Love Comes To Me
Chapter 175: I'm afraid it's not going to be a fight, is it?

Over here, Eloise Thompson came home and washed up and went to bed.

The following day, she went to work as normal. These days the company has no major projects to compete for and previous projects are progressing steadily, so Eloise Thompson has plenty of free time in her day. After work that day, she received a call from the hospital.

Once Eloise Thompson rushed to the hospital, she heard from the attending doctor that he intended to treat her mother with a treatment method introduced from the United States, which, if successful, was expected to bring Maryam Khan back to life in no time.

Eloise Thompson was overjoyed at the news.

"Really? Doctor, with this treatment my mother can really wake up as soon as possible?"

The attending doctor nodded, "Yes, Miss Eloise."

Eloise Thompson was so excited that she agreed to use the treatment for her mother, and paid the medical bills, which were a generous bonus from the company for the month.

After talking to the doctor, Eloise Thompson went back to the ward to see Maryam Khan. The thought of her mother waking up made Eloise Thompson happy that all her years of hard work had not been in vain.

"Mum, you must wake up soon, I'll be waiting for you." Eloise Thompson spoke as she held Maryam Khan's hand.

She was sure that she would hold on until her mother woke up.

After spending some time with Maryam Khan on the ward, Eloise Thompson left and had just walked out of the hospital when the mobile phone in her bag rang and it was Egbert Chumley calling.

Eloise Thompson picks up the phone after a pause and Egbert Chumley's voice comes across the line.

"Hey Eloise, I just got back home today and brought you something, are you free? Want to have dinner tonight?"

"Okay, Egbert."

Eloise Thompson didn't say no, after all, she had Egbert Chumley to thank for her help abroad before! Otherwise her planning project wouldn't have gone so well, and besides, she's not doing much herself at the moment. The two made an appointment, which was not too far from the hospital, and Eloise Thompson made her way there.

Arriving at the restaurant, Egbert Chumley was already there waiting, looking like he had not long arrived, and Eloise Thompson walked over.

The two laughed and greeted each other, then called for the waiter to order, and the whole time they were together they were so comfortable that no one mentioned that day again.

While chatting, halfway through dinner, Egbert Chumley took out a bracelet and gave it to Eloise Thompson.

"I saw it when I was meeting a client at the mall earlier and thought it would be a good fit for you, so I bought it."

The bracelet was actually bought by Egbert Chumley a long time ago, carefully selected at the mall, with the intention of giving Linn Dail to Eloise Thompson at dinner, but then Hector Rogers and Reeva Lawson showed up and he made a surprise confession under those circumstances.

Seeing this, Eloise Thompson rushed to speak up, "Egbert, such an expensive gift ..."

The bracelet is beautiful, handpicked by Egbert Chumley at the mall, embellished with a few black stones that glisten in the light.

Eloise Thompson then remembered that Egbert Chumley had said something about bringing something for herself, but to her surprise it was a bracelet, which at first glance was worth a lot of money, so how could she possibly take it! Seeing that Eloise Thompson didn't want to take it, Egbert Chumley said, "It's not expensive and it's just a gift from a friend, you can give it to me later, you can't just stop being friends with me, can you?" "Why, Egbert is more than Egbert, he's a good friend of mine."

"Then take it."

Egbert Chumley had said so, and Eloise Thompson had no choice but to take it.

"Thanks Egbert, it's a beautiful bracelet."

Egbert Chumley smiled, "Just enjoy it, keep eating!"

"Hmm." Eloise Thompson nodded, already mentally searching for what to send in return.

...

After dinner, Egbert Chumley gave Eloise Thompson a lift home.

The atmosphere in the carriage was not very awkward, but Eloise Thompson still felt a little weird, probably because Egbert Chumley had confessed his love for himself.

To be honest Eloise Thompson really didn't think that Egbert Chumley had liked himself for so many years, hey... Eloise Thompson lowered her eyes, her mood a little mixed for a while.

Such a good Egbert must not be held back by himself, I only wish he would put himself down sooner, Eloise Thompson thought to herself.

When the car arrived at Eloise Thompson's neighbourhood, Eloise Thompson was about to say goodbye to Egbert Chumley when she noticed a car parked next to them, with Hector Rogers leaning there in a black suit, his black eyes staring at them.

As they met, Eloise Thompson's heart stuttered, not expecting Hector Rogers to be here waiting for her, and she stepped forward and asked, "What brings you here?"

Hector Rogers stood up straight and spoke unsteadily, "Came to see you."

His tone was nonchalant, no emotion audible, as if he had met him a few days ago in front of a hotel abroad, and it was clear to Eloise Thompson that the guy was probably jealous again in his mind.

Hector Rogers is indeed jealous again. He came here to wait for Eloise Thompson, but instead he waits for his rival Egbert Chumley to bring her back, and it looks like the two are still coming back from dinner together, Egbert Chumley confessed his love to Eloise Thompson just a few days ago in front of him. Could he not be angry?

But at the moment he could only hold back and gave Egbert Chumley a faint nod in greeting.

Egbert Chumley didn't expect Hector Rogers to be here, and with a slight twinkle in his eye, he stepped forward and said, "It's fate to meet Mr Hector every time. Would you like to join us for a drink?"

The words were certainly a declaration of war and Egbert Chumley's tone was less than the usual hint of gentleness.

Hector Rogers looked up, his thin lips pursed, "Why not?"

He had been upset with Egbert Chumley for a long time, so how could he have refused his opponent's declaration of war?

For some reason, Eloise Thompson sensed something was wrong, and the two weren't exactly acquainted, so this drinking together? I'm afraid we're not going to get into a fight, are we?

Seeing this, Eloise Thompson rushed to speak up, "What a night for drinking, better go home early and get some rest! If you guys have to go, I'm going to tag along."

How could Eloise Thompson stand by and watch Hector Rogers and Egbert Chumley leave together, when these two were together, something could have happened.

Hector Rogers turned his head to look at Eloise Thompson and spoke, "Good girl, get back to bed early."

Egbert Chumley also said hello, and then the two men each drove off in their own cars.

Eloise Thompson stood in awe as they started the car box and left, wanting to stop but unable to do so.

For a moment, Eloise Thompson couldn't help but be a little worried, but after thinking about it, Egbert has such a good temper and this Hector Rogers has a bad temper but has a sense of proportion, it's unlikely these two would fight anyhow, right?

With a sigh, Eloise Thompson walked helplessly up the stairs.
