"Alright," Garland said with a dramatic sigh. "Debra and Marion left the Lowe Mansion safely. They brought a whole entourage of a hundred or so people. The scene must've been wild. Too bad I wasn't there to score an exclusive scoop." Stuck there, he had to pose as Fermin. That was a waste of his talent and ruined his chance of becoming one of the top journalists on the international stage.

"By the way," Garland added with a grin, his tone growing nosy, "Debra's your ex, right? Why are you so caught up in her business? Shouldn't you be focusing on your current wife instead?"

He scooted closer to Juan, practically vibrating with curiosity. "So, what is Shelia like? Is she gorgeous? I heard Debra was the top socialite in Seamar City. If Shelia managed to snag you in an affair, she must be even hotter, right?"

Juan grabbed a piece of bread from his plate and shoved it into Garland's mouth. "If you can't talk like a decent human being, do me all a favor and keep your mouth shut."

Garland pulled the bread out, looking wounded. "But I'm a journalist. Gossiping is my lifeblood, and you're basically asking me to stop breathing here."

His complaints then trailed off as Juan picked up a baseball bat leaning against the wall. "Uh, no need for drastic measures. I'll just talk less."

Juan hissed, "Focus on your books. I'm heading out."

"Where are you going?"

"Don't ask questions you don't need answers to."

"Hey, you're seriously leaving?" Garland called after him, peeking out of the door.

When he confirmed Juan was gone, he giggled with pleasure, "Perfect. Now I don't have to study anymore."

Humming a cheerful tune, he

plopped himself in front of his

computer, his fingers flying over the keyboard. "Let's see what Shefia and

Debra look like. If Marion is into her, she must be a knockout."

Munching on the bread, he began searching. The first result on Shelia's profile popped up with a photo attached.

He was dumbfounded. "Huh? Juan's taste in women is something else."

Shelia wasn't so special. She was just a sweet, girl-next-door type, with modest charm at best.

Then he pulled up Debra's profile and froze. He zoomed in and out on her face, his mind racing.

"Wait a second. Her?"

Memories of his brief encounter with Debra in Seamar City flooded back. She'd stormed into his office, smashed his phone, and left him utterly dumbfounded. She hadn't even properly introduced herself at the time, so he never connected the dots.

Now he realized this was the same woman Juan seemed unable to stop thinking about. Garland clicked his tongue. "The world really is tiny. You run into the wildest coincidences."

He whipped out his phone and started
