Chapter 919: I Can't Find Her

As they were getting closer to the front of the line, Yanis moved back a few people and let a few more people go ahead.

Yanis thought Bonnie couldn't stop choosing items, so she waited in the same spot for five to six minutes. However, Bonnie still didn't show up. Unable to replace Bonnie, Yanis left the purchased items by the shelf and turned around to look for her.

Yanis walked around several shelves in the snack section but couldn't spot Bonnie anywhere.

The supermarket was packed with people at this time, and it seemed impossible to replace a familiar figure in the crowd.

"Excuse me, have you seen a pregnant woman wearing a black dress?" Yanis asked a woman who was selecting snacks on the shelf.

The woman looked up and replied, "There was no one here when I came."

Yanis's expression changed slightly upon hearing this and thanked the woman before approaching a store assistant standing by the shelves. However, no one had seen Bonnie. Yanis searched almost every area of the vast supermarket but couldn't replace Bonnie's whereabouts.

In the end, Yanis had no choice but to call Zane.

After a few rings, Zane answered the phone.

Without waiting for Zane to speak, Yanis immediately said, "Zane, Bonnie and I were shopping at the supermarket, but I can't replace her now."

Upon hearing Yanis's voice, Zane replied in a low voice, "Which supermarket are you in? Give me the location, I'll come over."

Zane stood up while speaking, exchanging a glance with Iris, then walked towards the exit.

Seeing Zane leaving, Iris also stood up and followed him out of the office.

Zane comforted Yanis softly and after reassuring her, he turned to Iris. "You go back to work. I'll go and check on Yanis."

After hearing Zane's words, Iris asked, "Can I help with anything?"

Zane replied, "Not for now. I'll let you know if I need anything."

Iris nodded. "Then call me if anything comes up."

Zane acknowledged and stepped into the elevator as it opened.

Iris stood at the elevator entrance, watching Zane enter before turning back to the office.

After leaving Duncan Group, Zane immediately called Haider.

It took a second attempt before Haider answered the call.

Zane went straight to the point, "Bonnie and Yanis went shopping at the supermarket, but they can't replace Bonnie now." Haider, who was also busy, raised his voice upon hearing Zane's words. "What do you mean they can't replace her?"

Zane briskly walked toward his parked car while talking to Haider. "I saw Mia at the company today."

Haider paused for a moment upon hearing Zane's words, then quickly reacted. "Why would Mia go to your company?" Zane briefly explained the situation to Haider.

After hearing Zane's account, Haider said in a deep voice, "I understand. I'll come over now."

Zane acknowledged, "Let's meet at the supermarket later."

After hanging up the phone, Zane walked a few steps and got into his car. After starting the engine, he called Yanis. Yanis picked up the call immediately. "Zane?"

"Have you still not found her? Did you ask the supermarket staff to check the surveillance footage?" Zane asked. Yanis's voice was trembling as she replied, "They didn't allow me to see it."

Upon hearing this, Zane's brow furrowed. "Wait for me there. I'll be there soon."

Yanis responded with an "Okay."

After ending the call, Yanis searched the supermarket again, but there was still no sign of Bonnie.

The longer Bonnie was missing, the more anxious Yanis became.

Zane arrived relatively quickly. Less than half an hour after the previous phone call, he appeared in front of Yanis.

"Yanis," Zane called out softly when he entered the supermarket.

Yanis turned toward Zane's voice and saw him approaching. Without hesitation, Zane naturally embraced her in his arms. "Don't worry."

As he spoke, Zane gently patted Yanis's back with his hand. "Let me take you to see the surveillance footage."

Yanis nodded and followed Zane toward the supermarket's surveillance room.

The security guard sitting inside wore a displeased expression when he saw Yanis. "I told you earlier, without permission from above, we can't casually view the surveillance footage."

"If that's the case, call your superiors or we'll call the police to assist us," Zane's cold voice sounded as he spoke to the security guard.

Only now did the security guard notice the man standing beside Yanis.

When the security guard met Zane's chilly gaze, his expression changed slightly. "You... wait a moment."

The security guard realized that Zane was not someone to be trifled with, so he didn't treat Yanis as rudely as before. Instead, he quickly made a phone call.

After dialing the number, the security guard didn't even have a chance to speak before someone reached out from behind and took the phone from him.

Zane held the phone and pressed the speaker button. "This is Zane. I would like to view the surveillance footage of your supermarket. If it's inconvenient, we can involve the police to assist us." The voice of the supermarket owner came through the phone. "Oh, it's Mr. Lawrence. You can directly view the surveillance. Is there something wrong? If you need anything, we can cooperate." Zane replied in a calm voice, "No need. Have your staff check the surveillance to replace someone."

"Alright, I'll let him handle it," the supermarket owner said.

"Zhang, I heard that. Show Mr. Lawrence the surveillance," the security guard said from the side.

The supermarket owner's voice came through the phone, "Hurry up!"

After the supermarket owner spoke, Zane handed the phone back to the security guard and turned to Yanis. "We'll see the footage."

Yanis acknowledged and followed Zane toward the supermarket's surveillance room.

As they sat inside, the security guard started to play the surveillance footage for today. Yanis leaned forward, her eyes fixed on Bonnie's figure on the screen.

However, the footage abruptly cut off just as it reached the other side of the snack aisle.
