Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1233: I won't say yes
His feelings for her?
Edwina was frozen, what kind of heart was he talking about?
She was kinda cute in her dumbfounded way.
Edgar couldn't help but laugh, "Do you know why I asked you to be my date?" Edwina shook her head.
"My parents do intend for me to marry Elva, but I don't really like Elva, I like ..." "Edwina!"
Edwards ran over and interrupted Edgar.
"Mr. Edwards, what brings you here?" Edwina looked at Edwards in surprise.
"I've explained everything to my parents, let's get over there."
With that, he was going to take her hand.
Seeing this, Edgar crossed his long legs and stood in front of Edwina, looking at him coldly, "You can't take her there." Edwards laughed, "Why can't I take her there? She's my girlfriend."
With a frown, Edgar inclined his head and looked askance at Edwina, "You're his girlfriend?"
Edwina looked at Edwards, clasped her hands together and nodded, "Yeah."
And she nodded!
Edgar laughed in exasperation, "Did you think you could fool me?"
Edwina's eyes widened in surprise, did he know?
"Edgar, Edgar's 's father has arrived." Edwards said suddenly.
"So?" Edgar's brow furrowed and a bad feeling came over him.
"He's talking to my parents about your marriage to my sister, and it seems to be going well."
Seeing that Edwards did not look like he was lying, Edgar hastily said to Edwina, "Don't worry, I won't agree to the marriage."
Then, walking quickly into the ballroom.
Edwina and Edwards were left on the balcony.
Edgar's words still seemed to echo in her ears, and Edwina smiled to herself.
It wasn't that she didn't believe him, but she couldn't believe him. After all, the marriage between the Khan family and the Boone family was a big deal, and it was a matter of honour for both families, so it couldn't be cancelled if he didn't agree.
Edwards looked deep into her eyes, taking in the despondency on her face, and he asked softly, "You like him?"
Edwina looked up, met his caring eyes, curled her lips in a smile and admitted frankly, "Yes, I like him."
Edwards pondered for a moment and asked, "And does he like you?"
At his question, Edwina remembered what Edgar hadn't finished saying earlier.
"I don't really like Elva, I like ..."
Was it her?
Edwina dreaded to think, but couldn't help but look forward to it.
"He didn't say that, did he?" Edwards asked again.
Edwina took a deep breath, "Well, he didn't say, but what does that I have to do with liking him."
"Relationships are about two lovers, it's you who suffers if a one-sided liking is not reciprocated." Edwards said in a serious tone. "You've been there?"
It felt like he was warning her with the tone of someone who had been there.
Edwards smiled, "Whether I've been there or not, my words make sense."
Edwina thought for a moment and said, "Mr. Edwards, I may not be able to help you with this."
"Why?" Edwards frowned.
"It's not good to cheat on your elders, so you'd better replace a real girlfriend."
More importantly she could see that Edgar was angry just because she was pretending to be Edwards' girlfriend.
Edwards was helpless, "No, Edwina, if I could replace a real girlfriend, I wouldn't need to ask you for help."
"That's because you don't want to replace one." Edwina smiled, "With your qualifications, there must be plenty of girls after you."
"So what?" Edwards pulled his lips down in self-deprecation, "I don't think I'll ever fall in love with anyone in my life."
At that, Edwina found it strange, "Why do you say that?"
"Edwina," Edwards stared at her seriously, "I really need your help."
"But..."
Edwina was about to refuse when Edwards put his hands on her shoulders and looked down into her eyes, "Edwina, you just need to help me tonight and I'll replace a chance to talk to my parents about it." He had said it all, and it seemed a little unjustified if she refused to help again.
Edwina sighed, "Okay."
She finally agreed.
Edwards let out a long breath of relief and smiled, "Then you and I will go and see my parents now."
Fine brows furrowed, Edwina hesitated, "Can I not go see them?"
"What's the point of me asking you to pretend to be my girlfriend if you're not going to meet them?"
Knowing she was nervous, Edwards patted her shoulder and reassured her, "You don't have to be afraid with me around, just keep smiling, I'll sort the rest out."
Edwina took a deep breath and nodded, "Okay."
...
Baggott and Elva's parents stood together, not knowing what to talk about, both sides burst out laughing.
"Dad." Edgar hurried over to them.
Seeing him coming, Baggott said with a quick smile, "Edgar."
"Dad." Edgar finished his greeting, nodded again towards Elva's parents and turned to his father, "Dad, let's go to the side, I want to talk to you."
"If you have something to say, say it here, there's no one else here."
No outsiders?
Edgar looked at Elva's parents, and Elva, and his eyebrows knitted up, did he mean by that that they had negotiated the union?
"Yes, Edgar, we're family now." Elva's mother smiled from ear to ear.
"Edgar," Elva said daintily as she came over and put her arms around him, "My parents and Uncle Edgar have agreed to pick a good day for us to get engaged." "Engaged?!" Edgar pushed her hand away and glared angrily at Baggott, "Dad, how can you agree to this marriage without asking for permission?"
Baggott didn't take his anger seriously, still smiling, "Isn't it normal for marriage to be a parental decision?"
"Dad, I don't agree with this marriage!" Edgar made his attitude clear straight away.
The moment this statement was made, the faces of several people present changed. Baggott frowned and sternly rebuked, "Edgar, do you know what you are saying?"
Edgar glanced at Elva and said in a cold voice, "I don't like Elva."
Hearing this, Elva became upset and shouted, "Edgar, what do you mean? Is there something wrong with me?"
"No, you're nice, but I don't like it."
His tone was nonchalant and uncomfortable to listen to.
"Edgar!" cried Elva, exasperated.
Didn't he know how much she liked him, how could he hurt her feelings like that?
Elvaâ€TMs parents saw their daughter crying and both of them blushed.
"Edgar, Elva is very fond of you, her heart is full of you, aren't you going too far?" Elva's father glared at him with displeasure.
Edgar asked back in a light voice, "She likes me, do I have to like her?"
