Berlin lit another cigarette, "All this trouble is because of you, Laura. I thought I had found a gem when I married you, but you turned out to be my bad luck charm." "Berlin, you need to face the facts. How many times have I saved you in the Thomas family? Without me, do you think you would have achieved anything in your career?"

Berlin retorted furiously, "Laura, everyone in the Capital knows that you've been unfaithful. I am done being the laughing stock. I want a divorce."

"If you want a divorce, fine, but don't expect me to leave with nothing."

"Laura, all this talk, and it all comes down to my wealth."

"Berlin, our time has come to an end. I won't claim anything that's rightfully yours, but the two antique shops that I've built these past years are my life's work. Give me those, and I won't ask for anything else." Berlin laughed coldly, "Do you think I don't know the antique shops are the most profitable businesses in the last two years? You want to keep them all to yourself, dream on."

"Laura, I don't want to argue with you, but don't forget we still have a common enemy. That girl is Jared's ex-wife, and it's clear he still has feelings for her. And now she's Ryder's fiancée. What if she uses the power of the Whitfield and Thomas families against you? You think you can handle it on your own? Besides, we're in this together, Berlin. If I fall, I might just spill all our secrets. Remember, it was you who had Vernon mess with Preston's car. If this comes to light, I'll be accused of instigation at most. You're the one guilty of intentional murder."

"Laura, you're a wicked woman."

Laura, tapping her manicured nails, replied, "Berlin, you need to give me something to hold onto. Otherwise, how can I stand against that girl?"

Much to her surprise, Agnes found out that Laura and Berlin were getting a peaceful divorce.

And Laura was to be the owner of the two antique shops under the Thomas family name.

Agnes didn't know what Laura and Berlin had discussed, but she had to admit, Laura was a force to be reckoned with.

Agnes thought Berlin's anger would at least leave Laura penniless, but she underestimated Laura.

Agnes was left with a bitter taste in her mouth.

As she and Ryder left, Laura called out to her, "Agnes, why don't you stop by my antique shop tomorrow? If you see something you like, consider it a gift from me." Agnes managed a smile, "Thank you, Laura. I'll make sure to come."

Suddenly, Laura grabbed Agnes' arm, leaning in to whisper, "Agnes, you don't stand a chance against me."

Laura let go and stepped back, saying, "Take care on your way."

Agnes clenched her fist. How could this wicked woman escape karma?

Agnes had failed to strike her down, and now Laura was on high alert. It would be hard to catch her off guard again.

Ryder took Agnes' clenched fist in his own, "I'll accompany you tomorrow, Agnes."
