Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1463: Declaring Sovereignty.
Paulina mused, "Blythe is here right now, I think she's looking for you to talk about a collaboration."
Marcos looked at her and said nothing.
Paulina pursed her lips and asked pointedly, "Would you agree to work with her?"
"What do you think?"
"What I think is that after this, you're more likely to work with Blythe."
The situation the Leoz Group now found itself in really needed a strong partner, one that would appease the other partner companies.
Marcos laughed lightly: "Indeed. Still, I would think it over and not accept a partnership lightly."
"I think Blythe is a bit of a mystery and we need to be cautious and then go back to being cautious." Paulina really couldn't get a liking for Blythe.
She always had the feeling that Blythe was too shady and gave people a hairy feeling deep down in her heart.
"Fine."
Mark got up and walked over to her, took her hand in his and asked softly, "Are you with me?"
"May I?" Paulina was afraid to interfere with their talk.
Marcos smiled, "Of course you can. You are my secretary."
"Then I respectfully submit."
Actually, she hadn't wanted him to be alone with Blythe in the first place, but she didn't want to start the conversation by saying she would accompany him. She was afraid he would think she was being jealous.
"Mr. Blythe, our president will be right with you." The secretary set the coffee down on the table and smiled politely at Blythe.
With that, she turned and walked out.
Blythe gently stirred the coffee in her cup, her face stoic, unable to say what was on her mind at the moment.
After a while, she heard the door open, but did not turn around, merely stirring her coffee.
As soon as the door opened, Paulina saw the slender figure with her back to them and subconsciously grabbed Mark's hand.
Marcos gave her a sidelong glance and led her towards him.
"Mr. Marcos, what a surprise, showing up so early today."
At the sound of approaching footsteps, Blythe looked up, a smile on her face.
But the curve of her lips tightened instantly at the sight of Paulina.
Blythe raised an eyebrow, "I can't believe Mr. Marcos and Mrs. Leoz are so close, they can't even tear themselves away from talking business."
Her gaze wandered deliberately over their intertwined hands.
I don't know if it was his own fault, but there was a tartness and slight sarcasm in his words.
Paulina clenched her thoughts without moving, and looked at Mark with mock disgust, "It's all your fault, you had to keep me company, and now the guests are laughing at you."
She looked like she was complaining, but in reality she was declaring her sovereignty.
This Blythe was up to no good, and she trusted her sixth sense.
Blythe slyly clenched the spoon in her hand and returned the smile to her face, "Mrs. Leoz, you are very pleased."
Paulina smiled back, "Thank you."
Mark didn't know what he was thinking, a slight smile tugged at the corners of his mouth and a loving look in his eyes.
Blythe looked at her and the hatred pent up in her heart stirred. She leaned back in her chair and said, "Mr. Marcos, I came to talk to you today about the possibility of working together and I hope we can talk about it." Marcos sat down across from her and thought for a moment before saying, "It's not impossible to work together, but I have one condition."
"Go ahead." As long as the conditions were not excessive and he was willing to work with JR, of course she would agree to all of them.
"The contract treaty, I'll set it." Marcos said.
"I thought you were going to make some exaggerated offer." Blythe laughed out loud.
In fact, when Marcos laid out the terms, it was obvious to see his sigh of relief.
"Is that acceptable?" asked Marcos.
Blythe nodded, "Of course. You can set the terms of the contract however you want, I respect that."
"Fine then." Marcos stood up, "I'll have my assistant draw up the contract and bring it to you for review."
"If you agree, we'll work together. If not, forget it."
Blythe stood up and looked him straight in the deep, dark eyes, her red lips curved, "I hope Mr. Marcos doesn't set any complicated conditions, otherwise I'm afraid I won't be able to agree." "Don't worry about that."
Marcos would take the opportunity to make things difficult, but the terms would be the normal ones, only more favorable to the Leoz Group.
"Then it's settled." Blythe looked at Paulina beside her and held out her right hand, "Mrs. Leoz, I expect you to be there when the contract is signed."
Paulina took her hand, a calm and appropriate smile on her pretty little face, "I am Mr. Marcos' secretary, of course I will be there."
The two shook hands.
The four eyes met.
Quickly, Blythe let go of his hand and said to Marcos, "I'll be off then, waiting for your good news."
After Blythe left, Paulina was still standing in the same spot, one thin eyebrow frowning slightly.
"Is something wrong?" asked Marcos with concern.
Paulina turned her head, met his worried eyes and pursed her lips, "Nothing."
"Let's go back to the office."
Marcos took her by the hand and walked out, not noticing the smile on his lips fading.
Paulina thought about how she had just shaken Blythe's hand, she thought she saw a hint of sinisterness in Blythe's eyes.
From the first time she had met Blythe until today, she had had a bad feeling about her.
He hoped Marcos wouldn't work with her if he could help it.
As soon as they returned to the office, Alfredo immediately followed.
"Prince, have you agreed to work with JR?" asked Alfredo.
"No." Marcos denied.
Alfredo was instantly relieved, "That's good."
"Didn't you say you were going to have your assistant draw up the contract?" Suddenly, Paulina couldn't read Marcos.
A moment ago, in the conference room, she had clearly promised this Blythe that she would draft the contract, why was she now saying no?
"Prince, what's going on?" Alfredo looked at Paulina and then at Marcos.
Marcos raised an eyebrow, "I did say so. But do I have to?"
Paulina frowned, "You mean you were lying to Blythe?"
"It's not really a lie, I'm just buying time." Marcos goes behind his desk and sits down, continuing, "With the Leoz Group the way it is, quite a few companies are trying to get out of their contracts and don't want to work with the Leoz Group. And JR is doing the opposite and showing up, there is something fishy about that."
Paulina thought about it and said, "That Blythe doesn't mean well, I thought you were really going to work with her, I was very worried."
That said, Paulina was worried again, "What if she replaces out you're lying to her?"
"Buying time." Marcos said, "Since she is bent on working with the Leoz Group, I think she can afford to wait even if it takes longer."
