The man was dressed in a white robe, and he had long and messy hair.

His beard was all over the place, making him look disheveled.

“I knew you would be home! Come over! This lady here is looking for you."’ Elated, Nigel quickly wavedat Joel.

As the rumors claimed. Joel had a grim expression on. and he looked uncongenial. With heavyfootsteps, he made liis way toward Angeline and Nigel. “Yes? Wliat do you need me for?"

Joel looked at Angeline indifferently and without a trace of surprise in liis eyes. It was as if he was usedto getting interrupted by people.

He wasn't fazed by Angeline's appearance.

Angeline was still sizing him up when he arrived in front of her.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Quinn. I've heard a lot about you. You're truly a genius of a designer—"

“I stopped being a designer a while ago," Joel interrupted in an annoyed tone. “Didn't you hear aboutthat?”

Angeline kept quiet for a moment before letting out a chuckle while looking at Joel. “I know what youmean. Mr. Quinn. However, if you have really given up being a designer, you wouldn't keep so many

fabrics at home, would you?"

The fabrics were freshly dyed, and they were all exquisite.

I thought Joel was only good at designing. Not only can he design, but he can also dye fabrics. He'struly a genius! Now, I know Nancy was serious about what she said to me.

A scowl appeared on Joel's face, and he had fury in his eyes. “I didn't expect a sharp tongue from aperson as young as you. You aren't here to ask for a favor, are you? It seems that you're here to mockme."

“You're overthinking, Mr. Quinn." Angeline flashed a faint smile. “I came a long way to look for you. andI even fell into a cellar and spent an entire night there. I've gone through hoops to have a conversationwith you."

Joel was slightly taken aback by those words. He looked at Nigel dubiously.

Nigel didn't waste a second to butter Angeline up. “She's telling the truth. This lady has gone throughhardships to see you. If not for me, she would have still been stuck underground. Perhaps you shouldhear her out."

Joel's expression softened a little. In a less hostile tone, he asked. “So? Wliat do you want to say tome?"

Seeing that Joel was willing to hear her out, Angeline was overjoyed. “Mr. Quinn. I'm a friend of Nancy.Nancy Yandell. She introduced you to me. Do you still remember her?"

“Nancy?" Joel furrowed liis brows. “I do, but we haven't contacted each other for a long time."

“I know, but Nancy and everyone else in school remember you as a genius designer. You're veryfamous." Upon buttering Joel up and seeing that he wasn't offended. Angeline took a deep breath. “I

have a simple reason for coming to look for you. I started a fashion design company, and now I need acreative designer. If you're willing to help, the salary can be—”

Right away. Joel knew what Angeline wanted. He unhesitatingly cut her off by asking, “Are you invitingme to join your company?"

“Yes." Angeline shot him a sincere look. “Mr. Quinn, although we don't know each other, I believe wecan have a fruitful collaboration.”

“Ms. Sorelle, don't you realize how silly you look?" Joel folded liis arms and looked at Angelinemockingly. “I've had all sorts of people coming to me, and I've turned each and every one of them downregardless of how much they offered me."

Angeline remained silent.

“Also, you've never studied my designs, have you? How dare you act so haughtily? Why should I trustyou?” Joel added.

His words were so harsh that Angeline froze and couldn't replace the words to reply.

She merely looked at Joel's pair of shaip eyes and liis disheveled appearance.

At that moment, Angeline was utterly impressed, and her desire to recruit him intensified. I have astrong feeling that if I can get Joel to join my company, he's going to surprise me even more.

She gritted her teeth and promised, “Mr. Quinn, I admit that I've acted rashly by coming to see you.However, I really want to invite you to join my company, and I can double the salary."

Unfortunately for her, Joel didn't seem tempted. Instead, his eyes were filled with disdain, and he wasready to end the conversation there and then. “Ms. Sorelle, thank you for traveling all the way here to

see me, but I don't think we're on the same page. See you."

With that, he turned around and walked toward the hut.

Angeline pursed her lips as she watched him leave. Although I've just been rejected. I don't regret it atall. The rumors are tine. Joel has a unique character, and liis confidence in the fashion design industryis genuine. He's truly amazing!

“Ms. Sorelle..." Nigel froze on the spot, and he felt rather embarrassed. “As I've told you, Joel is a loner.Especially after his elder sister passed away, he's been isolating himself. He's not someone easy todeal with."

“I'm not blaming you." Angeline frowned. “Did you say liis elder sister? Wliat happened? How did shedie at such a young age?”

Nigel let out a heavy sigh before pulling Angeline to the side. “It was a tragedy. She was a nice lady,but for some reason, she crashed her car against the railing by the sea late one night and died beforethe authorities could get to her."

Angeline listened attentively. A hint of confusion flashed across her eyes as she asked. “How didsomething like that happen?"

“We found it weird as well. When she was alive, she seldom mixed around with people she didn't know;We couldn't help but think foul play was involved in her death." Nigel shook liis head helplessly.“However, none of us dared to speak of it. It's such a shame, though. Joel never recovered from thattragedy."

Angeline was also weirded out. It seems that Joel's sister's death wasn't just an accident. Why wouldshe crash into the sea? It's simply unbelievable.
