Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1373: You're really pathetic.
The housekeeper couldn't help but frown, but finally said nothing.
"When Auntie comes back, ask her to call me."
Throwing out these words, Elva turned around and set off.
Stepping out of the courtyard, Elva stopped and turned her head to look at the old Khan family home in the sunlight, her eyes slowly narrowed. She was going to be the lady of the house!
The thought was firmly in her mind before she got into her car and drove away.
...
Edgar received a call from his mother asking him to take Edwina on a trip to City J. He thought he had misheard.
He thought he had misheard, "Mom, what did you say?"
"I said take the time to take Edwina to J-town to meet the people of The Leoz Family."
So she hadn't misheard.
Edgar was a little pleased, but wondered, "Mom, why do you want me to take Edwina there for a good reason, do you accept her completely?" "What else?" asked Dulce in turn.
Edgar laughed softly, "I'm happy."
There was a few seconds of silence before he spoke again, "Thank you, Mom."
"If you really want to thank me, hurry up and let me have my grandchildren."
Ahem!
Edgar was drinking his water and almost choked on it, saying helplessly, "Mom, are you in such a hurry? Besides, Edwina and I haven't even gotten that far yet." Dulce didn't expect him to be so sincere and couldn't help but laugh, "Brat, Mom doesn't care how far you go, I just want to have grandchildren."
"I'll talk it over with Edwina then." Edgar joked back.
"You guys see when you're coming and call me ahead of time."
"Okay."
Edgar hung up the phone, the corners of his mouth twisting at the thought of what his mother had said. Hopefully, soon it would be what his mother wished for and he would be able to hug his grandchildren.
He sent a message to Edwina asking her to pack her things and that he was ready to take her and Bonnie. When he received the message, Edwina was sitting in the coffee and across from her was Elva.
The place was a little quiet, with only the light music slowly running through the air.
Edwina took out her cell phone and looked at it. When she saw that it was Edgar's, her eyes instantly softened. Elva's eyes narrowed slightly, "It's Edgar, isn't it?".
The nonchalant tone was mixed with a hint of questioning.
Edwina raised her head, her nonchalant gaze resting on his face as she calmly said, "What do you care who it is." "Edwina!"
Elva slapped her palm on the table, emitting a sound that drew a sidelong glance from the rest of the store.
Edwina's face remained unperturbed, "You don't need to call me so loudly, I can hear you."
"You!"
Elva was about to get angry when she saw someone watching them out of the corner of her eye, so she suppressed her anger, forced a smile and said through gritted teeth, "Edwina, don't be so cocky!" "I'm cocky?" Edwina raised her eyebrows, "Mistress Elva thinks too much, how dare I be snooty in front of you?"
Elva heard the sarcasm in her words and her face sank, her hateful gaze fixed on her, "I'm telling you, Edwina, Edgar is only with you for fun, do you think anything can happen with him?"
Edwina's face changed for a moment, the corners of her mouth curved into a slight curve, her tone still managing to be calm, "I don't know if we'll ever work out, but at least we're together now." Mistress Elva seems pretty pathetic compared to this, I guess."
"Edwina!" Elva couldn't contain herself and let out an exclamation, pointing a finger at her nose and cursing, "Bitch! Would Edgar have broken off the engagement with me if you hadn't sabotaged it?"
Edwina's eyes were downcast, her expression weak, and not a ripple rose at his words.
"I'm warning you, you'd better leave Edgar on your own, or I'll never let you go."
Elva warned him with a raised chin and a posture of superiority.
Edwina stood up in turn, her clear gaze settled on his face, the corners of her lips curved, "Mistress Elva, even if I leave Edgar, he won't fall in love with you."
His words hit Elva right where it hurt and she immediately shouted angrily, "Edwina, be quiet!"
Edwina didn't shut up, but looked at her with a hint of pity, "You're really pathetic."
Knowing full well that it is impossible for Edgar to love her, she was still holding on, even squirming.
"Edwina, don't look at me with that face! I'm the golden girl of the Boone family, you don't get to pity someone who's nothing!"
With that, Elva grabbed her bag and stormed off angrily.
Watching her leave, Edwina breathed a long sigh of relief, but the next moment she felt a little more worried.
There was no way Elva was going to let go.
There was no telling what else she could do.
...
As soon as he finished working, Edgar went straight to Edwina.
Edwina saw that he was in a good mood, so she didn't tell him anything about Elva coming to see her, so as not to spoil his fun.
"You know what? When I got the call from my mother today, my whole body was in shock."
Edgar recreated the expression on his face when he got the call, amusing both Edwina and Bonnie.
Edwina put the glass in his hand and laughed, "Take a sip of water first and then take your time."
Edgar took a sip of water and looked deep into Edwina's eyes. "My mother and the others are okay with us being together now, and ...."
He paused, "My mother wants to have her grandchildren soon."
Hearing this, Edwina blushed and glared at him, "What are you talking about?"
Edgar looked innocent: "That's what my mother said, not what I meant."
"Auntie said it, and you're very relieved about it." Edwina gave him an uncomfortable look.
Edgar nodded solemnly, "Of course I'm relieved."
"You!" Edwina felt helpless and increasingly embarrassed.
"Edwina, I mean it." Edgar became very serious. "This time my mother asked me to come to J-town to introduce you to the people of The Leoz Family, and to indirectly recognize you as her future daughter-in-law." Daughter-in-law?
Edwina frowned slightly and clasped her hands together.
She suddenly had a surreal feeling.
How long it had been since her mother had taken Bonnie away to threaten her.
The change in attitude was quick enough to make her feel surreal, as well as uncomfortable.
"When we get back from J-town, let's check in sometime."
Edwina looked up and met his serious eyes, there was always a worry in her mind that she couldn't erase, she just said, "Let's talk about it."
Edgar's frown closed, "Are you trying to avoid it again?".
"No, I just think it's too soon." Edwina pursed her lips, "I want to wait until our relationship is more stable before we get married."
"Don't you trust me?" Edgar's brow furrowed more.
He was so close to ripping out his heart and putting it in front of her, what was he so afraid of?
