Chapter 19

Farren’s POV

Since Alaric and I were on the verge of divorcing, I felt the need to establish boundaries. between us. By withholding certain information about my mother and stepfamily, I wanted to remind him not to overstep those boundaries.

However, out of nowhere, Alaric’s face appeared in front of me, and our l*ps locked together.

He firmly held my face with both hands, tilting his head and passionately k*ssing me.

I was left breathless, my head instinctively tilting as I held onto his wrist to steady myself. Alaric nibbled on my l*ps and explored the depths of my mouth with his tongue. Each time he teased my tongue, it was like a delightful flood of sweetness.

There was a mix of intense pain and pleasure coursing through me simultaneously. I could feel the heat radiating from my lower abdomen, causing my b*dy temperature to rise. A soft moan escaped from deep within my throat.

“Mmm…”

He k*ssed me with an insatiable hunger, showing no signs of stopping. He devoured every drop of saliva in my mouth, tilting his head and delving even deeper.

I struggled to catch my breath, feeling suffocated at that moment. With all my strength, I pushed him away by gripping his wrist tightly. Taking a quick gasp of air, I tried to regain my composure.

My heart was pounding

rapidly that I couldn’t gather myself together.

When I raised my head, I gazed into his intense eyes and then shifted my attention to the red l*pstick on his l*ps. It was my l*pstick, and I suddenly realized how se xy it looked when smudged on a man’s l*ps.

“Now, it’s better,” he said.

Confused and breathless, I furrowed my brow, trying to make sense of what had just occurred.

My mouth moved soundlessly before I finally managed to speak. “Why did you k*ss me?”

Alaric turned his head to the side and wiped off the l*pstick from his l*ps.

Silence ensued while I waited for him to give me a da mn response.

“I’ll think about that later,” he casually mentioned as he exited the car.

I was left sitting there, feeling a mix of confusion and uncertainty about his true intentions.

I mean, let’s be real; he’s never been the biggest fan of mine.

My husband has made it abundantly clear in the past that he has no interest in fulfilling his marital duties.

So why on earth did he k*ss me?

Was he angry?

Maybe he was just trying to silence me?

Or perhaps he was annoyed that I had set boundaries and told him to stay out of my life?

Whatever the reason, I couldn’t shake off these thoughts as I made my way into my father’s house.

I knew I had to be on guard and cautious because my father, his new wife, and their daughter despised me.

They were always up to something when I least expected it. But at that moment, I felt completely defenseless, like a soldier going into battle without any weapons or armor.

And there was Alaric, standing right beside me as if nothing had happened.

I turned my head to the side and glanced at Alaric.

He stood tall and unaffected by the curious gazes around us.

“Am I the only one still reeling from that k*ss?” I wondered to myself.

Suddenly, a voice interrupted my thoughts, pulling me back to reality.

I looked to my left and saw a middle-aged man I had never met before.

“Good evening. Are you Mr, James’ daughter?” he asked.

“Hello, I’m Mr. Han. I’ve heard that his eldest daughter is quite a beauty, and it seems to be true,” he introduced himself.

Thankfully, this guy’s presence shifted my focus away from Alaric. It was at that moment that I realized there were fewer people at my dad’s party than I remembered

from my childhood.

I heard that his business hasn’t been doing so great lately. That’s why he came to me, asking for an inheritance.

As if I would give him a single cent.

I smiled at Mr. Han and introduced myself again, “Hey there. I’m Farren Ford. And I’m definitely not James’ daughter.”

I never really saw her as my father, so I don’t want to come across as his child.

“My grandfather removed Mr. James Daughtler from our family records. That means James and I are no longer related,” I added.

Mr. Han’s face wrinkled as if he didn’t expect me to speak like that. Then his gaze shifted to Alaric.

I continued, attempting to introduce my husband, “This is my husband, Alar…”

“Call me Al,” Alaric interrupted, introducing himself.

“Al?” Mr. Han questioned.

“Yeah, that’s me. Farren’s husband.” Alaric replied.

With a puzzled expression, I couldn’t help but wonder why Alaric didn’t disclose his full name. Wasn’t he always proud of his name and status?

Furthermore, he mentioned that he came here to clear up some scandal surrounding

him.

Although people here may not recognize his face, they might be familiar with his name if they’re in the business industry.

As I contemplated this, an unpleasant woman made her grand entrance.

“Well, well, well, look who decided to show up,” my stepsister, Katrine sneered. “I never thought a despicable person like you would actually come.”

And so it began. The chaotic reunion between my stepfamily and me had officially commenced.

“Farren, I must say, I overestimated your intelligence. Clearly, I was mistaken,” Katrine sneered. “You’re well aware that you’re not welcome in this family, so why on earth did. you still have the audacity to show up here? Aren’t you ashamed?”

She said this as if I would be envious that my father had started a new family with

another woman, leaving me behind. But honestly, I couldn’t care less.

“I came here for a specific reason. Don’t get it twisted,” I retorted.

Katrine nodded, her gaze shifting towards Alaric. “Oh, is this your husband?” she asked mockingly.

Before I could respond, Katrine continued with her insults.

“Your husband is quite attractive. Seeing him, I can understand why you would settle for someone like him. But aren’t you ashamed to bring a nob*dy into this family?”
