Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1494: You're mean to me!
Mrs. Gloria lost her smile, "It's okay, mommy trusts you."
"Thanks mom." Paulina smiled at her Sweety.
"Eat the porridge now."
Mrs. Gloria handed her the bowl and spoon.
As Paulina ate her porridge, Mrs. Gloria took Mark outside.
"Paulina cannot be allowed to go back to work in the office under these conditions." Mrs. Gloria looked at Marcos with a serious expression.
Marcos nodded, "Mom, I know."
"It's not a matter of whether you know or not, it's a matter of you convincing Paulina to give up the idea of going to work."
Having been Paulina's mother-in-law and daughter-in-law for so many years, Mrs. Gloria still knew her well.
Stubborn and persistent.
That would have been an advantage in any other matter.
But in a situation like today's, it was properly a disadvantage.
Marcos knew what his mother was worried about, "Don't worry, Mom, I'll convince her."
"That's fine." Mrs. Gloria sighed heavily, "I don't know what's wrong, you two keep having ups and downs, either something is wrong with you or something is wrong with Paulina, it's very strange." "Mom, I'm sorry for worrying you." Marcos looked contrite.
Mrs. Gloria shook her head, "No need to apologize. Mom should be worried about you guys. Go inside before Paulina gets distressed about not seeing anyone."
Seeing Mark enter the room, Ms. Gloria sighed again and muttered to herself, "When on earth will the two of them have peace?"
At that moment, Sr. Juan, who had gone to see the doctor about the situation, returned just in time to hear her sigh and couldn't help but frown, "Stop sighing, it's not good for Paulina to hear you."
"Juan, what do you say we don't let Marcos and the others go abroad, they have already had a good time abroad and once back home they are all out of sorts all the time, maybe this is not the right place for them." Ms. Gloria said. "Don't be ridiculous, how can this not be the place for them." Mr. Juan put his arm around her shoulders and continued to reassure her, "They'll be fine."
Ms. Gloria sighed again, "I hope so."
Back in the living room, Marcos took a tissue and wiped the corner of Paulina's mouth, saying softly, "Paulina, I'll leave all the work to Alfredo, just stay in the hospital and recover for a while." When Paulina heard this, her fine eyebrows furrowed, "Why?".
"You're in no condition to work right now."
"I'm fine." Paulina put the bowl on the bedside table and spread her arms, "See how I'm in no condition to work right now when there's nothing wrong with me at all?" "Paulina ..."
Without waiting for Marcos to explain himself, Ms. Gloria's voice came.
"Paulina, listen to Marcos and don't go to work." Mrs. Gloria approached the hospital bed and looked at Paulina with anguish, "Look at your face, how can you keep going to work if you look so bad?" "Mom, it's only temporary. My fever is down and I've taken my medication, I'm doing great."
Paulina was about to jump out of bed and do a few bounces to show that her body was really fine.
"It's not just because you say you're fine. You're already weak and you need to recover for a while. Mom will give you a good tonic and you can go back to work when you're almost recovered."
Mrs. Gloria's persuasion did not make Paulina agree.
She merely shook her head in a particularly firm manner, "No, I have to go to work. I'm almost done with the work at hand, I only have two more days to go and I'll be ready."
"Paulina," even though she had guessed that would be her attitude, Ms. Gloria still didn't know what to do.
"Are you really going to work?" Marcos asked in a low voice, looking at her with a look devoid of tenderness and with hidden anger leaping under his eyes.
Paulina didn't notice and continued to insist, "Yes, I'm going."
At her response, Marcos became furious and his voice became stern: "Paulina, when are you going to be able to appreciate your own body? The company has so many employees, you don't have to do this planning! The most important thing you should do now is to take care of your body."
Paulina gaped as she stared at Marcos, who had suddenly lost his temper.
After a moment, he deflated his mouth and said accusingly, "You're mean to me!".
He had never been gentle in front of her and had never lost his temper, and this time, he really scared Paulina.
Seeing her red eyes, Mark's anger was instantly extinguished.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and sighed, "Paulina, what the hell do I have to do to get you to listen to me?" Paulina bit her lip and made no sound.
It was then that she realized she had been a bit whimsical.
She looked at Mr. Juan and Mrs. Gloria, who were looking at her with worried faces.
Looking back at Marcos, he looked helpless, but he was actually angry inside.
He was only suppressing all his anger for her sake.
Paulina bowed her head.
A stony silence fell over the room.
Seeing that the mood was not right, Sr. Juan hurried to speak, "Well, it's not that Paulina has to go to work, she just doesn't think it's good to leave half of her work to someone else, she just wants to finish it." Hearing Sister John speak for herself, Paulina felt that she had been too willful.
So she raised her head and looked at Mark firmly, "I'm not going to work."
At that, Mark was taken aback for a moment, but quickly replied, "Really?"
Paulina laughed softly, "Of course it's true. I'm afraid that if I go to work, you'll be sulking and smothering people all the time. Besides, I didn't want you, Mom and Dad to worry so much." Mark gave a slight smile and sighed in relief.
Mr. Juan and Mrs. Gloria were also relieved.
...
When Agustina learned that Paulina was sick in the hospital, she immediately booked a flight back to J-town.
Paulina looked surprised, "Mama, what are you doing here?"
"Girl, have you been well?" Agustina rushed over and sat on the edge of the bed, reaching up to touch her face and asking urgently.
"Mama, I'm fine." Paulina pulled her hand down and looked up at her with a soft, slight smile.
Agustina let out a long sigh of relief, "You don't know how my heart jumped into my throat when I got the call. You gave me quite a scare, girl."
"Mom, I'm sorry." Paulina hugged her mother and rested her head on her shoulder.
Agustina patted her hand and said softly, "Silly girl, why are you apologizing to your mother?"
Paulina leaned quietly on her shoulder for a moment, and suddenly she thought of something, sat up straight and asked, "Mom, you came to see me, and Grandpa, does Grandpa know?" She didn't want to alert her grandfather about her.
Grandpa had just woken up and was recovering, and she didn't want the old man to worry.
"Your grandfather has special people taking care of him, he'll be fine." Agustina smiled, "Don't worry, I didn't tell him about you."
Paulina breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."
"Girl, if you're afraid we're going to worry, take care of yourself, okay?". Agustina loosened her face and looked at her seriously. Paulina replied good-naturedly, "Got it."
Then, leaning on her shoulder, the room fell silent again.
