Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1003: Omnipotence
Seeing that Baggott was worried, Hector spoke up and advised, "Brother-in-law, you have to trust Edgar, he's capable of fixing everything." "He's my son, of course I trust him. It's just that I'm afraid ..."
Baggott sighed heavily and did not go on.
Hector knew what he wanted to say, "All Arlice can do now is wait, he doesn't dare make any other moves."
Baggott nodded, "That's good. I was afraid he might turn on Edgar."
In fact, he was right to be concerned.
Given Arlice's personality, if in the end none of his calculated efforts succeed, he is bound to take the plunge.
When the time comes Edgar will be in danger.
"I'll send someone to protect Edgar." Hector said in a hushed voice.
Baggott looked at him gratefully, "Thank you, Hector. if it wasn't for you, Edgar would be in a much tougher position at the Khan Group."
It is because of the Rogers Group that the directors dare not make things too difficult for Edgar.
"Eloise said there's no need to be so polite as a family."
The words struck a chord with Baggott, "Yes, it's family, it's family."
When Eloise saw that Hector and the others had been out for so long and hadn't returned, she was curious and went out to see what was going on. As soon as she stepped out of the ward, she saw Baggott and Hector coming this way.
"Brother-in-law."
When the man approached, she called out good-naturedly.
"Out looking for Hector, are you?" Baggott joked with a smile.
Eloise smiled embarrassedly, "You can see that, brother-in-law."
"I'll leave you to it then."
Watching Baggott walk into the ward, Eloise withdrew her eyes and asked in a whisper, "What took you so long to talk to your brother-in-law about?"
"What do you say?" Hector asked without answering, a soft look on his face.
Eloise thought for a moment, "It's about talking about my cousin, isn't it?"
Hector nods his head.
"Sure enough that's it." Eloise sighed, "My brother-in-law must be worried when something like that happens. But ..."
She turned her words around and looked at him with a smile, "With you, there's nothing to worry about."
At that, Hector raised an eyebrow, "Why does it feel like you're thinking of me as if I'm Superman and can do anything?"
Eloise took his hand, interlocked her fingers, gazed straight at him with clear eyes, and said in a particularly serious tone, "In my eyes, you are Superman, the most powerful kind."
Hector laughed and brought her into his arms with a firm flick of his wrist.
In fact, what Eloise said was very much like what a child would say, but it really hit home for him.
At the very least, in her mind, he was the superman who could protect her.
...
In the evening, Eloise wanted to stay at the hospital with her mother, but was refused.
"You're not well either, so you don't need to accompany me. Besides, I have a caretaker here, so you don't have to worry."
At her mother's insistence, Eloise dutifully returns to the old Khan family home with Hector.
Edgar hasn't returned yet, he's been out early and back late the last few days and it's killing Brimlad.
"Your cousin really isn't even home when he's this busy." Brimlad said to Eloise as he shook his head and sighed.
Eloise didn't know what to say, and could only reassure, "Auntie, when cousin is done for the time being, he will be home on time."
"I hope so." Brimlad sighed again, and then the conversation turned and said, "It's your second uncle's birthday in a few days, just after he turned fifty, and it was supposed to be a birthday party, but since your grandfather is still in the hospital, they can't afford to make a big deal out of it. So, just let the family have a meal together."
Eloise thought for a moment, "Do I need to go?"
"Aren't you from the Khan family?" Brimlad asked her rhetorically.
Eloise was at a loss for words.
Brimlad knew she didn't want to go, but nevertheless advised, "He's your second uncle anyway, so do him the courtesy of giving him the benefit of the doubt."
Eloise was amused by this, "Fine, I'll go begrudgingly for a while."
Brimlad lost his smile, "Remember to buy gifts."
"Hmm. I know."
Although I don't like my second uncle's family, I still have to have the proper manners.
I just don't know if I'll run into Herrin this time, remembering the last time he harassed me.
Eloise thought about it and the corners of her lips slowly rose; she would have to teach him a lesson this time.
Brimlad saw her alone and giggled at something, "Eloise, what are you thinking?"
Eloise snapped back to her quizzical gaze and said with a quick smile, "Nothing, just thought of something funny."
"So." Brimlad didn't doubt it either, "Tomorrow we'll go to the mall. It's just a family dinner, but we can't dress too casually." Eloise nodded, "Okay."
The two chatted for a while longer before Eloise went back to her room.
Hector sits leaning against the bed, laptop in his lap, seemingly working on his work.
At the sound of the door opening, his hands moved and he looked up towards the door.
Eloise walked into the room and caught a glimpse of the man sitting on the bed and her lips curled up, "Busy?"
"Taking care of a few things." Hector closed his computer.
Eloise yawned, tears coming out of her eyes, she wiped them away, "You get busy then, I'm going to take a shower."
Seeing her enter the bathroom, Hector continued the work he had just left unfinished.
Eloise came out of the shower just as Hector was finishing up his work.
Eloise said as she walked to the edge of the bed and sat down, "It's my second uncle's birthday in a few days, let's go and have dinner together." "Birthday?" Hector turned his head to look at her.
Eloise brushed her lips, "It seemed like it was going to be a big affair, but considering Grandpa was still in the hospital, it was switched to a family dinner." "You're going?" Hector asked.
"Can I not go?" Eloise shrugged her shoulders and said reluctantly, "My brother-in-law said it would be bad if I didn't go as I'm a junior."
Seeing that she was reluctant, Hector went to sit next to her and put his arm around her shoulders, "Why don't we go back to City J. That way, they have nothing to say."
"I was actually thinking the same thing." Eloise's face lit up with joy, but the next second it was bleak, "Forget it, just go, just get the present delivered anyway."
If they had chosen this time to go back to City J, they might have been made up by their great-uncle and uncle.
Hector stroked her head and said softly, "Actually you don't have to care what they think or say, it's most important that you're happy."
"Of course I know it's most important that I'm happy." Eloise leaned her head on his shoulder and sighed softly, "But I thought about the possibility of my mum coming back to the Khan family later. so... you must know what I mean." How could Hector not understand, "Don't I still have me? They wouldn't dare do anything to Mom."
"We can't always stay in Kyoto." Eloise sat up straight and turned her head to stare at him, "So even for my mother's sake, I'll celebrate my second uncle's birthday properly."
Hector frowned slightly, why did he get the impression that she wasn't simply talking about 'celebrating'?
