Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1356: I'll Never Let Her Go
Hearing Rawlins say that, Ms. Gloria sighed in relief.
She didn't want Marcos and Rawlins to talk alone because she was afraid of what Rawlins might do to Marcos. Now, she was relieved.
"My grandmother wants to see you." Rawlins spoke bluntly.
Marcos' eyes narrowed slightly and his tone was impassive, "No way am I going to see the old lady."
"My grandmother asked me to ask you if you had forgotten your appointment with her."
Marcos remained silent.
"Whatever the pact is, that doesn't count!" Mrs. Gloria was furious, "You've taken advantage of Marcos' memory loss to get him to make some promise, what good can that do?"
"Auntie, whether it counts or not, that came out of Mr. Marcos' mouth." Rawlins looked at Marcos, "Mr. Marcos, don't you think?".
"Heh, now you're trying to force yourself on my son with promises?" Mrs. Gloria gasped and laughed.
Mr. Juan patted her hand and said calmly, "Relax, let Marcos figure it out on his own."
"What do you mean, let Marcos figure it out?" The more Mrs. Gloria thought about it, the angrier she became.
The Bartram family, how shameless!
Mr. Juan looked at Marcos and said, "I mean Marcos knows what he has to do."
At that moment, Marcos spoke in a deep, leisurely voice: "If Sr. Juan asks me to go back to the Bartram family on the grounds that Earlene saved my life, please tell Sr. Juan to tell her to forget about it. I can pay any other way, but abandoning my wife and children, no way."
He paused, his voice as icy as ever, "And by the way, please also tell Earlene that if she hurts my wife and children again, I won't let her go."
Rawlins was surprised, knowing he wasn't just talking for the sake of talking.
"That... I understand. I'm sorry to have bothered you so much today. I'll say goodbye." Rawlins knew that continuing to harp on it would serve no purpose, except to anger The Leoz Family. With that, he turned and left.
Mrs. Gloria was still sulking, "Will he be back?"
She really didn't want to see any of the Bartram family again.
"Ma, don't worry, I won't go back to the Bartram family." Marcos said.
He knew what his mother was worried about before she told him so he wouldn't be on edge all the time.
...
Paulina had just woken up from her nap when Marcos returned to her room, catching the coldness that was quickly building up in her expression, and approached him barefoot, "What's wrong?" "Why are you asking that all of a sudden?"
Marcos lost his smile.
Paulina tilted her head to look at his expression again and murmured, "It just seems like you're hiding something from me."
Mark smiled and took her hand in his, pulling her to the edge of the bed and sitting up.
"Rawlins came to the house earlier."
Paulina jumped to her feet at that, "What did you say?"
Mark took her by the hand and said softly, "You don't have to get excited, he's gone."
"No, what's he doing here?". Paulina sat back, thought for a moment and said in a few words, "He didn't come to take you back to the Bartram family, did he?".
Mark nodded slightly.
A wave of anger erupted and Paulina couldn't help but say, "Where does she get the courage to take you back to the Bartram family, Earlene is crazy, she doesn't know any better?" "I'm afraid the only sober person in the Bartram family right now is the Rawlins."
At that, Paulina also calmed down, "You're right, only Rawlins is sane, otherwise he wouldn't have helped me in the first place."
Without Rawlins' help, she would not have been able to join the Bartram family as a maid, and she would not have been able to get close to Mark.
And it was because of his help that she broke off the wedding.
It's just that now Earlene is amazing and there's no telling whether Rawlins will go along with her or stop her.
"Still, he's always been a Bartram family man."
Marcos' words said it all.
Even if his own sister was wrong, Rawlins would still help Earlene.
Today was a case in point.
...
It was less than a day's round trip to and from J-town.
Rawlins got out of the car and planted himself in front of the Bartram family villa with a headache.
Earlene was probably going to make a big fuss if he didn't bring anyone this time.
With a long sigh at the thought, he picked up his feet and walked into the house.
Seeing her return, the butler whispered, "Prince, the old lady and the young lady are upstairs."
At that moment, Rawlins looked up to the second floor; there was no escaping what had to be faced.
He climbed the stairs and went straight to the old woman's room.
Earlene was there.
At the sight of him, Earlene's face lit up with joy and she asked hurriedly, "Where's Mark?"
Rawlins looked at her and did not answer her, but walked over to the old woman, "Grandma, Mr. Marcos doesn't want to come back with me."
Hearing this, Earlene's face instantly sank and she asked in a stern voice, "So you've come back alone?"
Rawlins looked at her and asked instead of answering, "Or what?"
"Wouldn't you have tied him up if he didn't want to?".
At that Rawlins nodded in exasperation and continued to ask rhetorically, "That's The Leoz Family, do you think I'd get out of The Leoz Family alive if I did that?" "I don't care if you get out of The Leoz Family alive, I just want Marcos!".
Even though he knew she didn't care if he lived or died, it was still chilling to hear.
He chuckled to himself, "You don't care that much about me?"
"Okay, let's not talk about it." He looked at Rawlins and asked, "What's the matter, didn't you say it was me who wanted to see him?"
"He did say it. But he said..." Rawlins paused, "that I'd pay Earlene to save his life any way I could, but least of all to make him leave his wife and kids."
The old woman wrinkled her brow, "Did he really say that?"
"Well."
She turned her head and looked worriedly at Earlene.
Only to see Earlene sink her face and ask between clenched teeth, "How can he be so heartless and cruel?"
Rawlins frowned at her look of not seeing the yellow river and continued, "He also said that if you keep hurting his wife and children ... he will never let you go."
