Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 159: Chasing Your Wife Across the Ocean
Rupert Rogers was puzzled when he heard Hector Rogers speak without saying a word: "You don't have to go, I'll do it."
On hearing this, Rupert Rogers was flabbergasted.
"Brother, I can still solve that little problem, I don't need you to do it personally."
His brother had found a conscience and didn't want him to travel from home to abroad too much. Rupert Rogers proved to be overthinking as his assistant pulled him aside and said, "Mr Rupert, Miss Eloise has gone to New York on business." At these words, Rupert Rogers was suddenly enlightened and looked at his brother with a smile.
"Not bad, brother, you're making progress! Chasing your wife across the sea, I'm looking at you!"
Hector Rogers ignored Rupert Rogers and simply instructed his assistant to book the recent domestic flight to the U. S. Reeva Lawson was just about to bring in the documents when she overheard a conversation between several people inside.
She was on her feet, Hector Rogers was going abroad? Or was it to get to Eloise Thompson?
Reeva Lawson's gaze sank and she gritted her teeth as jealousy surged through her, how could he stand by and watch Hector Rogers leave the country at this moment, but he couldn't stop himself.
No, even if she couldn't stop Hector Rogers from leaving the country, she would have to go along and keep an eye on it herself, Reeva Lawson was calculating.
Hector Rogers usually takes his assistant with him when he goes out, so if he gets caught up in something, does that mean he can go along with him?
With this in mind, Reeva Lawson called and instructed the Lawson family's assistant to replace a way to get a Rogers Group project in Linn City into some trouble.
...
Reeva Lawson was reporting to Hector Rogers' office that afternoon when her assistant was tipped off and came to explain the situation. "President, we've just received word that there's a problem with our project in B City ..."
The assistant reported the problem to Hector Rogers, who frowned slightly and said, "Go and deal with it yourself."
"But... wouldn't you have to leave the country alone?" The assistant spoke with some hesitation, the ticket was scheduled for early tomorrow morning, and he couldn't make it back from B City for a while. Hector Rogers didn't care, but Reeva Lawson, who was on the side, said, "Why don't I come with you? I don't have anything important on my hands."
Lest Hector Rogers refuse, Reeva Lawson thoughtfully added, "Just in case there's something I can do for you! And I'm your secretary, aren't I?"
Hector Rogers thought about it, the most important thing on this trip was to get to Eloise Thompson, but it was still important to get the New York side of the project sorted out and it did make it easier to bring someone with him, and in the end he didn't say no to Reeva Lawson.
Reeva Lawson looks pleased to see that this is not a bad time to go abroad. She must replace a way to get along with Hector Rogers and, most importantly, not let that bitch Eloise Thompson seduce his man.
The next day, after packing up, Hector Rogers and Reeva Lawson set off on a flight to New York.
Sitting back in his seat, the corner of Hector Rogers' mouth ticked slightly and wondered what Eloise Thompson's reaction would be to seeing him?
Reeva Lawson was sitting on the edge and she clearly sensed that the man was in a happy mood, was it because she was going to meet Eloise Thompson?
For a moment, Reeva Lawson's eyes flashed a haze, but it was quickly hidden.
She opened her mouth to talk to Hector Rogers about something, but none of the men on the side seemed to be paying much attention to her, and eventually Reeva Lawson didn't say anything else.
...
On Eloise Thompson's side, she went back to the hotel that evening after dinner with Egbert Chumley.
Although it was Eloise Thompson's treat, it was Egbert Chumley who settled the bill, much to Eloise Thompson's embarrassment.
Upon returning to the hotel, Linn Dail came forward with a gossipy face.
"How's it going Eloise, did you have a good meal? Did something happen to you guys? Why are you back so early?"
Eloise Thompson gave Linn Dail a blank look, "It's just dinner, what were you thinking?"
Linn Dail bristled, a slightly disappointed expression on her face.
Eloise Thompson put her bag aside and asked as she changed her shoes, "How did it go, what did SR say?"
Linn Dail sits on the sofa with a hint of helplessness in her voice.
"They said they'd meet tomorrow afternoon, the same cafe as yesterday, but who knows if they'll be playing us again like they did today."
"I don't think so!"
Eloise Thompson chatted with Linn Dail for a while longer, and then the two went to bed.
...
The next afternoon, the other side didn't let them off the hook, but they sent an assistant to pick up the proposal and the person in charge didn't even come to see Eloise Thompson.
Linn Dail spoke up with some displeasure, "Wow, this is too much! Can't they at least come and talk? Don't they even have time for that?"
Eloise Thompson was also a little upset, but there was nothing they could do about it as they had been wronged in the first place.
"Forget it, Eloise, don't feel bad, you've done such a good job, the person in charge of the other party will probably make an appointment to see us later after reading it, you've done all you need to do, don't worry, let's go out for a walk!" Linn Dail feels sorry for Eloise Thompson, she's obviously being slandered by Catherine Greaves because her patience is wearing thin and now Eloise Thompson is here to clean up the mess. Thompson, what is this all about?
Eloise Thompson sighed and reported the matter to Layla Davidson, and without refusing Linn Dail's offer, the two went out for a walk.
The area around Times Square was very busy, and the two of them wandered around for a while and ate some food, and took lots of photos.
Just as she was about to return, Eloise Thompson received a call from Egbert Chumley.
"Hello, Mr Egbert."
Eloise Thompson picked up the phone and spoke.
From across the room came Egbert Chumley's voice, "Eloise, where are you? Have you eaten yet?"
"I just ate with Linn Dail! It'll be on the way back."
"Where is it? I've come to pick you up."
Eloise Thompson was just about to say no when she saw Linn Dail next to her take her hand and look ahead and exclaim, "Look, look, look, Mr Egbert."
Down the street, Egbert Chumley approached in a black suit and with a smile on his face he said, "What a coincidence, I just finished meeting a client nearby." Eloise Thompson smiled, also thinking it was quite a coincidence.
Eventually she and Linn Dail got into Egbert Chumley's car to return to the hotel.
...
The plane arrived in New York and Hector Rogers had found out where Eloise Thompson's hotel was before he arrived and went straight there after getting off the plane.
After the car soon arrived at the hotel and upon getting out, Hector Rogers saw a familiar figure not far away as Eloise Thompson stepped out of the black Maybach and, in the driver's seat, a man stepped down. Hector Rogers narrowed his eyes slightly and recognised the man as Egbert Chumley.
The two men joked and said goodbye.
Hector Rogers' eyes sank slightly at the sight of this scene.
