Marion's men tied up Lara and brought her before Debra. "Stay still."

Lara fidgeted and lowered her head.

Debra demanded, "I kept my promise to you. What about you? Did you already give the phone to Drake?"

"I'm sorry," Lara stammered. "That phone was useless to you. I had to give it to Drake to gain his trust."

"What do you mean?"

"After I got off the ship, I checked the phone. There was nothing on it. A useless phone couldn't incriminate Drake. I had to get back to his side." "So, you sacrificed me to gain his trust?"

She could understand Lara selling her out to survive, but she couldn't forgive the repeated deception.

If it had helped bring down Drake or provided evidence against him, it might have been worth it. But there was nothing. All their efforts had been in vain.

"I'm truly sorry. I had to stay by Drake's side, gain his trust, and replace evidence against him."

"And did you succeed?"

"I..."

"You've been with Drake for a long time. Does he trust you? Or have you gotten close to the core of his business?"

"I..."

"You're just his maid, living with hatred. You never truly planned to take him down. All these years, you've failed to gain his trust and only pushed me into the fire." Debra's words cut deep, and Lara turned pale.

For years, she had thought of nothing but revenge, but her abilities were limited.

She told herself that each passing day brought her closer to Drake's trust and that one day she would reach the core of his business.

She even hoped that after Yvonne's death, Drake would use her to control Conrad. But Drake had abandoned both her and the Sharp family.

When Drake came overseas to ally with the Eaton family, she hadē almost lost hope. It was only when Debra appeared that she thought she could finally fulfill her purpose. But even that had failed.

"Do whatever you want with me," Lara said, resigned to her fate.

Marion asked Debra, "What do you think, honey?"

His voice sent a shiver down Lara's spine.

Debra said, "If you've got useful information about Drake's business, I might consider sparing you. If not, I'll send you back. I'm sure he will be very curious about what happened to you."

"No, please don't send me back," Lara pleaded.

She might survive here since Debra wasn't a ruthless person. Drake was different. He would suspect her of conspiring with Debra and Marion. He might kill her for it.

"As you said, I've been by Drake's

side for years, but he's always

treated me like a servant. I've barely even been in his study, let alone had access to any of his secrets. She paused, biting her lip.
