt the presence.

Nathan Stevenson. Age 45. 578 Rose Rd., Shirley, Montana. Time of death in ten minutes by overdose.

Well this is going to be a fun one.

I sighed, turning my wings toward that direction.

I have been guiding souls for about a month now without Larus’ help. It was actually a really great thing to be a part of, except when you get people like my soon to be friend, Nathan.

I landed on top of his shack of a house’s roof. A strong smell close to vinegar filled my nose.

Heroin… a lot of heroin.

I listened, hearing a soft sound of a heart beating.

Time of death: two minutes...

I jumped off the roof and walked into the door, replaceing the middle aged man laying on the floor. His clothes were dirty like the inside of his shack. His breathing was shallow and his skin pale. I walked up next to him, kneeling down.

“Are you the devil?,” he whispered to me.

I licked over my razor sharp teeth, “No, Nathan. I am here to guide your soul when you die in about a minute now.”

He took a deep breath, “I am dying.”

“Yes and things aren’t looking good for you. You haven’t been playing well with others, Nathan, and now you have to pay for it.”

He shook his head, “I haven’t done shit, you bitch.”

I laughed, “Arguing with me isn’t going to change anything. I know you used to abuse your wife before she escaped from this piece of shit you call your home. Now, goodbye Nathan.”

He was about to say something but his heartbeat slowed then stopped completely as he took one last breath.

Time of death 12:08 p.m.

A faint glow arose around his body and began to float up towards the roof.

Oh no you don’t. Down you go Nathan.

I took my clawed hand and pushed it down, watching it fade into the Earth until it disappeared.

You got what you deserved, asshole.

I stood and walked outside. My eyes glanced up at the moon, analyzing each crater’s detail. I focused my eyes harder, seeing Jupiter with all it’s beautiful swirls of color.

Thank you crazy angel sight.

“Fledgling, I am coming home now. I will be home in five minutes,” Larus spoke in my head.

“I am coming home too. Meet you halfway?”

“Perfect, see you at the fields then.”

I wrapped my tail around my leg and took off into the air. Within a few minutes, I was circling above the fields, waiting for Larus. I listened, hearing his gigantic wings flapping towards me. As he got closer he circled around me, “Hello, fledgling, how was your soul?”

I sighed, “A junkie that cursed me out before he died.”

He laughed, “You are definitely a magnet for the strange ones. I just had an old woman pass on. I didn’t have to do much. She didn’t do anything so I let her float on.”

I sighed, “Must be nice to get the easy ones… anyways I could really use some coffee right now though.”

He smirked, “Oh so you are warming up to drinking coffee now I see.”

“Yeah definitely because we don’t sleep that much. I just feel tired.”

He circled around me, “Okay, old lady isn’t used to no sleep yet. I will race you back.”

I laughed, “Please, I am still faster than you. See you at home.”

I flapped my wings and dived down a bit to catch the most wind. I could hear Larus above me trying to get ahead but the wind changed directions, pushing against the both of us. My small wings were much easier to cut through the wind and soon the castle was clearly in sight. I pointed my wings up and perched myself on the top of the castle’s roof with Larus not far behind. Both of us were out of breath and sat down with our legs hanging off the edge.

Larus laid back, getting his breathing under control, “Well you definitely still are the faster one.”

“Definitely, I beat you by at least ten seconds! Now how about that coffee?”

He nodded, “Yes. Race you.”

He slid off the roof using his wings to slow his fall.

I shook my head at him, “You cheater! Your wings are literally just two big parachutes!”

I heard the faint sound of him laughing as he walked inside.

I pushed myself up and dropped down to my open bedroom window, “Old man.”
