Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1509: It's Just a Scam
Lisa couldn't help but feel excited when he agreed.
She pressed her palms together and hesitated before cautiously asking, "How about we remarry, then?"
"Of course."
Bergerian answered so quickly that Lisa's hands shook with excitement, "Really, really?"
"Lisa, go back to your country and when I'm done with my business, I'll remarry you."
"I don't want to!" Lisa immediately refused, "I want you to come back with me and remarry! If you can't come back now, I can wait for you." Bergerian looked at her, his eyes were too deep to see what she was thinking at that moment.
Just when Lisa thought he was going to say no, he slowly opened his mouth, "Yes."
Lisa's heart finally fell into place and a sincere smile appeared on her face.
Coming to J-Town was truly the best decision she had ever made in her life.
After Bergerian agreed to remarry, she stopped concentrating on dealing with Paulina and instead focused all her heart and soul on Bergerian.
She was looking forward to the day when she would return home and remarry, but to her surprise Bergerian would not touch her.
This made her angry, but there was nothing she could do about it.
Bergerian was busy at work and had to go out every day, and several times he offered to accompany her but was turned down.
At first she didn't think anything of it, until one of her men came over and filled her in on Bergerian's schedule for the last few days and she realized something was wrong. "You say he goes to the cafe near the Leoz Group every day?". Lisa's tone was one of disbelief.
The handlers nodded, "Yes."
Lisa's brow furrowed, "What does he go there for?".
"I'm not sure, and he leaves as soon as it's closing time."
Lisa narrowed her eyes, "You don't want to go see that bitch Paulina, do you?".
She tried to trust Bergerian, but how could she trust him when the facts were right under her nose?
The next day, as Bergerian was leaving the house, Lisa picked up her displeasure and smiled, "I'll go with you."
"No need."
Bergerian's refusal was as clean as before.
A flash of melancholy crossed Lisa's eyes, but her face remained smiling, "Why don't you always let me come with you, are you holding out on me?" "No." Bergerian approached her, "Stay at the hotel and wait for me, I'll soon finish my work so we can go home and get married again."
Lisa smiled inwardly, he knew she was desperate to get married again, that's why he was talking about it.
"Then I'll wait for you at the hotel."
"That's fine." Bergerian didn't notice the coldness under her eyes, and turned to walk out the door after kissing her hair.
As soon as he turned around, his expression was instantly cold, his eyes as dark as ink.
Behind him, Lisa's face sank as well and she stared coldly at the closed door.
From the beginning, he had lied to her.
Playing her like a fool, making her believe he really wanted to remarry her.
Now it seemed no more than a stopgap measure.
To deflect his hatred of Paulina.
Bergerian, you really are a hard-hearted man.
At night, Bergerian is still late, and Lisa is drowsy when she hears someone talking.
She rolled over and tried to go back to sleep, but sat up creepily and turned her head to look at the door, which had been left open.
He cautiously got out of bed and approached it.
Through the crack he saw Bergerian and his assistant Carl outside.
With a joyful smile on his face, he was about to open the door and step out when Carl's voice was heard.
"Sir, Mrs. Paulina is safe, Marcos has arranged a number of bodyguards to protect her, so you don't have to worry too much."
At the word "Mrs. Paulina", Lisa immediately withdrew her hand, held her breath and listened quietly to the conversation going on outside.
"For the moment, yes, but there will be careless moments." Bergerian said, "So, you arrange for some people to covertly protect her."
"Yes."
Carl took his orders and was about to leave when he suddenly paused as if thinking of something and turned to Bergerian, "Sir, Ms. Lisa has been waiting for you, when will she be back?" "Naturally, I will return when I am sure she is really safe."
Carl nodded and said nothing more, striding away.
The room fell silent.
Lisa had her back to the wall, sarcasm written all over her face.
Although he had guessed it, hearing it said to himself was a different feeling.
It hurt a little more genuinely.
So he really cared about Paulina in silence.
He hadn't given up on Paulina.
It had been a charade from the beginning.
Lisa closed her eyes, her hands dropped to her sides and slowly clenched.
The words Bergerian had said that day still echoed in her ears, the way he had acted so well that she had truly believed she was loved.
He had agreed to remarry her simply to protect Paulina!
The more Lisa thought about it, the angrier she became, her whole face contorting and grimacing with too much rage.
She had trusted him so much, how could she stand for him to lie to her?
A surge of anger, mixed with sadness, came over her.
At that moment, Lisa wanted to go out and confront him, but she restrained herself.
If he dared to lie to her, he would have to suffer the consequences of his deception.
She would never let Paulina get away with it!
Footsteps sounded in her ears and she hurried back to bed, pretending to be asleep.
Bergerian pushed open the door and glanced out before closing it behind him.
Lisa's hands clutched at the sheets and she closed her eyes, tears sliding down her face without argument.
In the end, he still meant nothing to her.
The next day, after Bergerian left, Lisa called Juanetta first and asked her to meet her at the cafe.
Juanetta had been placed by her at the daycare to get closer to Sweety.
When she first arrived in J-town, she did think about taking care of the dog Paulina herself.
But Mark had protected Paulina so well that she couldn't replace the opportunity to do anything about it.
Since there was no way to do it with that dog, she would do it with her son.
Surely she would be just as miserable.
But these days, because of Bergerian's change of attitude, she had hardly thought about it, she had almost forgotten that this person existed. But now it was clear that he could not disappear.
At two o'clock in the afternoon, in an elegant coffee, Juanetta arrives for her appointment.
Lisa sits in a corner, her face distant.
Juanetta greets her respectfully: "Mrs. Lisa".
Lisa directs her to sit down and calls the waiter to order a coffee.
She then takes a sip and asks, "How are things at the daycare?".
Juanetta seems hesitant, not knowing what to answer.
When Lisa sees that she's quiet, she frowns, "Why don't you answer when I ask you something?"
Her voice was harsh and questioning.
Juanetta made an uneasy face and replied, "I've been fired ...."
"What did you say?"
Lisa's eyes sunk and her tone was extremely unpleasant.
