Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1235: We don't fit
The scene was a little tense for a while.
Edwina squeezed her small hand tightly and then loosened it, shaking Edgar's hand off with force, "Mr Farabee, sorry, I can't help you."
With those words, she walked over to Edwards and looked up at him, the corners of her mouth curling up, "Edwards and I have a very stable relationship, so I'm sorry, I can't help with that." Edwards frowned, confusion written in his eyes, what was she doing?
"Edwina," Edgar reached out to pull her, but she ducked out of the way.
She turned her head, a cold aura in her eyes, and her tone was indifferent, "Mr Farabee, I understand that you want to resist the engagement arranged by your parents, but I hope you will settle it in a good way, not by deceit. After all, if you tell one lie, you have to make it up with a million lies."
Edgar laughed, a little helplessly, "Edwina, do you know what you are saying?"
Edwina ignored him and turned to Edwards, "Edwards, let's go."
She pulled Edwards with her and struck off.
Baggott was the first to react, wondering, "Edgar, what the hell is going on here?"
"Uncle Baggott, don't you see? Edgar doesn't want to marry me, so he found some random woman to try to stall us." Elva's mouth curled in a sneer.
Edwina had been smart enough to know what she was doing, otherwise this would not have ended.
Now it was up to Edgar to decide how he wanted to end it.
Edgar laughed out, with a sarcastic smile, "Anyway, I will never agree to the marriage."
With those words, he turned around and walked away.
Elva wanted to go over, but Elva's mother pulled her back, "Come on, he said he didn't like you, why are you still trying to get in there? Are you ashamed of yourself?" As she said this, Elva's mother glanced at Baggott with a clear sense of sarcasm.
It was her son's fault.
Baggott could only smile and say, "Boone, don't be angry, I'll teach this brat a good lesson when I get back."
"Humph! I don't think we can afford to be high up."
Elva's mother pulled Elva along, "Let's go."
As he watched them walk away, Baggott sighed heavily and said helplessly to Elva's father, "Boone, I'm really sorry to have spoiled your fun today."
Elva's father went up to him and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "It's okay. I understand Edgar, young kids have their own opinions, and we fathers can't force them, can we?" "What about the marriage?"
"It's still up to us, and I'm sure my Elva will change Edgar's mind." Elva's father had faith in his daughter.
Baggott smiled, "Well then, everything will be done as we had originally discussed."
...
Edwina pulled Edwards out of the hotel and didn't stop until she was almost to the road.
She looked at the cars coming and going on the road and a bitter smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.
Edwards sighed softly, "Edwina, why are you doing this?"
Edwina curled her lip and turned her head to look at him, "Do you think I'm doing it wrong?"
"It wasn't wrong, it was just ..."
She had undoubtedly hurt Edgar by doing that, and he, a bystander, could see quite clearly that Edgar liked her.
Edwina took a deep breath, "He and I are just two worlds apart. What he needs is a wife who can help him in his career, and I can't do that."
It would be better to break it off sooner rather than later than allow myself to get deeper into this fruitless relationship.
Edwards frowned, "But do you think he needs it?"
"Doesn't he need it?" Edwina asked rhetorically, she looked at Malou again and pursed her lips, "Even if he doesn't need it, his parents do."
"If it were me, I don't need a wife who can help me in my career, but a lover who I truly love."
Edwards put a hand on her shoulder and sighed, "Never underestimate a man's determination."
Edwina turned her head to look at him, her thin eyebrows furrowing slightly, not understanding what he meant.
Edwards Edwina gave a little sigh, "He's here, you can talk to him yourself."
With that, he inclined his head and gestured for her to look back.
Edwina turned her head, only to see Edgar standing just a short distance away, his back to the light, it was impossible to see how he looked at the moment. "Have a good talk with him." Edwards patted her shoulder and took a step towards the hotel.
Edwina stood still, the hands that had fallen to her side slowly clenching.
Edgar approached slowly, step by step, his dark, ink-like eyes fixed on her.
"Why did you do that?" He asked, flicking his thin lips.
Edwina bit her lip, not making a sound.
Edgar pulled his lips down in self-deprecation, "Do you really like Edwards?"
Edwina squeezed her palms together, forced a smile and put on a lighthearted face as she said, "Yeah, I like him a lot."
Edgar gazed at her in silence, not saying a word.
There was silence all around, only the sound of cars coming from the road.
It was only after a long time that Edgar spoke slowly, "You're lying."
Edwina laughed, "Where do you get the idea that I'm lying?" "Mr. Edgar, perhaps you could consider what your parents think, it would help you to marry Elva."
"Is this your way of persuading me to marry someone I don't like?" Edgar asked in a hushed voice.
Edwina's eyelashes dropped, avoiding his overly dark eyes, and said, "Relationships can be nurtured slowly, maybe you'll like Miss. Elva."
"No way!" Edgar's tone was very definite.
Whether he might like Elva or not, it didn't really matter to her.
She pulled the corner of her mouth and said lightly, "Mr. Edgar, I'm tired, I want to go home and rest."
With that, she turned around and tried to leave.
Edgar hurriedly reached out and grabbed her wrist, his tone a little urgent, "Can't you see my feelings?"
Edwina closed her eyes and the corners of her mouth curled up, "Mr. Edgar, we are not suitable."
She pushed his hand away, striding down the road and hailing a taxi.
Edgar could only stand still and watch as she got in and left.
As soon as she got in and gave the name of the place, Edwina turned her head and looked out of the window at the flashing street scene, tears slipping down from the corners of her eyes. I'm sorry, Mr. Edgar.
She didn't want Edgar to fight with her father because of him.
She was already happy that he liked her, but she didn't dare to think about this relationship.
The tears fell even harder at the thought of it.
The driver couldn't help but turn his head to look at her and asked with concern, "Girl, did you have a fight with your boyfriend?"
As soon as Edwina heard this, she hurriedly wiped her tears and squeezed out a smile, "No."
The driver looked at her again, "It's okay, it's not a shame to fight with your boyfriend. And relationships just get better when you argue."
Edwina smiled, didn't say anything and turned her head to look out the window again.
The driver was rambling in her ear about him and his wife, and she curled her lips slowly.
Maybe it was really time for her to fall in love.
