Chapter 11

Farren’s POV

Almost reaching the entrance, I instinctively veered to the right, only to be startled by a sudden touch on my shoulder,

With a silent gasp, I looked back to face my assailant. But relief washed over me as I recognized who it was.

“Hey,” my friend, Jasmine, said.

Her hand on my shoulder loosened as she asked, “What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

A sigh of relief escaped my l*ps as I replied, “I’m just glad it’s you, Jasmine.”

Curiosity etched across her face, she inquired, “Why? Has something happened?”

With a heavy heart, I confessed, “Someone vandalized my car. The windows were shattered.”

“What?!” Jasmine exclaimed.

“When I went to the garage, my car’s windows shattered, and garbage was inside.”

“Oh, my goodness. Who in their right mind would commit such an outrageous act?” Jasmine questioned.

As our eyes met for the second time, it was as if she could read my thoughts.

“Please don’t tell me…” she trailed off.

I nodded solemnly. “It’s possible that my own father is behind this.”

“That sh*t,” she cursed under her breath. “Come with me; let’s go back inside and review the CCTV footage.”

Jasmine gently pulled me away from the underground garage as I took one last glance at the scene of the crime.

Together, we made our way to the security department to examine the CCTV

recordings. Unfortunately, we discovered that the cameras near my parked car were not functioning.

Chapter 11

You know, it might be wise to involve the police and seek their assistance. If your father is responsible for this, you need to be cautious,Jasmine suggested, her voice filled with concern.

I nodded in agreement. “You’re right. I’ll contact the authorities and ask for their help.”

Do you need a ride home

“Nah, I’ll just catch the bus or grab a taxi.”

“But I don’t feel comfortable letting you go alone like that. Think about it from my perspective as your friend. Can I go home and relax comfortably? Nope. So, here’s a better idea. My brother has an extra car. Maybe you can borrow it for now. What do you say?”

Jasmine makes a valid argument. It would be riskier to rely on public transportation since it would be easier for someone to track me.

If it turns out to be my dad, I can’t reveal my home address to him.

“Alright. I’ll borrow your brother’s car for now. Thanks, Jasmine.”

“Perfect! Now, call the police and file a report. After that, I’ll reach out to my brother.”

I made the call to the police and reported what happened. Meanwhile, Jasmine reached

out to her brother to see if he could bring his car over.

I was a little embarrassed about borrowing her brother’s car, but I didn’t have any

ve any other options at the moment. Plus, I didn’t want to bother Alaric and ask him for a ride.

“Farren! Did you call the police?” Jasmine asked when she came back from talking to her brother.

“Yes, I did. They said they’ll look into the case,” I replied.

Awesome. My brother is actually on his way here too,” she mentioned.

“I think this will be the first time I meet your brother,” I pointed out.

Exactly!” she chuckled. “We’ve been friends for so long, but I never had the chance to introduce you to him. He’s been traveling a lot. He just came back from Argentina a month ago.”

Really? He must really enjoy traveling. What does he do for a living?

“He’s a photographer, a painter, a sculptor, an art professor. He’s in the artistic field,” Jasmine explained.

“Wow. That’s impressive,” I complimented.

“I think he’ll be even more impressive if he decides to settle down here,” Jasmine suddenly turned towards me and pointed at my face. “I have to warn you, though. Never fall in love with my brother.”

I pulled my face back, pretending to be shocked. “What?”

“I know you’re married. But I still feel the need to warn you,” she added.

I mumbled, chuckling, “What are you even talking about?”

Jasmine confessed, “Honestly, I hate to admit it, but my brother is good–looking. Maybe it’s because we have different dads? He inherited all the good looks from the father I’ve only seen in a picture inside my mom’s wallet.”

Not particularly interested in her brother’s appearance, I simply nodded. I’m not blind to appreciate attractive faces every now and then. I sometimes catch myself admiring handsome people on the street.

My husband is also handsome, but I do not easily fall for looks. Either way, this conversation managed to distract me from my current problem.

After a while, Jasmine received a text from her brother.

“Oh, he’s here. He’s standing in front of the building,” Jasmine informed. “Let’s go.”

The two of us left the company building through the main entrance.

I spotted the black car and a guy standing under the moonlight from a distance. He had his back facing us and appeared to be lost in admiration of the moon. Probably an artist. who appreciates the wonders of nature, I thought.

“Max!” Jasmine shouted, waving her hand.

Simultaneously, her brother spun around. That’s when I noticed his strikingly. handsome face with dazzling blond hair.

I couldn’t help but frown at the sheer attractiveness of this man.

‘Do people actually exist who are ridiculously good–looking like him?‘ I pondered.

Chapter 11

He appeared as if he was a heavenly being sent down to bring comfort to the unfortunate and the sorrowful.

His hair shimmered like pure gold under the moon’s gentle glow, as if the moon and sun were harmoniously united. And his eyes, cool and serene, resembled the color of emerald seas:

His perfectly sculpted nose seemed to have been crafted by a master artist, while his soft l*ps resembled the handiwork of a goddess who dedicated three days and nights to their creation.

His features were both refined and delicate, and his long, slender n*eck exuded a captivating masculine charm.

Such was his beauty that I couldn’t tear my gaze away from him, not even for a moment. It felt as though time itself slowed down in his presence.

It was then.

The man with an angelic appearance came up to me and opened his mouth.

“Is this your friend, Farren?” he asked smoothly and softly, reaching my eardrums.

“It’s nice to meet you, Farren. My sister has told me a lot about you,” he said, extending his hand.

“I’m Maxwell, but you can call me Max,” he introduced himself.

I was so surprised that I couldn’t react quickly. That’s when my friend made a risky

comment.

“Didn’t I warn you not to fall in love with him?” she said.

My eyes widened as I turned to Jasmine. I quickly defended myself, saying, “Hey! That’s not true. How can you say that to a married woman?”

“Married?” Max exclaimed. I saw his hand retracting. His eyes widened as he looked at

me before asking loudly, “You’re married!?”
