Love Comes To Me
Chapter 140: She's not as good as Reeva Lawson

After leaving the Lawson family, Matriarch Godbold went home in a huff.

Upon arriving home, Fletcher Rogers looked at a displeased Matriarch Godbold on the sofa and asked, "What's going on? Didn't you go to the Lawson family?"

"Yeah! Then we heard that our son, yesterday, left after Eloise Thompson at the party, leaving the Reeva people behind straight away, and because of that, Reeva is all sick and didn't go to work today." At that, Fletcher Rogers frowned slightly.

"And this?"

"It's hard for me to lie to you! This Eloise Thompson, who promised me before that she would stop hanging out with Hector and Solomon, is now going back on her word and pestering Hector." Fletcher Rogers heard the crux of it and spoke up to inquire, "You went to people before?"

Matriarch Godbold's visit to Eloise Thompson was something that almost no one knew about, and now that it was, she didn't hide it any longer.

"Yes! Our son wouldn't leave her either, so I had to go to Eloise Thompson to get her to stay away from Hector and Solomon, who promised well at first but never thought to pester Hector over and over again."

Fletcher Rogers frowned slightly, not expecting Matriarch Godbold to go to Eloise Thompson and say this. He did not approve of this approach in his heart, but Eloise Thompson's character was questionable when he went back on his word. After thinking about it, Fletcher Rogers spoke up, "Call Hector back for dinner tonight!"

It seems they need to discuss the matter of Hector Rogers' engagement.

Matriarch Godbold was naturally agreeable and instructed the butler to make the call.

...

Hector Rogers had a lot of work on his hands but didn't refuse to come home when he got the call. After all, his mother's words had always been a thorn in Eloise Thompson's side and it was time to talk to them. Later that evening Hector Rogers returned home with Solomon, who had just finished school, and was followed by Rupert Rogers.

As soon as he entered the house, Rupert Rogers said, "Mum, Mum, I'm your youngest son, am I happy to be back?"

Solomon also spoke sweetly and called out, "Grandma!"

Matriarch Godbold took Solomon in his arms and glanced faintly at Rupert Rogers, "You weren't asked to come back, what are you doing back?"

Rupert Rogers: "..."

With those disgusting words, Rupert Rogers just felt like he had been hurt 10, 000 points inside, was this still his real mother? They hadn't seen each other for weeks...

A few people were sitting on the living room and were about to start dinner when Fletcher Rogers spoke up, "Hector, come into the study, Dad wants to talk to you."

Hector Rogers nodded and followed Fletcher Rogers upstairs, followed by Matriarch Godbold.

Rupert Rogers saw this and sensed that something was wrong. He could understand if we talked about work, but with his mother following him up there, it was definitely not as simple as talking about work. After all, he was his own son, and from the moment he entered he sensed that something was wrong with Matriarch Godbold, and even Solomon noticed it.

"Little Uncle, what is Grandpa going to say to Dad? Why won't you let us hear it?" Rupert Rogers was also curious, and right away, he put down Solomon.

"Baby, you sit in the living room and wait! Little Uncle will be down in a minute."

Having said that, Rupert Rogers immediately proceeded to the next door of the study.

...

In the study, Matriarch Godbold said, "I've been to the Lawson family today. I've discussed with your Auntie Sue that you and Reeva are a good match. If you don't want to get married, you can get engaged first, your father can help with the company, and with Rupert around, I'll take care of the reception, you just have to attend."

"Yes Hector, you're not too young and now that you have a successful career, you're just short of the marriage aspect, and it's good for us to be with Reeva and have someone to look after you and keep you company." Hector Rogers frowned slightly, Matriarch Godbold and Fletcher Rogers were tough, but so was his attitude.

"Dad, Mum, I've made myself clear before that I'm not going to be with Reeva Lawson, the condition of taking over the company in the first place was for you not to interfere with my engagement and I respect that, but I'd also like you to stay out of it."

After a pause, Hector Rogers looked at his mother and spoke again, "Especially running off to something like Eloise Thompson, Mom, I hope you don't do that again either."

Hearing this, Matriarch Godbold blushed a little; she had not realised that Hector Rogers already knew about her visit to Eloise Thompson.

"Hector, what's so great about that woman that you have to be so protective of her, she's not as good as the Lawson family in every way, not to mention, she was thrown out of her home in the first place, she must have done something shameful to be treated so harshly by her family."

Matriarch Godbold was a bit angry, so naturally his words were a bit impulsive.

"As the Gardner family said at Solomon's birthday party, this woman broke off her engagement to their son because of her misbehaviour, Hector, such a woman is not really suitable to marry into our Rogers family, on the contrary, the Lawson family is quite good. Reeva also knows about career matters and can help you."

At that, Hector Rogers' face sank.

"Mum, when has the Rogers family ever had to rely on a family to stay in business?"

"It's not just about the right family, it's about her Eloise Thompson's character, you're not fit to be with her, Hector, just listen to Mum for once and cut ties with Eloise Thompson!"

"No way." Hector Rogers spoke decisively.

How is it possible to ask him to cut ties with Eloise Thompson?

"You..." Matriarch Godbold was furious to see how stubborn Hector Rogers was being, and his face turned blue.

Seeing that they were about to argue, Fletcher Rogers spoke up and interrupted the two.

"Hector, we're not trying to stand in your way or anything, but your mother has your best interests at heart, and you're disobeying her by acting like this."

Hector Rogers lowered his eyes and pursed his lips, "Mom, I'm sorry, I know you're doing this for my own good, but I hope you can understand and stop pushing me, I want to be able to choose my own marriage." With those words, Hector Rogers left the study with an expressionless face.

...

Rupert Rogers also came out of the next room, where he had heard the conversation in full.

No wonder! Sister-in-law had been avoiding her own brother before, so it was because her mother had gone looking for her!

Damn it, that's not good enough! Rupert Rogers walked into the study, where Matriarch Godbold was sitting in a chair with a scowl on his face, still angry by the look of it.

"Mom, take it easy, my brother didn't do it on purpose, you guys don't know his temper, Reeva is very nice, but if he liked it, he would have liked it back then, you guys are forcing a woman he didn't like for so many years to marry him, isn't this forcing him?"

"But he can't choose a woman like that, can he? There are so many women under this sky, he can choose someone else even if he doesn't like Reeva! But ..."
