Love at the Door
Chapter 48

Chapter 48

“How is a ten–day relationship going to compare with a decade–long relationship? Linda mentioned that she was practically the Lady of Oakread. Louis and his friends also said that Andrew and Linda are the one true pair.

“I’m just a nobody from the mountains,” Melina thought.

If Andrew liked Linda, Melina decided that she could go to Mr. Wentworth Senior to ask for a divorce so the both of them could be

together.

However, Andrew mentioned yesterday that he wanted to try being a real married couple with her. Why was he still so special to Linda while being so kind to her?

Melina felt like her heart was torn.

She cleaned up the dining table. She placed the dirty dishes in the sink but didn’t wash them and went up to her room in a daze.

Toby couldn’t help but call out to Melina. “Mrs. Wentworth, what are you doing?”

Melina snapped out of her daze and realized that Toby was still there. It was impolite to leave while guests were still around.

Guilt colored her face as she muttered, “I’m sorry, I didn’t sleep well last night so I wanted to take a nap. I’m a little dazed right now.”

“You didn’t sleep well, you said? Looking at your current state, I don’t think you slept at all,” Toby thought.

He wanted to comfort Melina but he didn’t know what to say.

He got up and said, “Rest well, Mrs. Wentworth. I’ll make a move now.”

“Okay, goodbye, Dr. Ludwig.”

Toby upped and left. “Screw this,” he thought. He would let Andrew deal with all of these things himself.

If one wanted a happy life, one would have to stay away from women.

The house was instantly peaceful.

Melina headed to her room, pushed open the door, and as she stared

at the empty room, she was just reminded that she had moved upstairs to Andrew’s room.

She was a little lost when she made her way upstairs.

She lay on the sofa once more.

What had happened replayed in her brain like a movie?

It started with Andrew being there with her on the roller coaster, then it was him saving her in the car accident, and lastly, it was Andrew bringing Linda with him as he left.

Melina couldn’t control her thoughts from running wild. She pulled her blankets to cover her head and fell asleep after a while.

When Andrew came back, the entire room was filled with the scent that could calm him down. He saw Melina curled up on the sofa. She was tiny.

Andrew walked in.

Melina woke up the moment someone entered the room. This was Andrew’s room. Of course, she knew who just came in.

She just didn’t know what to say to Andrew, so her eyes remained closed as she pretended to sleep.

Her eyes were closed but she could still feel Andrew staring at her.

She felt his smoldering gaze er face.

After a few seconds, Melina felt like she couldn’t keep

anymore. “When was he going to stop staring?” she wondered,

Melina opened her eyes to see Andrew staring apathetically at her.

The gaze that landed on her was stojo.

Andrew retracted his gaze. “There’s a private banquet the day after tomorrow. Grandpa told me to bring you.”

Melina blurted, “Huh? But you said we should keep our marriage a secret so that no one would know.”

Andrew’s eyes were filled with mockery and disdain.

This woman tattled to Wallace on one end, wanting Wallace to announce their relationship to the world, whilst on the other end, pretending to be obedient in front of him.

Andrew was suddenly interested in watching how things would unfold.

He said, “It’s just a private banquet. There won’t be too many people there. This is Grandpa’s order.”

“Okay then.” Melina paused. “Do we need formal attire for this event? I don’t have any.”

“I’ll take care of it. Walt for me at Syra Fashion in the afternoon in two days.”

Melina nodded.

Andrew didn’t mention anything about Linda. Molina never asked as

well.
