Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) -
Chapter 642
Jared looked at Agnes, her complexion was off.
Deep down, Jared had a hunch about what was going on.
That lad wasn't in any relationship with Agnes. They had entered the elevator but didn't go up.
Instead, they went to the underground parking lot. They were there for a mere ten minutes.
Then, that lad drove off, leaving Agnes behind.
But when Agnes came back, she looked like she had lost her spirit.
Jared frowned, "What happened?"
"Jared, I don't have the energy to talk. Can you please leave? I need some rest, I don't want to see you right now." Agnes' voice was almost pleading.
Jared, however, stood firm, his aura somber, and didn't budge.
Agnes knew he wouldn't leave, but she didn't have the energy to confront him.
She grabbed a pillow and blanket from the bed and moved to the guest bedroom.
Jared walked to the door, only to hear a loud bang.
Agnes had shut the door on him.
Jared was filled with a mix of emotions.
He had never been disregarded like this before.
Despite being constantly asked to leave by Agnes, he just wanted to stay under the same roof with her.
Agnes lay on the bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Her mind was filled with a whirlwind of thoughts.
Having not eaten the whole day, her stomach was burning, causing her intense discomfort.
Agnes knew Jared hadn't left, because his car was still parked outside the villa.
Living under the same roof with Jared after four years, Agnes felt a pang of sadness.
She could still remember the happiness they once shared.
Now, all that was left were estrangement, arguments, and mutual hurt.
Soon, there was a knock on the door. It could only be Jared.
Agnes buried herself under the blanket, trying to ignore the sound.
She didn't have the energy to deal with Jared.
But the steady rhythm of the knocking reminded her of Jared's icy calm face.
Annoyed by the knocking, Agnes leaped out of bed.
Barefoot, she ran to the door and flung it open, almost roaring, "Jared, have you had enough?!"
But as she spoke, Agnes froze.
Jared was standing at the door with a bowl of noodle soup.
Surprised, Agnes was at a loss for words.
Jared, as cold as ever, remained calm.
He didn't react to Agnes' outburst, just said, "I noticed you haven't eaten all day. Have this soup and get some rest," Jared said softly, handing her the bowl. Agnes stood there, stunned, she didn't take the bowl.
Jared simply walked in and placed the bowl on the table next to the sofa.
He returned to Agnes, "I'm leaving, you..."
Jared seemed to have something else to say, but he never said it.
He turned and left.
Soon after, Agnes heard the engine start.
Jared had finally left the villa.
Agnes sat on the sofa, staring at the steaming bowl of noodle soup on the table.
Suddenly, tears started streaming down her face.
