Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1257: Words
Rawlins told Eloise to wait outside and lifted a step into the house.
The butler, seeing his return, busily greeted him and reported in a whisper, "Prince, Elo has been driven away by the lady."
"I know." Rawlins took off his suit jacket and handed it to the butler, asking, "Where is the lady?"
"Upstairs."
Rawlins walked briskly upstairs to the door of Earlene's room, lifted his hand and knocked on the door. "Earlene, it's me."
After a moment, the door opened.
Earlene looked at him with an expressionless face and an indifferent tone, "What is it?"
Though long used to her attitude, Rawlins was still a little hurt.
After all, it was a far cry from the way he had treated Hector.
Rawlins couldn't care less about the hard feelings and asked, "Why did you get rid of Elo?"
"Is this you coming to speak for that Elo?" Earlene asked instead of answering, parting with mockery.
"Yes." Rawlins nodded frankly, "She's the maid I commissioned from the housekeeping company, to put it simply I chose to use her, even if I wanted to fire her I'd have to be asked first, right?" "Yes." Earlene nodded, "I'll ask you what you want now."
Rawlins furrowed his brow and looked at her for a moment.
Only to hear her speak slowly, "Elo she tried to get close to Hector three times, despite my warnings, and I have a reasonable suspicion that she wanted to turn on Hector."
"And because of that appearance, you fired her?" Rawlins' brow furrowed even more, unable to agree with her approach.
"Isn't that enough?" Earlene sneered, "Should we wait for something to happen to Hector and then fire someone?"
Rawlins took a deep breath, "That's not what I meant. I mean Elo isn't the kind of person you think he is."
"From what you're saying, do you know her well?" Earlene wrapped her arms around her chest and looked at him with a sneer in her gaze.
Rawlins found himself wound up and he lifted his hands, "Wait a minute, where did you get the idea that I knew her well?"
"Isn't that what you said yourself?" Earlene grunted, "If you don't know her well, how do you know she's not who I think she is?"
"I'm just confident in my eye for choosing people."
Rawlins thought for a moment and continued, "Hector is a grown man, not as fragile as you think, like anyone can hurt him. Also, don't think everyone is as obsessed with him as you are." "What the hell do you want?" Earlene asked coldly.
"I'll get Elo back, and if you don't want to see her, I'll explain that she stays in the backyard and goes around when she sees you, okay?"
"I don't agree." Earlene refused outright.
"Why? She's just a maid, why do you bother with her?"
If she had seen that Elo was Eloise and had just kicked someone out, he would have had nothing to say.
But that wasn't the case now, and he really couldn't understand why she was so hostile to Elo alone.
"Since you also know that she's just a servant, there's no need for you to speak for her, just replace another one when the time comes." Earlene's words were not wrong.
Rawlins didn't know what to say for a moment.
Earlene didn't want to waste time on such a pointless matter, "If there's nothing else, I've got things to do."
With those words, she raised her hand to close the door.
"Wait!"
Rawlins blocked the door and was silent for a few seconds, "Earlene, I should still have some say in this house, I'll get Elo back." With that, he turned to leave, whether Earlene agreed or not.
Earlene froze and then burst out laughing, exasperated.
She really didn't understand why he was defending a servant, was it just as she suspected that he had some ulterior motive with that Elo?
If that was the case, she could not agree with him even more.
...
Rawlins shouted Eloise straight home.
"From now on, you stay honestly in the backyard and don't go anywhere or I won't be able to bail you out next time." Rawlins specifically admonished. Eloise nodded, "Don't worry, Prince, I won't wander off again."
Rawlins didn't believe her.
She cared so much for Hector, who knew what else she might do.
But let's take it one day at a time.
And he gave up forcing her to do anything about it.
"Go to your room."
Eloise said thank you and hurried to her room.
Passing down the stairs just as Earlene came down.
The two exchanged a glance and Eloise nodded and hurried away with her head down.
"You really did let her back in." Earlene walked up to Rawlins and looked at him with some incredulity.
Rawlins smiled softly, "I just didn't want to be called an unscrupulous boss, she didn't make a big mistake, there was no reason to fire her."
"No reason?" Earlene snorted out, "I told you, I suspected she was trying to turn on Hector!"
"And you only suspected, didn't you?" Rawlins raised an eyebrow.
Earlene choked and then whirled out a laugh, a mocking smile, "Well Rawlins, you've got a real thing for that Elo."
Rawlins didn't say anything, he didn't want to say anything more, she could think what she wanted.
Earlene took a deep breath and continued, "I now suspect that you are trying to use Elo against Hector, after all you have a huge problem with him." Rawlins laughed, "Earlene, have you been watching too many dog and pony shows to come up with something like that?"
With that, he shrugged again, "Think what you want, I don't agree with firing Elo anyway."
With that, he headed straight out the door.
He needed a few drinks to soothe the irritation in his mind.
...
Edgar didn't expect that he would be photographed and posted on the internet for just asking Earlene out to dinner. The gossip was flying.
It was all rumoured that the person he liked was actually Earlene and that the marriage with the Boone Family was only to secure his position as president. Edgar couldn't help but laugh out loud when he saw the news.
"How could anyone make up such a ridiculous story?" He looked up at Ivor with a rather bemused expression.
Ivor tugged at the corner of his mouth and said cautiously, "President, weren't you pursuing Miss Earlene in the first place? So the news isn't all made up." "What time is it that this is still being brought up?" Edgar wrinkled his brow in displeasure.
Ivor shut his mouth and said silently in his mind: it's only been a few months.
"You go out, I'll make a personal call."
"Yes."
After Ivor left, Edgar called Edwina, afraid that she might see the news and get carried away.
However, no one answered after several calls.
Was she busy? Why wasn't she answering her phone?
And at that moment, Edwina was apologising to someone over and over again.
"Sorry, sorry, it was my Bonnie who hit your son by accident, please don't be angry."
