Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1530: Doing Everything to Stop It
As soon as Lisa returned to Italy, Bergerian set about setting up her own business in J-town with no distractions. Mark was not slow to receive the news.
"Prince, according to the information I have received from me, Bergerian plans to develop in J-City ..."
Alfredo informed Marcos in one piece.
Marcos frowned, "One day he stays in J-City, one more day Paulina is in danger."
"So what do you mean prince ..."
"Do everything you can to stop him."
Alfredo bowed his head, "I know what needs to be done."
"Brother, what exactly does Bergerian mean, why does he suddenly want to develop a career in the country?" Alvaro couldn't help but ask suspiciously when Alfredo had left. Marcos gave him a sidelong glance and said indifferently, "Whatever his intentions, he should not be allowed to remain in J-town."
"That's true." Alvaro nodded, "Although thanks to him your sister-in-law's virus is under control this time, it's not enough to make up for the damage he did to her in the past." "It will never be enough to make up for it."
Even though Marcos had lost his memory, he knew from his family what Paulina had gone through in the past.
So he wouldn't even let Bergerian off easy.
On the other hand, the information Bergerian submitted to set up the company was returned as non-compliant.
Bergerian found it very strange that he had submitted the documents in compliance with national regulations, but how could they be non-compliant?
At that point, Carl was quick to report, "Sir, the other party got cold feet and said they were not going to lease the office building to us."
Bergerian had found an office building and was about to sign a lease, but now he said he would not lease it.
One day the government sent the application back to him and the next the office building reneged on the lease.
What a coincidence!
Bergerian narrowed his eyes and a cold smile curved the corners of his lips: "Marcos."
Carl was startled to hear it, "Sir, are you saying that Marcos is behind this?"
"No one but him is so afraid of me staying in J-town."
Hearing that, Bergerian raised an eyebrow, "But he underestimated my determination. Anyway, as far as Paulina is concerned, I'm staying."
Since his application had been returned, he would submit it under a new identity. As for office space, J-City had plenty, so he could replace himself another one.
...
While Marcos and Bergerian were secretly fighting, Chris and Rawlins had a meeting.
They had been spectators for a while, and had been a bit of a spectator when the Leoz Group had gotten so frantic.
Who knew that it would later backfire on them and the Rawlins would be denounced and their alliance implicated and viciously scorned.
"Do you think Marcos is just getting lucky or is he really? How come they let him reverse it back and forth?" asked Chris in amazement. Every time they thought they could stomp Marcos hard, people had the ability to turn things around.
It really was hell!
At the thought, Chris felt a pang of annoyance and reached up to tug at his tie.
Rawlins sulked, "Maybe it's what they say about not being afraid of a ghost knocking on the door in the middle of the night." Though resigned, he admired Marcos.
Marcos' skill was perhaps not something he and Chris could match.
"Hey! You grow on others and kill your own spirit." Chris was annoyed by what he said.
Rawlins was silent.
Chris was silent for a few seconds as well, then said, "What do we do now?"
Rawlins frowned, "The Leoz Group is harder to deal with now than before."
The public now had a high opinion of the Leoz Group, and if they failed to stand up to them, they would be more than despised.
"No, we'll have to come up with a detailed plan to do that, we can't just do it like that." said Rawlins.
The only way to fight a winning battle was to be prepared in every way.
Chris nodded, "You're right, we should plan for it."
He thought for a moment and said, "There must be another force that is secretly dealing with Marcos during this time, if we can replace it, we might be able to work together." "Heh." Rawlins snorted, dismissive, "Hiding in the shadows is as good as a rat, who knows what awaits him."
"So you're not going to work together?" asked Chris.
"We'll figure out the plan ourselves."
Rawlins didn't answer directly, but his attitude said it all.
Chris nodded, "Okay, I get it."
...
In the last few days, Paulina had stayed home to recuperate, her condition was improving, but after the virus attack, she was still weaker than before.
Mrs. Gloria was afraid she would suffocate at home, so she took her out into the yard every day to water the flowers and pull weeds.
Esteban and Sweety would go to school during the day and come home in the afternoon to spend time with Paulina.
It was a nice life.
This morning, Marcos left early for work and Paulina stayed downstairs eating breakfast with the children.
After breakfast, she took a little one in each hand and sent them outside.
"Mommy, let's finish that puzzle tonight." said Sweety in a milky voice before getting into the car.
Paulina smiled and patted her head, "Okay, we'll do it together tonight."
She stood still and watched the car drive away until it was out of sight, before going back inside and out to the backyard to hang out.
In the afternoon Edgar and Edwina arrived.
Paulina was surprised, "Why did you two come over without saying anything?"
"Didn't I want to surprise you?" Edwina reached over and grabbed her arm.
Paulina lost her smile, "Quite a surprise."
Mrs. Gloria greeted them as they sat down in the parlor and went to order the maids to prepare coffee and water.
Edgar scrutinized Paulina, frowning slightly, "You're still a little pale."
"Is that so?" Paulina touched his cheek and smiled, "Actually, it's much better."
"Mrs. Paulina, how come you didn't even let us know when something so serious happened?" asked Edwina.
If they hadn't seen it on the news, they wouldn't have heard that something so big had happened to the Leoz Group.
"I didn't want them to worry." Paulina took a deep breath, "And it's taken care of."
"What about the virus in your body?" Edgar asked again.
"It's under control for now."
Edwina couldn't help but frown, "Temporarily? Why only temporarily? Can't we get rid of it at once?"
She really couldn't imagine such a horrible virus staying in Madame Paulina's body.
It was like carrying around a ticking time bomb.
