Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1200: A moment of confusion
Back at the shop, Edwina went straight to the manager.
"Manager, I want to take a leave of absence."
"What's wrong?" The manager put down the cup in his hand, saw that she didn't look very well and asked with concern. "People are a bit uncomfortable."
The manager nodded, "Alright, go back and rest then."
"Thank you manager."
Edwina turned around and went to the changing room to change out of the uniform she was wearing.
"Edwina, did something happen?" A colleague poked her head in at the door and looked at her worriedly. Edwina turned her head and forced a smile, "Nothing."
"Is it?" The colleague came in and looked her up and down, "Did that aunt say something about you?"
Edwina's hands paused as she hung up her clothes, then she hung them up and shook her head with a smile, "Nothing of the sort."
"No way." Her colleague stared at her intently, "That aunt must have said something, otherwise how else could you suddenly be unwell for no reason at all?"
"It's really nothing." Edwina closed the locker and turned her head, saying casually, "Maybe I didn't sleep well last night."
"It's really nothing?" The colleague was still a little unconvinced.
Edwina nodded, "Well, it's really fine."
"Alright then, go home and get some rest."
Edwina patted her shoulder, "It's been a hard day for you."
"No no, just hurry up and go home." Her colleague waved her hand in mock impatience, shooing her away.
Edwina smiled, didn't say anything else and turned to leave.
As she walked out of the restaurant, the smile on Edwina's face slowly faded, and she looked around at the people coming and going, her nose inexplicably sinking. She hurriedly tilted her face up to force back her tears.
"What's there to cry about, there's nothing to cry about." She raised her hand and wiped the corners of her eyes fiercely.
Today, Madam Brimlad's words had made her recognise the reality.
That person was not someone she could afford to climb high.
It was just that it was really hard to feel bad inside.
"Edwina, what are you doing standing here?"
A familiar voice rang in her ears and Edwina hurriedly collected her thoughts and turned her head to look.
It turned out to be Edwards.
"What brings you here?" Edwina asked.
Her voice was a little hoarse and her eyes looked red.
Edwards couldn't help but wrinkle his eyebrows, "You're crying?"
"No... no." Edwina lowered her head.
She had clearly been crying.
Edwards stared at the top of her head for a moment, pondering, and asked, "Do you have a moment?"
"Can I help you?" Edwina lifted her head and asked instead of answering.
"I'm on leave today and I'm looking for someone to walk me around Kyoto, after all, I haven't been back in years and I'm a bit of a stranger." Edwards Edwina smiled, "Can you walk me around?"
Edwina pursed her lips and thought for a moment, "Yes."
Seeing her say yes, Edwards was beaming, "Thank you, Edwina."
"No."
She was just trying to take her mind off her unhappiness.
...
Before leaving home in the morning, Edgar made it a point to tell Eloise to wait for him to return before going to the party together.
The first time I saw Edgar, I couldn't help but laugh, "Cousin, don't worry, I'll wait for you to come back before we go together." "That's fine. I'm off to work."
Watching Edgar go out, Eloise slowly curbed her smile and her expression became heavy.
I hope everything goes well this evening.
It was a day where Eloise couldn't settle down to do anything at all and her whole being seemed restless.
When Brimlad came home and saw Eloise trimming the flower beds with a large pair of shears, he exclaimed, "Eloise, what are you doing?"
At the sound of the voice, Eloise looked up to see Brimlad hurrying towards her.
"Auntie, you're back." Eloise put down the large shears in her hands and looked at the approaching Brimlad with a smile Brimlad.
Brimlad took one look at the pruned flower beds and frowned fiercely, "Eloise, why are you the one pruning these flowers and plants? The maids are so lawless!" Eloise hurriedly explained, "No, no. Auntie, I was bored myself and took it upon myself to ask them to come and trim them for me."
"Did they?" Brimlad stared at her incredulously, "Did something happen to you?"
So perverse, something must be going on.
"No." Eloise shook her head, "I'm really just bored."
Just-
She looked at the trimmed flower beds, a mess, and couldn't help but smile, "Auntie, I'm sorry, I've cut them like a dog."
"It's nothing, the housekeeper will have the maids fix it up. You, on the other hand, are you really all right?" Brimlad is still a little unsure. Eloise smiled, "Well, it's really fine."
"That's good."
Brimlad looked around, "Where's the butler?"
"He's gone inside to get some things."
"Then leave this to him and let's go inside."
Brimlad pulled Eloise into the house and told her about his visit to Edwina.
Eloise was amazed at what she heard, "What did you go to see Edwina for, Auntie?"
"What else can I do." Brimlad sighed, it wasn't for your cousin."
Eloise frowned, "You're not going to warn Edwina to stay away from her cousin are you?"
Brimlad was silent.
"Auntie, you really did that?" Eloise looked at her incredulously.
This was too much of a dogfight.
"Actually, I was confused for a moment." Brimlad sat down on the sofa and thought back on what she had said to Edwina with a little regret. The boy didn't seem as bad as she thought he was.
"No, Auntie, why did you do that?" Eloise asked suspiciously as she sat down next to her.
She had always thought she would be a sensible elder, but she hadn't expected to do such a helpless thing either.
Brimlad was silent for a moment before speaking slowly, "To tell you the truth, I did send someone to follow your cousin."
"Huh?" Eloise thought she had misheard.
"I didn't want to do that, I was just afraid he might be with Edwina."
Brimlad's explanation didn't make sense to Eloise.
"Auntie, you've always been sensible and open-minded, how could you do that? How angry my cousin would be if he found out." Eloise couldn't understand what she was doing at all.
"You mustn't tell your cousin." Brimlad hastened to admonish her.
"I know." Eloise laughed helplessly, "But you really mustn't do that again, Auntie, or you won't be able to hide it."
"I know." Brimlad thought for a moment and said with some concern, "Eloise, Edwina shouldn't hold a grudge against me, should she?"
Eloise said helplessly, "Auntie, since you've done that, you're still worried about Edwina holding a grudge against you."
"I was just confused for a moment."
"Don't worry, Edwina won't hold a grudge against you." Eloise took a deep breath, "I feel sorry for Edwina, she didn't do anything, she's really innocent."
"She didn't do anything, but I'm also saving for a rainy day."
"Auntie, even if it was a rainy day, you should have warned your cousin, not Edwina."
In her opinion, Edgar's mind was really inscrutable and she didn't know what he was thinking about Edwina, so if she really wanted to stop him and Edwina, she would have to start with him.
