Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1323: I Guessed So

The more Earlene thought about it, the harder she found it, and finally, suddenly, she burst out laughing, finished laughing, and cried. She had done everything she could to keep Mark close.

And he leaves her because of that woman, Paulina.

No mercy.

How could he be so dismissive of her feelings when she loved him so much?

At the thought, she clenched her palms fiercely, her expression turning grim, her tear-stained eyes filled with hatred.

Since the Marcoses didn't care about her, she didn't blame her for being ruthless.

A cold sweat broke out on the backs of the men guarding her, noticing the change in her mood.

...

The night was dreamless.

Paulina slept until almost noon, when she awoke. She turned her head to see who was beside her and found no one.

Panic seized her and she sat up and looked around, searching for the familiar figure.

But the room was silent and no other person's presence was discernible.

Without thinking, she hurried out of bed and walked quickly outside in her bare feet.

As soon as the door opened, Sweety's voice was heard.

"Daddy, Mommy is a piggy, otherwise why else would she sleep so late and not get up."

Paulina ran out.

Only to see Marcos carrying Sweety towards the bedroom.

As soon as she saw Marcos, Paulina ran to him and hugged him.

The clean, fresh smell of him instantly filled her nostrils and her frightened heart slowly calmed down.

She clung to him with almost all her strength, fearing he would disappear.

Mark reached up and patted her back, saying softly, "Don't be afraid, I'm here and I won't leave you again."

Even if she hadn't said it, he knew what she was afraid of and it was heartbreaking.

Paulina slowed a little before she let go and took a step back, the corners of her mouth curling up, "Why are you up so early?"

When Sweety looked to the side, her little face scrunched up, "Mommy, it's almost noon, it's not early at all."

Paulina turned her head to look at her and frowned deliberately, "Mommy just heard you called me a pig."

"Mom is a pig, who told you to sleep so late."

Sweety was so righteous that Paulina was speechless.

She reached out and rubbed Sweety's head, "That's very eloquent."

Mark smiled, his eyes inadvertently drifted to her bare feet and his frown tightened, "Why aren't you wearing slippers?"

Paulina hearing this, unconsciously lowered her head, embarrassed for spitting out her tongue, "I ... forgot in the heat of the moment."

"The ground is cold, be careful of catching a cold." Mark's look was serious, but his tone was clearly one of concern.

"I'm going to put it on."

Paulina tiptoed back to her room to put on her cotton slippers.

Marcos left Sweety to play with Esteban in the playroom and followed him into the bedroom.

When she saw him enter, Paulina asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"

She was worried that he wouldn't sleep well when he got home.

Marcos smiled softly, "Very well, I've never slept so well."

Paulina raised an eyebrow, "Didn't you sleep well before?".

"Do you want to hear the truth?" asked Marcos instead of answering.

Paulina nodded, "Of course."

Marcos pondered for a moment, "It's not that I didn't sleep well, it's just that I couldn't sleep very well and often woke up in the middle of the night. Especially the day I came home, after seeing you at the airport, I would wake up with dreams almost every night."

"Am I that horrible?" Paulina wrinkled her forehead.

"You're not hideous, it's just that almost every night I dream that you're crying."

Guilt welled up at the mention of it.

Marcos said softly, "I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry for?"

"For forgetting about you and for never wanting to go home with you."

Marcos couldn't imagine how sad she had gotten every time he had told her no.

"It's okay." Paulina shook her head, "Aren't you back already? Let the past be the past."

It didn't matter what had happened before, what mattered was the present and the future.

Mark stepped forward and took her in his arms, his deep voice sounded above her head, "I will not leave you and the baby again, and I will do everything I can to get my memory back."

Paulina pressed her face against his chest, the corners of her mouth slowly curved up, "I believe you."

The two embraced in silence for a while before Paulina suddenly said, "There's something I forgot to tell you, actually."

"What is it?" asked Marcos matter-of-factly.

"It's that ..." Paulina abandoned her embrace and looked up with a sly smile, "I'm Loretta."

She expected him to show an expression of surprise, but instead he was calm.

She couldn't help but frown, "You're not surprised at all?".

Marcos smiled faintly, "I figured as much."

"Huh?" Paulina was puzzled.

Marcos looked down and gently kissed her slightly parted lips, the corner of his mouth curved, "Same taste."

At those words, Paulina's face instantly turned red.

She remembered the night at the Bartram's when she had taken it upon herself to kiss him.

"When did you replace out?" asked Paulina shyly, covering her cheeks.

"I don't know." Mark returned, "I just felt the same familiar feeling you two gave me."

"If you already knew Loretta was me, why didn't you want to come home with us when Mom, Dad and I came looking for you afterwards?" asked Paulina.

Mark was quiet for a moment before speaking slowly, "Earlene saved me and I promised Grandma Bartram at the time that I would take good care of Earlene, so I hesitated."

"If I hadn't told you that Earlene might have drugged you, wouldn't you have left the Bartram family?"

"Probably." Marcos smiled to himself, "Did you think I was being a little stubborn?"

"No." Paulina shook her head, "You're still the same Marcos I know."

He had always been cold before, but she knew very well that he was a very committed man.

If Earlene hadn't deceived him, he would still keep his promise to Grandma Bartram.

Mark smiled, "I hope I'm not too late to come back."

"Not too late at all." Paulina smiled, "In fact, I already know how I'm going to help you get your memory back."

"How do you want to do that?"

"You must not remember Almeida and Sener." Paulina said, "They are your best assistants and they are already working on the drug that will restore your memory." "Drug?" Marcos' brow furrowed further.

"Since Earlene is using drugs to make you lose your memory, I will use drugs to give you your memory back." Paulina explained.

"Can I?" Marcos was a little incredulous.

"Of course it's possible. You have to have faith in your subordinates."

Marcos smiled bitterly, "But I don't remember them."

Paulina thought for a moment and said, "I'll take you to see them this afternoon. They will be especially happy to see you."

Just as Paulina had said, Almeida and Sener were dumbfounded when they saw their prince.

It took them a while to recover.

The two immediately bowed their heads in respect and said in unison, "Prince."
