Love Comes To Me
Chapter 111: I can't like him

After Eloise Thompson walked out of the office, a black Maybach pulled up in front of the door.

At once, his heartbeat picked up speed as the driver's window rolled down and a demonic face of Rupert Rogers was revealed.

"Miss Eloise," he greeted with a smile, then Rupert Rogers pulled open the car door and stepped down.

She thought it was Hector Rogers coming, and Eloise Thompson was relieved and couldn't help cursing herself for not reacting so badly.

She stepped forward and opened her mouth to ask, "Rupert, what brings you here?"

"Of course I've come to see you! Let's go! Let's go for a meal together."

Eloise Thompson was instantly embarrassed, "No, Rupert."

Eloise Thompson was more or less clear in her mind what Rupert Rogers had come to see him for.

"You're too disrespectful! I've helped you a lot before, go go go."

With that said, Rupert Rogers shoved Eloise Thompson into the car without her refusing.

Sitting in the car, Eloise Thompson looked at Rupert Rogers' face and couldn't help but speak up, "Rupert if you're here about your brother, you don't have to."

She had made up her mind that the two would never see each other again.

Rupert Rogers looked at her quizzically and said with a straight face, "What's my brother got to do with it? I'm just asking you out, that's all! We're still friends, right? Don't worry! My brother won't be mentioned at this dinner." Eloise Thompson sniffed and was embarrassed; indeed, Rupert Rogers had helped her a lot before. Anyway, she was relieved that he hadn't come for Hector Rogers.

Rupert Rogers was relieved to see that Eloise Thompson didn't say anything else, and finally muddled through.

The car arrived at an upmarket French restaurant in an elegant and quiet setting and Rupert Rogers led Eloise Thompson to her reserved table.

Eloise Thompson was unaware that she had ordered a lot of food and Rupert Rogers ordered another bottle of very high proof wine, only to speak up as Rupert Rogers poured her the wine, "Rupert, no, I don't drink." Rupert Rogers ignored it and continued to pour the wine, speaking without blushing or racing, "Just a little bit, and it's not too strong, it's fine."

Eventually, Eloise Thompson didn't say anything more.

While waiting for the food, Rupert Rogers looked for topics to chat about.

"Miss Eloise, are you busy at work?"

"Huh?" Eloise Thompson froze, then shook her head, "Not busy! Why, Rupert, why do you ask?"

"It's good that you're not busy, I meant to say that! You have to take care of your health if you're usually busy with work, don't be like my brother, who was still busy from early this morning until now and couldn't even eat." At these words, Eloise Thompson's gaze flickered slightly and her emotions became a little mixed for a moment, she sipped her water and said nothing, only to hear Rupert Rogers ask again, "Miss Eloise do you usually smoke?" Eloise Thompson looked at him again in confusion, "No smoking!"

Why are you asking her this for good reason?

Rupert Rogers nodded and said in the same unhurried tone as earlier, "It's good not to smoke, you know? My brother, for some reason, smoked a lot of cigarettes today, which are very bad for your health, and I couldn't persuade him to do so. Eloise Thompson: "..."

Is it because of himself that he is smoking and busy with work?

"By the way, Miss Eloise, my brother ..."

Eloise Thompson interrupted, "Rupert, didn't we agree not to mention your brother?"

At that, Rupert Rogers smiled awkwardly, "I was just talking about it!"

At that moment, the waiter brought the food and Rupert Rogers picked up the glass on the table and spoke, "Miss Eloise, here, have a drink." Eloise Thompson didn't want to drink, but distracted by Rupert Rogers' comment, she took a light sip from the glass on the table.

Rupert Rogers intentionally replaces excuses to get Eloise Thompson to drink, one time to flirt and the other to toast someone between them or something.

Eloise Thompson is not a very good drinker and after a few glasses, she was so dizzy that she couldn't even tell where she was after the whole meal. "Rupert, that's all for today, thank you for taking me to dinner, I'll be back."

Eloise Thompson just stood up and fell back into her seat because she was unsteady.

Rupert Rogers rushed to steady her, a smile in his eyes before he asked, "Hold on Miss Eloise, let's talk some more, let me ask you a few questions!" "Hmm." Eloise Thompson responded faintly, her whole body dizzy and not actually hearing what Rupert Rogers was saying.

Rupert Rogers looked at her and after a moment's thought inquired, "Why are you avoiding my brother?"

His brother is in a bad mood and it must be because of his sister-in-law.

As for what exactly, Rupert Rogers reckons it must have been something like Eloise Thompson's offer to cut ties.

At that, Eloise Thompson's heart pumped... why?

She opened her mouth and said, "I don't deserve him, so I don't want to get involved for fear of falling deeper and deeper."

The alcohol has numbed her mind and the mention of Hector Rogers makes Eloise Thompson feel bad inside and only she knows that she is now in deep.

Rupert Rogers smiled, it looked like the wine had really worked! He took the recorder out of his pocket and then continued, "From what you're saying, you like my brother?" "Well..." Eloise Thompson shook her head, "hi ... don't like it."

Rupert Rogers was in a hurry, "How can you not like that, my brother is so good to you, who do you like if you don't like him?"

"He is very nice to me, but I can't like him, I can't, or his family will be upset."

At this, Rupert Rogers frowned slightly at what he said.

"I'm quite happy about it! His family won't be unhappy."

"Will do..." Eloise Thompson muttered as she slumped over the table.

Rupert Rogers scratched his head, listening to the clouds, and then continued with his set of words.

"I'm going to ask you a question and you're going to answer it quickly, okay?"

"Good."

With that said, Rupert Rogers spoke up and asked, "Do you like your stepmother?"

Eloise Thompson shook her head, "Not like that."

"So, do you like Robbie Gardner?"

A flicker of disgust crossed Eloise Thompson's face and she continued to shake her head.

"Not like that."

"What about your mum? Do you like your mum?"

"Like."

"What about Solomon?"

Eloise Thompson nodded without the slightest hesitation, "Love it."

Rupert Rogers pursed his lips and continued, "What about Hector Rogers? Do you like him?"

"Like." At the words, Eloise Thompson shook her head again and said in one breath, "No, I can't like him." Hector parents disagree, she is not good enough for him having been a surrogate and she cannot like him. "Why can't you like him, is it something to do with the past?"

Eloise Thompson nodded, a bitter smile pulling at the corners of her mouth, "Yeah!"

At that, Rupert Rogers became tense, staring at her and asking, "What really happened in the past?"
