Luca’s POV

I couldn’t describe the feelings in my chest. Melody was my mate! Now I know why I never liked seeing other males around her. She was mine. ‘Ours’ Remus said. ‘Ours’ I agreed. He was enjoying his first time running, and we were chasing our mate. She is fast, but Remus is pretty fast too. He closed the distance a bit more and playfully nipped at her back legs. She glazed back and I saw a glint in her eye. She jumped and launched herself off a thick tree trunk to change the direction she was running in, splitting off from the rest of the pack.

Remus and I planted our paws into the ground and turned as fast as we could. With this being my first time with my wolf form, I was pretty clumsy at this. ‘Don’t worry Luca. With time you and I will be more in sync with each other. No matter what form we are in.’ Remus said comfortally. We began to gain on Melody again. Just as we closed the gap and was about to catch her, she did a little roll out of my way. I tried to stop, but at the speed I was going… I slid right off the edge of the river bank and into the water.

I heard a huffing sound coming from Melody. ‘Is she laughing at us?’ Remus chuckled a bit to himself as well. ‘Well us falling into the river was kind of funny.’ I will admit that, but if I was going to be wet then so was Melody. I went back under the water and watched the surface from below. I saw her beautiful white coat as she neared the river side. I pounced out of the water and gently grabbed the scruff of her neck with my jaw and pulled her into the water.

*SPLASH* We both were now in the river. She stands and growls at me. I growl back in a playful banter. She shakes her whole body getting rid of the excess water, and whips me in the snout with her wet tail. ‘Oww, okay that hurt a bit.’ I thought as I wiggled my nose. I turned back to her and she was back on the river bank, drinking some water. I got out of the river and shook myself off before I returned back to her side.

I wish we could speak to each other, but that won’t happen until she joins my pack or if I was to mark her and mate with her tonight. I sat down near her. She was beautiful in both wolf and human form. The moonlight and water made her fur glow and sparkle like freshly fallen snow. She must have felt my eyes on her because she turned to face me. She moved closer to me and nuzzled up for me. I nuzzled my head on hers and licked the side of her muzzle. I could feel her wolf purring at my touch as we sat there cuddling close by the river side.

After a little bit, Melody shot up and began to look around. She seemed agitated. A snap was heard from behind us, and I jumped up as well. Coming out of the shadows about ten wolves came from out of the shadows. Their eyes were a b***d red color, a trait only rogues had. s**t.

Melody’s POV

Artemis and I were enjoying spending some alone time with Luca and his wolf down by the river. ‘As much as I enjoy this alone with our mate, we need to get back with the rest of the pack.’ Artemis said. I mentally sighed. ‘I know.’ I said. It was not uncommon for a few rogues to pop up in our territory during the full moon, but they never caused any problems to us since we ran in the pack.

Even though rogues are no problem for us, Luca still needs time to get used to his wolf form. I don’t wanna risk him getting hurt because of his inexperience. Artemis’s ear twitched and we shot up from our spot. I could feel Luca looking at us. Ten rogues came out from the tree line. ‘We can handle them.’ Artemis said. I could tell she was right. They may have had numbers on us, but they didn’t seem anywhere near our level of strength, but I worried for Luca. ‘That maybe true Artemis, if we were alone. Luca and his wolf are not in sync with one another like we are. They could get hurt.’ Artemis growled.

‘Let’s play it smart. Besides, you know that some wolves never got a choice about becoming rogue or not.’ I reminded her. She huffed. ‘I hate it when you are right. So what do you want to do?’ She asked. I thought quickly. ‘Show are domonice. If they respect us then we can reason with them.’ I said. Artemis let out a dominating growl, releasing our alpha arua.

Seven out of the ten wolves whimpered and bowed their heads. The three that didn’t growled and snarled, not only at us, but at the ones showing respect. I tried to connect with one of my brothers. ‘EJ, TJ, can anyone hear me?’ I asked. ‘Mel?! What is it?’ TJ’s voice rang through my mind. I breathed in relief. ‘There are rogues by the river. I don’t want to risk Luca getting hurt because he doesn’t have wolf battle experience.’ I say quickly.

Just as I finish my thought I see a rogue lunge toward us. I swipe at them and knock it to the ground. The ones that bowed to me stepped away and stood near Luca. I growl and hunch down. The other two attack at the same time. Artemis lunged forward smacking one with her paw and gripping the other by its front leg and shook her head. I hear the sickening sound of the bone snapping. I knew she broke its leg clean. Artemis may do what is needed and kill a wolf when necessary, but she is just as compassionate as I am. We want to give all creatures a chance to do what is right.

Then we felt the burning sensation of claws in our back. We turned to see the first wolf we knocked to the ground had jumped on our back and was sinking its claws in deep. Artemis growled and rolled. Knocking it off. We then go into a tangled wolf fight biting and scratching each other. Artemis snapped her jaws at it as it snarled and aimed for my neck. Artemis used our back legs to push the rogue back enough to make his bit just shy of our neck.

Then she clamped her jaw down around his neck like a vise. The metallic smell and taste of b***d filled our mouth and nose. She jerked to the right and snapped his neck. We felt the life drain from his body. She dropped his body and looked towards the other two wolves. They were still snarling and growling at her. We peeked behind us and saw that Luca was standing frozen, as well as the other rogues that submitted to her. A loud growl snapped our attention back to the two that wanted a fight.

Both of them were coming at us at the same time. They were so far apart that we had to pick which one to fight and which one to worry about later. Before they could reach us… a blast of fire had hit one wolf and a blast of lighting had hit the other. Artemis perked up and turned her head to the other side of the river. Apollo and Thor were running towards us. ‘Our brothers made it.’ I said to Artemis. ‘Of course they did. Our brothers will always have our backs.’ She replied smuggly. I giggled because it was the truth. The three of us were definitely like the three musketeers.

‘Now who said you could have all the fun without us, Sis?’ TJ huffed. ‘No one gets to mess with you except for us.’ EJ said. Artemis and I rolled our eyes to each other. ‘If you want your turn to fight me, wait until later. But you can have these other two here.’ I said and moved to be in front of Luca and the other rogues. Apollo and Thor jumped the river, clearing it with ease, and stood between me and the two rogues set of fighting to the death. ‘What about those by Luca?’ EJ asked. ‘They submitted to me, so we will take them back to the pack house after we are done here.’ I spoke. My brothers nodded and turned to finish when these rogues started.
