Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1134: To replace a golden son-in-law
There was silence all around, and faint sounds of conversation could be heard coming from the villa.
Ainsley stared dead at Edgar, she didn't say anything, just waited for him to give her a reasonable explanation.
But she forgot that she was, at this point, nothing more than a familiar stranger to Edgar.
There was no need to explain to her who he was with or what he had done.
So he didn't say anything either.
Finally, it was Ainsley who couldn't help herself.
"Hey, don't you have anything to say to me?"
"Say what?" Edgar asked in an indifferent tone, his expression too calm to make a ripple.
"Say...," Ainsley choked out.
She was the one who had a point, but when he asked, she couldn't say anything.
She took a deep breath, "Fine, I don't care about you and that woman, but I won't allow you to have any more contact with her in the future."
At that, Edgar laughed, "Ainsley, in what position are you not allowing me to have any contact with another woman?"
"I'm your fiancée." Ainsley tilted her chin up and spoke with a straight face.
"Fiancée?" The corners of Edgar's mouth curled up in a sneer, "I will not approve of a marriage between the Khan family, Boone family, so you will never be my fiancée." His tone was clearly gentle, but his words were heartless.
Ainsley couldn't help but freeze, "You, you don't say things so absolutely, maybe..."
She thought for a moment and continued, "Maybe later you'll like me."
"Like you?" Edgar raised an eyebrow, "Do you want the truth?"
The truth?
Was he trying to hurt her by saying something heartless again?
Ainsley turned her face away, "No, I won't listen to anything!"
Edgar was silent for a few seconds before he spoke, "Happy birthday."
At those words, the corners of Ainsley's mouth couldn't help but rise, but her mouth still wouldn't let up, "Don't think I'll forgive you just because you said 'happy birthday"." Edgar chuckled softly, "I don't care if you forgive me or not. I just wanted to tell you that I have to go."
With those words, without waiting for Ainsley's reaction, he simply lifted his steps and left.
"Edgar!" Ainsley shouted at his back, but he didn't seem to hear him.
Ainsley was so angry that she stomped her foot in the same place, but finally had no choice but to go after him.
When they reached the front yard, Edgar bumped into Ainsley's father.
He stopped and politely called out, "Uncle Boone."
Ainsley's father looked behind him and asked in confusion, "Isn't Ainsley with you?"
Edgar didn't make a sound.
At that moment, Ainsley came running up to him and shouted in exasperation, "Edgar, I'm telling you, there are plenty of people after me, not just you!" "Ainsley, what are you talking about?" Ainsley's father frowned and glared at her unhappily.
Ainsley was angry and saw only Edgar in her eyes, not paying attention to Ainsley's father, until Ainsley's father spoke up and she suddenly realised he was there. She hurriedly gathered her temper and shouted good-naturedly, "Dad."
"What did you just say?" Ainsley's father asked.
"Nothing." Ainsley shook her head, "I was just messing around with Edgar."
"Were you?" Ainsley's father was clearly not convinced as he looked to Edgar, "Is she telling the truth?"
Ainsley, fearing that Edgar would tell on her father, tugged at his sleeve, gesturing for him to keep his mouth shut.
Edgar gave her a sidelong glance and spoke indifferently, "Uncle Boone, I have to go and I'll come back to visit you some other time."
Ainsley's father was surprised, "You're leaving now?"
Edgar smiled apologetically, "Uncle Boone, I'm sorry, the company has some business to finish."
"That's fine, a man should put his career first, go ahead and get busy. We'll have another get-together between the two of us some time." "Thank you Uncle Boone for your understanding. I'll be off, bye."
Edgar nodded at Ainsley's father and turned to leave without a backward glance.
"Edgar!"
Ainsley tried to chase after him.
"Ainsley," Ainsley's father rushed to pull her back.
"Dad, what are you doing?" Ainsley glared at him disgruntled, "Why are you pulling me when this man is leaving?"
"What do you think?" Ainsley's father sighed, "He's got work to do, you're not being sensible by rushing up and not letting him go."
"But..." Ainsley was aggrieved, "Didn't he just get here?"
"He didn't mean to, did he? You'll have to marry him later and get used to the idea that he'll neglect you for work, but that's the kind of man who takes charge." Ainsley's father said in a serious voice. Ainsley nodded, "Okay, I get it."
She turned to go back into the villa just in time to see Edwina talking to someone not far away and her eyes went cold for a moment.
It was all that woman, otherwise Edgar wouldn't have left so early.
Recalling the scene she had seen in the back garden, cynicism surged through her and she narrowed her eyes, she could not let her go like that.
Ainsley returned to the cottage where her friends were playing at something, making a lot of noise.
As soon as she approached, someone pulled her over and sat her down, "Ainsley, do you want to play truth or dare? It's so exciting."
Ainsley was not interested, "I'm not in the mood, you guys play by yourselves."
She then looked across at the man, "Fatty, come with me for a minute, I need to see you."
The man she called "Fatty" immediately lit up, "The beautiful woman wants to see me, take your time."
The fat man followed Ainsley upstairs.
The others looked at me, and I looked at you, all with a puzzled look on their faces.
Usually Ainsley didn't like Fatty at all, so why did she call him away alone now?
When they got upstairs, Fatty got horny and took Ainsley directly into his arms, smiling bitchily, "Big beauty, are you lonely and hard to bear?" "Fuck off!" Ainsley unceremoniously pushed him away with force and warned him sternly, "This is my home, don't mess around."
The fat man lost interest and bristled, "Tell me, what do you want from me?"
"To introduce a beautiful woman to you."
"A beautiful woman?" The fat man frowned, "In my eyes, you are the only one who can be called beautiful."
Everyone likes a compliment.
Ainsley tilted her chin up proudly, "You have an eye for beauty. But this one I'm introducing isn't bad either, I'm sure you'll like it." "Who is it?"
"You come with me."
Ainsley led him to the balcony, pointed to Edwina downstairs and said, "That's her. She's a friend of mine who came to my birthday party today to replace a golden boy, and I thought you'd be perfect for it." Although he could only see the woman's side face, he could still see that she was indeed a beautiful woman and had a nice figure.
The fat man still didn't believe it could be that good, "Are you sure you want to introduce me?"
"Sure." Ainsley was all smiles, "Be in that room later, I'll bring her up to meet you."
