Laura paused, then smiled, "You're always welcome."

At that moment, Jared was standing not far behind them.

He had a hunch that everything happening within the Thomas family had something to do with Agnes.

This woman seemed to have returned to the country specifically for the Thomas family.

There appeared to be some secret that Ryder was privy to, but he was in the dark.

Ryder's car pulled out of the Thomas Mansion driveway.

"Why take the risk if Laura is suspicious? You agreed to see her tomorrow, that's like walking into the lion's den. After today's events, she won't easily let you off the hook," Ryder questioned.

Agnes, gazing at the scenery passing by the car window, replied, "There are some things that I must confront her in person, so I have to go."

Ryder fell silent.

Agnes turned her head towards him, "If you knew it would be like walking into a trap, why would you accompany me?"

Ryder responded with a faint smile, "How could I let you take that risk alone?"

The next day, Ryder arrived at Eden Nights early to pick her up.

After breakfast, they headed straight for the antique shop.

This antique shop was considered one of the largest in the capital.

Upon entering, it felt like a giant museum.

A secretary waited at the entrance.

Upon seeing Agnes and Ryder, she approached, "Ms. Pritchard, Mr. Whitfield, please follow me."

The secretary led Agnes and Ryder onto the elevator.

Exiting the elevator, they walked through a long corridor to Laura's office.

The corridor was lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, revealing various office spaces.

It was clear that Laura was running more than just an antique shop; she was managing a vast antique industry chain.

The secretary stopped and turned to Ryder, "Our boss has a few private words for Ms. Pritchard. Mr. Whitfield, please wait in the lounge."

Ryder's voice was frosty, "No, I must be with her at all times."

Agnes smiled at Ryder, "Don't worry, she knows you're with me today. She won't do anything. She wouldn't be so foolish as to make a move on me today."

Ryder was silent for a moment, then headed to the lounge, "If anything happens, I'm right outside."

Agnes nodded.

The secretary opened the door, and Agnes stepped inside.

Laura was on the sofa brewing tea.

The scent of tea was soothing.

Seeing Agnes enter, Laura began, "My dream has always been to run an antique shop. I often persuaded your father to invest in the antique market, but he always thought I lacked vision. He preferred to put al his money into the stock market rather than fulfill my small wish. However, in less than four years, I have made my antique shop the biggest antique shop in the capital. I plan to expand, open more branches, go public. I want everyone to know my name, to know my antique shop."

"Laura, your ambition is immense. So, not even my father, or the Starlight International Group could satisfy you. You desired to climb into the Thomas family to fulfill your ambitions, didn't you?"

Agnes didn't bother beating around the bush, she went straight to the point.

Laura chuckled, "Have a cup of tea first, and we'll chat slowly."
