Chapter 725: Knowing Someone's Face but Not Their Heart
Zane nodded and whispered, "When you come over, bring Yanis' clothes with you."
Yanis responded, "Okay. Do you need clothes too?"
"Albi will bring them over later. You can go keep Yanis company for a while," Zane replied.
"Zane, Ivan and the others are in the police station now. What Yanis needs most right now is you, not me," Bonnie said in a low voice.
Zane was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Then bring Yanis' clothes over first."
"Okay."
Bonnie hung up the phone and turned around to leave when she saw Libby rushing in from outside.
"How is it? How's Yanis?" Libby walked up to Bonnie and asked about Yanis' condition.
Earlier Albi had taken Fukuma to the hospital, but he was a man, so Libby went with them. Fukuma's condition was beyond saving. Before they took her into surgery room, Libby asked the hospital to contact Fukuma's family. Then she rushed back here afterwards.
"She's at the hospital now. I'm going to see her," Bonnie replied.
"What happened exactly?" Although Libby had seen some discussions about it in their group chat, everyone seemed to have different versions of what happened so she was confused as well.
As they walked out together Bonnie explained briefly what had happened and Libby was shocked by it all. "I never thought Ahmed would be such an audacious bastard!"
"He has been taken to the police station now. They will handle everything from here on out," Bonnie said before turning towards Libby again and asking about Fukuma's situation instead,
"The child couldn't be saved for sure. I asked someone from the hospital to contact her family, but after that, everything is up to Fukuma herself."
"It's unfortunate for Fukuma but everyone has their own fate. If only she could have seen through Ahmed earlier then maybe she wouldn't have gotten herself into this mess." As they continued walking outside together, Libby spoke with sympathy towards Fukuma while also reflecting on how Ahmed managed deceive them all despite his previous reputation as a gentleman,
"I never expected him do something like this during broad daylight. It really destroys your faith in humanity."
"So that?? s why we say that we know someone just by their appearance. Some people may look well-dressed and put together on the surface, but who knows what kind of things they do behind closed doors. Ahmed's reputation and character among his friends are still decent, but I never expected there to be another side to him."
Although Libby only knew Ahmed on a surface level, she couldn't help but admire his social skills. Most of the people at the party were invited by Ahmed.
But who would have thought that Ahmed was capable of such things?
"I'll go with you. My friend will come and drive my car for me since she's nearby running errands," Libby whispered to Bonnie as they walked towards the parking lot. "I also want to see Yanis." Bonnie nodded. "What about your car keys?"
"I'll leave them under my tire like I usually do," Libby said before walking over to her car and placing her keys under the tire before turning back towards Bonnie. "Let's go."
As soon as Bonnie got into the car, Myles called.
"Sorry, let me take this call first," Bonnie said while waving at Libby before answering Myles' call.
"Bonnie, are you okay? Are you hurt?" Myles' voice sounded urgent through the phone.
"I'm fine; it's Yanis who got hurt. Don't worry about me," Bonnie reassured him.
"Are you sure everything is okay?"
"Yes, everything is fine; Yanis was targeted specifically, so it wasn't aimed at me. I'm going over there now with some stuff for her. I'll talk to you later." After a few more words from Myles in concern, he hung up.
After she ended her call with Myles and got into the car herself, Libby asked quietly: "Boyfriend?"
Bonnie nodded in response: "Yes... He probably heard about what happened here and got worried." Libby commented: "He seems really concerned about your safety."
Bonnie smiled slightly: "That's just how he is - he gets nervous over small things like this sometimes."
"I heard from my brother that you and Myles have been childhood sweethearts and have a great relationship," Libby said softly.
Bonnie listened to Libby's words and chuckled, "Yeah, we're good together. But I do have a bit of a temper, and he's very patient."
"That's great. One is quick-tempered while the other is stable. It complements each other well," Libby nodded.
"Yeah, that's true," Bonnie agreed.
"Let's go then."
Bonnie started the car, "I'll stop by Yanis' place first to pick up some things before heading over to the hospital."
"Okay."
Bonnie had originally planned to go to Yanis?? workplace to get some clothes for her first, then she but realized that since Yanis moved back into D-king Castle, she hadn't been living at her studio anymore, so there wouldn't be any clothes for her there. She decided to drive straight over to D-king Castle instead.
"I'll just be a minute. Wait here in the car for me." Bonnie instructed as she parked in front of D-king Castle.
Libby nodded, "Sure. Take your time."
When Bonnie entered the house, a maid greeted her at the door and led her upstairs after hearing what she was there for.
"The master bedroom is right here, Miss Cooke. You can go on in." The maid said.
Bonnie responded with thanks.
This was only Bonnie?? s third or fourth time visiting D-King Castle, but it was still impressive every time she saw it again - Zane really did live like royalty!
After replaceing Yanis some comfortable clothes and toiletries, Bonnie left with everything ready. With Libby, she headed towards the hospital. Fukuma was also staying in the same hospital, and their rooms were next to each other.
When they arrived, Zane received a call and left the ward.
"How did it go? What did the doctor say?" Bonnie asked Yanis concernedly,
"It?? s nothing serious. I might need observation in case anything happens, but otherwise should be able leave soon enough." Yanis replied softly,
"That?? s good news! That jerk deserves more than just a few kicks!"
