Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1204: I want the exact time
He said he believed her, but in his heart he didn't.
Eloise laughed softly, "Bergerian, you think too much, I don't even bother to deceive you."
The smile on Bergerian's face froze instantly and his eyes sank a few shades.
Eloise turned and smiled apologetically at Manzanares, "Mr. Manzanares, I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't help you."
She didn't want to cause any more trouble for anyone.
Better yet, leave Manzanares out of it.
"Sister-in-law ... No, Miss Eloise, you can't help halfway and then stop, can you?" Manzanares almost revealed his relationship with Eloise, but thankfully changed his tune just in time. "I'm sorry."
Manzanares was anxious to get her out of there, but she had her concerns, so he couldn't say anything else.
He could only nod, "Fine, I'll replace someone else."
He turned and walked inside, looking back at Eloise every now and then, worried that Bergerian might give her a hard time.
Only when Manzanares was gone did Bergerian speak, "Sofía, I don't like it when people lie to me."
Eloise turned her head and looked at him with a cool gaze, her red lips parted lightly, "So do I, so I expect you to keep your word."
"Haha." Bergerian laughed twice and gazed deeply at her, "You sure are funny."
Eloise's brow furrowed lightly, funny? What was so funny about her?
"Don't worry, when the party is over I'll let you know when Earlene returns."
With that, he took Eloise's hand and let her take his.
"The most important thing now is to stay with me."
Eloise was tempted to jerk her hand back, but the thought of commiserating for a few hours to get Earlene's time back home made her relent and follow Bergerian back to the party.
...
"Why are you back?"
Edgar stared in surprise as he saw Manzanares approaching.
Manzanares shrugged and said helplessly, "Got caught out."
"How?"
Edgar looked towards the door, only to see Eloise enter with Bergerian on her arm.
"The enemy is too strong." Manzanares sighed heavily.
It was more accurate to say that they had thought Bergerian too easy.
"No, I must save Eloise."
Edgar picked up his drink and struck out towards Bergerian and the others.
"Mr Bergerian."
Edgar cut Bergerian off directly.
The latter raised his eyes and looked at him with an expressionless face, "Mr Edgar, what do you mean by that?"
"We have a saying here, 'It's a pleasure to have friends from afar', nice to meet you."
Edgar raised his glass.
Bergerian didn't understand what he meant by that phrase and turned his head to Eloise, begging for an explanation. "What my cousin means is that you are his friend from far away." Eloise looked over at Edgar and saw the worry in his eyes. She couldn't say anything to Bergerian's face, except to give him a reassuring smile and tell him she was fine.
"So that's what it means." Bergerian nodded in realization and raised his glass to clink it with him, "Yes, we're friends." For the rest of the day, Edgar followed them around.
Matthew had the urge to shoo him away, but was stopped by Bergerian.
"He's a friend of mine."
As he said this, Bergerian gave Edgar a meaningful look.
And Edgar lifted his chin with an expression that he took for granted.
She should have been worried and scared, but seeing Edgar like this, Eloise couldn't help but smile.
I can't believe that my cousin is still so cheeky.
As soon as the party was over, Edgar immediately pulled Eloise back to his side, "Mr Bergerian, that's about it."
Matthew and the others tried to step forward to grab the man, but Bergerian reached out to stop them and raised his eyes to Eloise, "Sofía, I'm a man of my word."
"Then you tell me when Earlene will be back in the country."
Bergerian smiled, "It's only for two days, so watch yourselves."
"I want the exact time."
Such an ambiguous time, she already knew.
What she wanted was Earlene's exact time of return.
"She didn't tell me."
It wasn't that Bergerian didn't want to tell her, but Earlene was so cautious that even he hadn't told the exact time.
"You lied to me?" Eloise looked at him with some disbelief.
"I'm not lying to you, Earlene will indeed be back home in the next two days, anyway, you've already sent someone to keep an eye on the airport, I'm sure we'll have good news soon." With that said, Bergerian led Matthew and the others away.
Annoyed, Eloise yelled at his back, "Bergerian, I will never trust you again!"
At those words, Bergerian gave a start, and then continued on his way without even looking back.
"Don't be angry, at least we know it's these two days." Edgar patted Eloise's shoulder reassuringly.
Eloise took a deep breath and a bitter smile spread across the corners of her mouth, "I really was naive, I should have known earlier that that Earlene person wasn't that easy to tell anyone when she was returning." She was angry that she had actually thought that she would be able to replace out something from Bergerian's mouth.
"It's okay, I'll have someone keep an extra eye on it for the next two days."
Edgar breathed a long sigh of relief, "It's a good thing he didn't give you a hard time, otherwise I wouldn't have known how to save you."
"I'm sorry to have worried you."
She looked apologetic and Edgar lifted his hand to touch her head, "It's okay."
"Sister-in-law." Manzanares came running over, "Are you okay?"
Eloise smiled and shook her head, "I'm fine."
"That's good." Manzanares sighed in relief, then he asked, "By the way, when is big brother coming back?"
At the mention of Hector, Eloise's expression dimmed and she forced a smile, "Soon."
"What do you mean soon?" Manzanares looked at Edgar in confusion.
Edgar patted his shoulder, "Soon means soon, and when he comes back, I'll tell him you missed him."
"I don't miss him in any way." Manzanares looked uncomfortable, "I just asked that in passing."
Edgar lost his smile, "Well, enough chit chat, I have to take Eloise home."
"Okay, you guys have a safe trip."
After saying goodbye to the Manzanares, Edgar and Eloise headed straight back to the old Khan family home.
When the car was parked, Edgar turned his head and said, "Eloise, I have things to do, you go in first."
"Where else are you going at this late hour?" Eloise asked, puzzled.
"To replace a friend."
"A friend?" Eloise frowned, "You're not going to see Edwina, are you?"
Edgar didn't answer directly, only saying, "I'll be back early."
"No, cousin, if you don't mean Edwina, stay away from people, don't cause misunderstanding, it will be troublesome then."
Eloise would remind him because she didn't want this to hurt Edwina when the time came.
Edgar raised an eyebrow, "You're overthinking it, I'm not going after her."
"Really?" Eloise looked at him suspiciously.
"Really, go on in and get some rest."
He had said that, Eloise couldn't say anything more, she could only urge him to come back early and get out of the car. She watched him drive away before Eloise turned around and went inside.
