Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1324: Tasting the Medicine
Their prince had finally returned!
Almeida and Sener were inwardly thrilled.
"You have worked hard." Marcos said in a light tone.
Almeida and Sener shook their heads hastily, "We haven't worked hard, we haven't worked at all."
From Alfredo, to Alvaro, to them, everyone said it wasn't hard work.
Marcos suddenly felt envious of his pre-amnesia self.
There were so many people who were willing to take things on for him in his absence.
"Do you have results from your investigation yet?" asked Paulina.
Almeida and Sener looked at each other and replied, "The medicine is almost ready, it should take another two days." At that, Paulina smiled, "Really?"
"Yes. Just..."
Seeing Almeida's hesitation, Paulina's heart lifted and she was quick to ask, "What's wrong, is there a problem?"
"The problem is that if the drug hasn't been clinically tested, you don't know what side effects it might have."
Almeida was concerned that, should the drug have too stimulating an effect, it could cause irreversible damage to Marcos' body. Paulina turned her head to look at Marcos and hesitated.
She wanted him to regain his memory as soon as possible, but if it was going to damage his body, she would have to give up. "I want to try." said Marcos.
Paulina was quick to block him, "Marcos!".
He had come back so easily and she really didn't want to see him get hurt somehow again.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Marcos gave her a reassuring smile and looked at Almeida and Sener reassuringly. "Besides, I'm sure the people I've trained will never be bad." His confidence in Almeida and Sener touched their hearts.
"Prince, don't worry, I will make sure you are healthy." solemnly promised Almeida.
Sener replied, "Prince, me too."
Paulina pursed her lips and a fine mist fogged in her eyes.
With their mutual trust, the drug investigation would surely succeed.
...
By the time Paulina and the others arrived home it was already dark.
Mrs. Gloria was preparing dinner for the maids, and as soon as she saw them return, she nonchalantly asked them, "What do you want to eat?" "Mama, whatever I want."
Paulina had just finished her answer when Marcos said matter-of-factly, "Don't you like steamed fish? You can ask them to prepare it for you in the kitchen." At this comment, he froze.
Paulina and Mrs. Gloria were also stunned.
Quickly, Paulina reacted and asked, "Marcos, did you remember something?". Marcos pulled back at the sound of her voice and gently shook his head, "No."
"Then how do you know what kind of food I like to eat?" asked Paulina, puzzled.
"I'm not sure how, it just comes naturally to me." Marcos was equally puzzled.
At that moment, Ms. Gloria walked up and said with a smile, "Looks like Marcos has you pegged right."
Paulina and Marcos looked at each other and both smiled softly.
Perhaps, as his mother had said, he really hadn't forgotten about Paulina.
Marcos narrowed his eyes slightly, revealing a hint of determination; he had to recover his memory as soon as possible.
For the next two days, Marcos would make a comment about Paulina's preferences or something similar that would come out of his mouth without thinking. Each time, Paulina was surprised.
Each time, Paulina was surprised, because each time he did it, it was proof that he hadn't completely forgotten.
...
That day, Almeida arrived at La familia Leoz with the medicine.
He handed the medicine to Paulina: "Paulina, we have developed the medicine, but think carefully if you want to use it."
"Will it have many side effects?" asked Paulina.
"As long as it is a medicine, there will surely be side effects, to what extent, it will have to be tested clinically."
"Give me that." Marcos held out his hand.
Paulina squeezed the box of pills in his hand, her mind divided.
On the one hand, she wanted him to regain his memory quickly, but on the other, she was worried that the side effects of the medication would harm him.
"I told you not to be afraid. I'll be fine." Mark took her hand, broke her fingers little by little, and brought the medicine closer to her.
Paulina watched as he opened the pill box, poured in a pill, tilted his head to the side and brought it to his mouth, swallowing it with an up and down motion of the lump in his throat. Marcos' brow furrowed slightly.
Seeing this, Paulina was quick to ask, "Is something wrong?".
Marcos smiled softly, "Nothing, it's just a little bitter."
Paulina hurried to ask the maid to pour him a glass of water and muttered under her breath, "What kind of person takes medicine by swallowing it dry, it's strange that it's not bitter." Mark heard this and the smile on his lips deepened a few notches, "I'm used to it."
"Drink some water." Paulina reached for the water.
She took a sip, turned her head to Almeida and asked, "Do you only have to take the medicine once?".
Almeida nodded, "Well, only once."
Marcos nodded and said nothing more.
Almeida stared at him and asked cautiously, "Prince, are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
"No."
Almeida frowned, "If you are uncomfortable anywhere, be sure to let Sener and me know in time so we can prepare."
"Mmm."
Before leaving, Almeida called Paulina aside and indicated, "Paulina, you should keep an eye on the prince for the next few days and let me and Sener know as soon as there is any trouble." Paulina nodded, "Yes, I know."
When Almeida left, Paulina returned next to Marcos, her big, clear eyes staring at him.
Marcos couldn't help but laugh, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"I was afraid you had a discomfort I didn't know about." Paulina answered sincerely.
Marcos made a helpless face, "I'm very well, don't worry."
"What if the medicine acts more slowly?" Despite what he said, Paulina felt she couldn't take him lightly.
"I'll talk to you if I don't feel well, I won't force myself to hold back."
Paulina curved her lips into a smile, "I trust you."
In the evening, Bonita returned from her mother's house and was so excited to see Marcos that her eyes turned red.
"Big brother, you don't even know how bad your sister-in-law has had it in your absence these days."
At that, Paulina hurriedly said, "Bonita, stop it, I didn't have a bad time at all."
"Sister-in-law, it's obvious..." Bonita wanted to retort, but seeing that Paulina was shaking her head at her, she could only change her tone sarcastically, "Big brother, it's very good that you're back, your family of four is finally reunited The four of you are finally together."
Marcos smiled and said nothing.
Mrs. Gloria looked at her son and daughter-in-law and said with a smile on her face, "We are also reunited at last."
Her eyes could not help but redden as she said this, "From now on, wherever you go, you have to tell me and your father, okay?".
Alvaro smiled helplessly, "Mom, don't worry, we'll tell you everything."
"You better do what you say, especially Marcos," Mrs. Gloria looked at Marcos.
Marcos nodded solemnly, "I will."
With her assurance, Ms. Gloria just smiled happily and welcomed them into the dining room, "Come on, let's eat."
