Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1238: Did you take the necklace?

Earlene watched Eloise leave, thoughtfully for a moment, and looked across at the man with a critical eye.

"Why did you want to arrange for that Elo to look after Hector?"

Rawlins' grip on his food gave a start, then resumed, his thin lips tugging, "Didn't I just say that she's the most eloquent of the new maids?"

"Did you?" Earlene's eyes narrowed, "You'd better not be thinking anything, or I'll ..."

"Or you'll what?" Rawlins interrupted her, putting down her chopsticks and looking at her with a sarcastic smile, "Are you not going to leave me alone? Or are you going to take back the management of the Bartram Group?" Earlene's thin brow furrowed.

She was actually just trying to warn him, not really intending to do anything to him.

"I'm full, you guys take your time."

Rawlins got up and walked out of the restaurant without a backward glance.

"Is your brother angry?" Hector asked.

EarleneEdwina smiled, "Don't mind him, we'll finish eating and go upstairs too."

Hector nodded, "Good."

After eating, Earlene and Hector went upstairs and back to their room.

Looking around the room, Hector smiled, "Nice clean up, that Elo is just as eloquent as your big brother said he was."

He sounded as if he knew that Elo well.

Earlene narrowed her eyes, "You remember her?"

Hector recalled Elo's admonition and explained, "I've only lost my memory, it's not like I have a bad memory. If I've seen her, I'm sure I'll remember." "Stay away from her from now on."

Earlene turned to the dresser and pulled open the jewellery box, her gaze falling on the delicate jewellery inside, her eyes shining.

"Why?" Hector asked curiously as he approached.

He thought that Elo was quite nice and gave him a comfortable feeling that wasn't repulsive at all.

"Want to hear the truth?" Earlene turned, her gaze locked on him.

Hector nodded, "Of course I want to hear the truth."

"I don't like her."

Hector froze and subconsciously blurted out, "Why, what's wrong with her?"

Earlene frowned, "Hector, is this you holding out for her?"

"No. I'm just asking." Hector scratched his head and smiled shyly.

"If you don't like someone, it must be because the other person is bad in every way."

Earlene closed the jewellery box and gave him a soft smile, "I've got some work to do, so I'll leave you to your room and get some rest." Hector said, "Don't stay up too late, get some rest."

"I know."

At Hector's gaze, Earlene smiled and walked out.

The moment the door closed behind her, her face instantly went cold.

...

Eloise tidied up the kitchen and prepared to go back to her room to rest.

As she passed the stairs, she looked up to the first floor, her eyes a little sad.

Her man was now in the company of another woman.

Although she couldn't blame him for forgetting about her, it was still hard for her.

When he regained his memory, she would settle the score with him then.

She couldn't help but smile at the thought.

She could already imagine the look on Hector's face when he found out about his affair with Earlene and how remorseful he would be.

The thought of it soothed her a little.

She turned around and lifted her steps to head for her room.

At that moment, Earlene's voice sounded overhead.

"Elo, stop right there."

Eloise retracted her foot and turned her head to look at the voice, only to see Earlene walking slowly down the stairs step by step, her cold gaze fixed on her. A bad feeling grew in her heart.

This lady was not going to get her into trouble again, was she?

In her heart, she thought so, but she called out respectfully, "Miss."

Earlene walked up to her and gave her a cold look up and down, her red lips parted, "Did you see anything when you cleaned my room today?"

Eloise frowned, "Miss, I don't understand what you mean. Can you make it clearer?"

Earlene wrapped her arms around her chest and turned to walk towards the living room as she said, "I just went back to my room and found I had lost a necklace." Eloise's eyes flashed with a sharp glint; was she planning to plant it on herself?

She walked over and bowed her head, "I didn't see any necklace and I don't know what necklace."

"Don't know?" Earlene turned around, her eyes narrowed with a glare in them, "Elo, do you know what happens when you lie to the Bartram family?"

Eloise shook her head in panic, "Miss, I'm not lying, I'm telling the truth!"

Earlene snorted coldly, sat down, folded her legs and reprimanded coldly, "I'll give you one more chance, if you tell the truth, I can spare you this time."

Was she going to force her, no matter what, to admit to something she hadn't even done?

Eloise squeezed her palm, then released it and lifted her head, not humbly, "Miss, I cleaned your room today, as you ordered, but I haven't looked at any of your necklaces." Earlene stared at her with a deadly stare, not expecting her to be quite so tough-talking.

At that moment, Rawlins came down the stairs and, seeing the two of them, his sword eyebrows knitted up as he spoke out and asked, "What are you doing here?" Rawlins was aware of Elo's true identity.

When she had come into the Bartram family, Rawlins had promised her cousin that he would help her and that nothing would go wrong.

With that in mind, Eloise lowered her head and answered truthfully, "Prince, the lady said she lost a necklace and she suspects I stole it."

Rawlins gave her a look, looked to Earlene and asked, "Earlene, what necklace did you lose?"

"It's none of your business, I'll sort it out myself." Earlene gave him a cold glance, her desire for him not to meddle written plainly on her face. "Since it happened to the Bartram family, it has to do with me."

Rawlins looked to Eloise and asked, "Answer honestly, did you take the lady's necklace?"

"No."

Rawlins nodded and turned to Earlene, "I'm sure she wouldn't have taken your necklace. Why don't you look for it again, maybe it's somewhere in the room."

"You believe her when she says it's not there?" Earlene snorted and looked at him with a sneer, "Rawlins, you'd rather trust an outsider than me?"

"I don't disbelieve you." Rawlins took a deep breath and said, "Rather, I don't want to accuse random people wrongly, and Elo doesn't look like someone who would steal anything."

"You know what you're talking about, understand?" Earlene oohed and aahed, glaring coldly at Eloise, "I'm going to ask you one last time, did you take the necklace?"

"No." Eloise was instantly a little powerless, she didn't know why Earlene just disliked her so much and even came up with such a way to trap her.
